Wedding Crashers

Recommended Posts

First, I realize this is a year late. I never bothered seeing it in the theatre and just recently caught it on sat.

Okay, so what is so great about this movie? I understand different tastes, humour is a personal thing and that bullshit, but this was "the funniest movie of the year", "one of the funniest of all time", huge press about how great and funny it was. Besides a bit of juvenile toilet humour, I found nothing, absolutely nothing funny about it. It was nothing more than a waste of two hours and overall just one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

What am I missing here? What was so funny and had everyone raving about this "great" movie?

I honestly don't remember anyone saying any of that stuff. I think everyone just kind of assumed it was really funny because of the kind of business it did last year, but (as I noted at the time), it starts off okay then falls apart as soon as they leave Christopher Walken's house.

The best thing about the movie is the totally over-the-top redhead and Vince Vaughn's reactions to her.

Agreed. Vince Vaughn in general was the best part about this movie.

Because of everything that happens until, like the others said, they leave Walken's house.

Seeing Vince Vaughn taking a beating on the football field was a gut buster for me both times I saw it, and it's hard to make me laugh. The whole movie is full of little jokes that make it funny. I also thought the movie had a few little things after they left the house that were chuckle worthy.

It seems like the sort of movie that would lend itself well to a second or third viewing, which I hope to do soon.

It was all right, but the last half-hour sucked, as mentioned many times. Vaughn's character was gold, though.

Wedding Crashers probably did so much business because it was a date movie most guys at least sort of wanted to see.

Now, 40-yo-virgin, THAT'S honestly one of the best comedies I've ever seen. It actually made use of its 2 hour running time by, you know, having jokes through the whole movie.

It was like they let Owen and Vince be Owen and Vince for most of the movie, and then went "okay, we're gonna be somewhat serious now for the last part of the movie".

Rachel MacAdams looks better as a brunette, btw.

Movie was gold. Something for everyone. Unless you get offended easily. Which if you are, why are you watching the movie?

I wondered about the Wedding Crashers, too. Way too long and it should have ended after that weekend at the yuppie house. The funniest thing for me was I saw this right before Dick Cheney's quail hunting accident.

40-yo-virgin was too long for me as well, but it was much, much better. I thought it was going to be stupid going in, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Wedding Crashers: I'm in the consensus that it was a good film until leaving Walken's house. I actually thought they might avoid the Hollywood ending, but sure enough they went for it.

40YOV: I went in with pretty good expectations, given all the positive pub I heard, plus it had Steve Carrell who carried Anchorman for me when Wil Ferrell again failed to amuse me....

I quit watching 40YOV after a half-hour, not laughing once. On top of not being funny, I thought they were going way over the top in pushing the awkwardness factor. I'm hardly a prude or anything, but I did feel it hampered the already not-funny material.

I laughed hardest at the Romany Malco/Kevin Hart argument in 40 year old virgin. The line "Okay, first of all, you throwin to many big words at me. And since I don't know what they mean, I'm gonna take'm as a sign of disrespect. Watch your mouth and help me with the sale" had me laughing for days along with the "You just got fucked up with him".

Honestly, Romany Malco and Seth Rogan has me laughing at almost anything they said.

I say, without any exaggeration or hyperbole, that The Wedding Crashers is one of the worst movies that I've ever tried to sit through. I found it painfully not-funny, and other than a few (literally two or three) small chuckles, sat there completely stone-faced, never once laughing with any real force.

I couldn't even make it all the way through the movie before I shut it off and returned it to the kid that I'd borrowed it from.

All the best jokes occur after the first 30 minutes.

Ever noticed that this board hates everything popular?

Peer pressure seems to have the opposite affect once it gets online.

I appreciated Vince Vaughn's strange fixation with crab cakes...its a theme. I liked the movie, own it. watch it 2-3 times a week. Yep, thats me...I'm THAT GUY.

I'll agree with everyone else: It falls apart in the last 30 minutes, except for Will Farell managing to make the last 30 minutes watchable. My favortie character in the movie is the gay son, simply for the fact that he looks like he's going to kill someone at any given second.
