Kobe was included. They mentioned a hockey player but forgot about him as it went into a full blown Jeter Vs Brady debate between Phillips and Salisbury.

 

Phillips claim was "BUT BRADY WASN'T IN THE PRO BOWL" and Fat Boy replies "Well, who does Tom Brady have to play with" while some guy kept shouting "81 POINTS!" in support of Kobe and the mullet just sat there stunned he was on tv in the afternoon.

 

It was a mess.

I'm actually trying to figure out what exactly Brady has ever done that is SO clutch. He mostly led the Pats into some semblance of FG range so that Vinatieri could be clutch. The snow game vs. the Raiders, Super Bowl vs. Rams, SB vs. Panthers....I'd say any semi decent journeyman NFL QB could get a team into range for a FG. Wake me up when Brady actually leads them on an 80 yard drive for a winning score when the Pats are down 4.

 

This is a more technical complaint than anything, but ESPN is really goofy when it comes to using HD. God knows EVERY single Duke game must be shown in HD as to not offend Vitale or Coach K. Last week they showed Duke squashing Temple in HD, while IU vs. OSU was flat. I mean WTF? Tonight of course they had Duke vs. GA Tech in HD, but I can at least see that one. Yet OK St. vs. Kansas was flat....meanwhile a trivial Pitt/DePaul game was in HD. Who the fuck comes up with this stuff? I'd say a notable Big 10 clash with IU/OSU is more important than a Duke squash, and certainly a top 10 Big 12 matchup is more HD worthy than a Pitt snoozer.

Brady won 3 super bowls, and has proven to be one of the best QB's in the league. I hate using the term "clutch", and hate the Patriots and Massholes even more, but Brady deserves all the praise he gets. Except for the Pro Bowl, it was right to leave him out this year.

 

Duke is the most popular and most successful team in college basketball. That's why they get all the perks.

ESPN only hates hockey because they couldn't get ratings out of it. They only have Barry Melrose on what 2 days a week? And when he's on, they have him with Bill Walton so people won't change the channel.

Yeah, hockey on NBC starts back up this Saturday. I believe Philadelphia vs. Pittsburgh is the main game, but they also list two other games that I suppose will be shown in certain areas.

I know it's been said before, but hockey just isn't a good TV game...not for me anyway. However, I love going to local NCAA games featuring the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks. Fun stuff!

*sigh* I thought "clutchiness" only applied to baseball. In basketball, it's basically whoever ends up with the ball last. In football, it would basically be a quarterback by default.

The idea of clutch in football is stuff like Joe Montana driving the Niners down the field against the Bengals and scoring a TD. Or Vinatieri's FG in the snow vs. Oakland. Brady is a really good QB, but I haven't seen him do anything amazingly clutch, mainly because he hasn't had to all that often in big games.

 

And Duke? This isn't 15 years ago, when Duke had all sorts of lame bandwagon fans, even where I live. What is this notion that Duke is the most successful team in college hoops? UCLA, UK, UNC, IU...all have more national titles than Duke. My point originally though was that if Duke is playing a quality opponent, then put them in HD (UNC, MD, GA Tech, etc.). If there is a better game on that night like IU vs. OSU, then put that game in HD.
