naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Why didn't Dallas call time on that last possession? Douches. They didn't have any timeouts left The question is what the hell was Stackhouse thinking ? They said Dallas had 3 timeouts left when they secured the rebound. They used a full to stop the clock, a 20 to advance the ball, and unless Tirico misspoke, they still had a full left. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Are the refs going to let anything go in the Dallas/SA series? There were muggings going on out there. I mean I don't mind them letting it all go if it's fair and both teams get the treatment.

naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 I'm sure this isn't really a surprise to anyone, but. . . Wallace again NBA's Defensive Player of Year May 7, 2006 CBS SportsLine.com wire reports AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Detroit center Ben Wallace won the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year award for the fourth time in five years, a person within the Pistons organization told the Associated Press on Sunday. The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the award has not been announced, said Wallace will be presented with the award Tuesday night before Game 2 of the second-round series against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Wallace joins Dikembe Mutombo as the only four-time Defensive Player of the Year in league history. The muscular 6-foot-9, 240-pounder also won the award last year in 2003 and 2002. Detroit won an NBA-high and franchise-record 64 games during the regular season, helped by the work Wallace did while being honored as an All-Star for the fourth straight year. Wallace ranked fourth in the NBA in rebounding (11.3), ninth in blocks (2.2) and 10th in steals (1.78) -- the only player among the top 10 in all three categories -- and led one of the NBA's top teams at the defensive end of the court. He became the fifth player in league history to have 100 blocks and 100 steals in six straight seasons, a list that includes Hakeem Olajuwon, Julius Erving, Sam Lacey and David Robinson. Wallace scored 7.3 points a game this season, and has not averaged double digits in any of his 10 years in the league. Despite his lack of scoring, he is a key reason the Pistons have become one of the NBA's best teams in recent years. And Wallace -- with his trademark Afro or cornrows -- is clearly a sports celebrity in Detroit. His popularity is rivaled only by that of Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman, who might retire this offseason. Detroit acquired Wallace from Orlando along with Chucky Atkins in a sign-and-trade deal for Grant Hill before the 2000-01 season. The building block for the Pistons' turnaround helped them advance in the playoffs in 2002 -- for the first time since 1991 -- to the conference finals in 2003, win a title in 2004 and get to the finals last year. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Fuck, what's up with this early morning bullshit? I wake up a little late, and I'm thinking I might have missed the first quarter of the Spurs/Mavs game, but figure I'll still see the important part. No, I missed the entire game. Since when do they put the Western Conference game on before the Eastern conference game? I don't remember that ever happening before. I guess I'll have to start checking the schedule the night before on these wacky weekend games. On the other hand, watching the Mavs lose by 2 probably would have just torn at me anyway. I guess as long as I see all four wins in the series, it doesn't really matter.

bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2006 wait a second, Isiah is going to let Kenyon get away?!?!? Dude, he's a headcase with a bad contract, how can you not get him Isiah!? I personally feel betrayed by him.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2006 Isiah will find a way to make it a three-way deal where he gets Randolph and Martin and only gives up a dozen first round draft picks.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2006 I think the offseason will be more about who can square a trade to land either Allen Iverson or Kevin Garnett, both of whom I believe will be dealt this off season. The free agent crop this year is fairly weak and arguably the top prize, Ben Wallace, is most likely to re-sign with Detroit.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2006 I would still argue that the Bulls and T-Wolves match up the best in terms of a deal for Garnett. The Bulls have the cap room to absorb the contract and have the right mix of talent and draft picks to offer for Minnesota's eventual rebuilding. The Bulls really need that one talent that can push them over the top and the addition of Garnett would likely make a contender in the East. As far as Iverson is concerned, I can't really think of anyone that could swing a deal. What do you suppose that Philadelphia will look for in a potential deal? I don't know what Philly is looking for, but I think they want him out. The window to build a championship team around AI in Philly is over. I know out here in the Bay Area, there is some talk that the Warriors may put together a package of Troy Murphy, maybe Ike Diogu, and Baron Davis for AI. More players may be needed to get the deal done, but one thing for sure here in Warriorland is they need a change and the honeymoon with Baron Davis is over. They need to do something since Mullin's job is on the line now and the only person considered not tradeable right now is Jason Richardson. I think the Warriors will land either AI or Garnett. The Lakers will probrably inquire about KG, as will the Kings. Chicago is in a ripe position to land him as well.
Guest Report post Posted May 8, 2006 Chicago's in the best position to land KG. They have a boatload of players, the only question is whether or not they want to trade that 1st round pick from New York. Minnesota will undoubtedly ask them about it, and that would be the centerpiece to any deal. Gordon or Hinrich would probably have to go too. Mitch Kupchak's a terrible GM. The Lakers would have to get really lucky to get KG. Fortunately, the man trading KG is stupid enough to let the Lakers get lucky.

Guest Report post Posted May 8, 2006 Something happened to it. Never mind. EDIT: Just click and pick. http://www.hoopshype.com/salaries.htm Jaric's, Blount's and Hudson's contracts are not good.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2006 I can't think of any pieces that the Lakers could put together to get KG. Then again, when you are dealing with Kevin McHale I suppose anything is possible. As for the Kings, I'd shit myself if they were able to get him, but I'm not sure they match up that well either. I'd guess Bibby or Miller would be the centerpiece of any deal, but I'd be uncomfortable with that even if it was for KG.
Guest Report post Posted May 8, 2006 Odom, Bynum, Mihm and 1st is all they'd need to give. Minnesota is noted as liking Odom. Note that I do not want LA to give up Bynum for anything, just like I don't want this thread to turn into KG to LA. I don't know if they'll hang onto Kwame for the full duration of his contract either. When I think about the Kings though, Bibby's contract is real ugly. I don't know if they'll be able to deal him. Bynum's being taught by the greatest center of all-time, he's 18 and schooled Eddy Curry during garbage time in the Garden. I pray to God that Mitchell doesn't do something stupid. So McHale is stupid in that he will give you KG for Laker trash, but he can't see through the Bibby contract?
Guest Report post Posted May 8, 2006 Bibby's contract isn't as bad as I thought. But nevertheless, they don't need a point guard. They're paying up the ass for Jaric and Hudson. I just mentioned things that Minnesota is known as having interest in. Cheap center who the Lakers want to trade=Mihm, they like Odom and I don't know what else they'd do besides Bynum, who is the Lakers best tradeable asset. I'd rather the Lakers didn't trade for Garnett, considering the outrageous price and the potential of Bynum. That better? Just because you think it's trash does not make it so in the minds of the people that make the deals. I'd rather we didn't clog this up with KG talk, if you want to we can take it to the blogs. After all, it is a conference semifinal thread, which neither of our teams are part of.
