Danville_Wrestling Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 I loved the Survivor Series 1996 match between Owen Hart, Bulldog & The New Rockers vs. LaFon, Furnas, and the Godwinns (I think it was the Godwinns). I remember the great offense LaFon and Furnas pulled out in that match, especially on Owen, and thought they were going to be a presence in the tag division for some time to come but they only lasted till WM 13 and made a jobber-type appearance in the USA vs. Canada match at Survivor Series 1997. What happened there? On a side note, I was watching Paul Bearer's Hits from the Crypt and it has the RAW tag title switch between the Quebecers and the Headshrinkers. The crowd heat for that match is tremendous and somewhat makes you yearn for the days when tag teams could main event RAW or actually be considered worth a damn. Plus, the match is pretty awesome to boot with the Quebecers doing all their cool offense.
Timmy8271 Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 Lets see: Buddy Landell and Bill dundee Tommy Rich/Austin Idol Chris Adams and Terry Taylor Terry Taylor and Eddie Gilbert Sting and Rick Steiner and of course one of my favorite tag teams ever Dr. Death steve Williams and Ted Dibase. It's a crime that WWF and NWA didn't sign these guys as a tag team in 1985.
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 Have we ever determined who the biggest tag team whore was? A guy like Bagwell had full time teams with Tom Zenk, 2 Cold, Patriot, Scotty Riggs,Scott Norton and Lex Luger. Eaton had Condrey,Lane, Arn, Beniot, Regal, Joey Maggs and who knows in Memphis.
MillenniumMan831 Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 When did Eaton tag up w/ Joey Maggs? And don't forget Eaton's 1994 pairing w/ Steve Keirn as part of the Bad Attitude.
Timmy8271 Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Don't forget Koko Ware was with Eaton in memphis. Eaton was with maggs in the early 90's.
Tully316 Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Two words......Hollywood Blonds Pillman and Austin were put together for no reason and were the most over team in WCW in years. They could talk, wrestle, and sell anything
Bruce Blank Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Yeah but hardly "Underrated" - They're one of the top 10 teams ever in my book talent wise
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Bagwell also held the tag straps with Shane Douglas in 2000, though their teaming was brief. Quote: "'Mr Wonderful' Paul Orndorff and 'Pretty' Paul Roma - did some good stuff in 1994." Someone's on acid. Seriously. I could EASILY name at least 75-80 WCW tag teams alone that were better. Roma is one of the worst wrestlers in the world and Orndorff was slow (read: "methodical!"-tm Schiavone) and should've retired.
Dobbs 3K Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Yeah, I remember the "Two Pauls" getting a lot of heat, but don't remember any of their matches or anything. WCW was really weird around that time period.
slabinskia Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 This gave me my idea for my next list. It will be the top 100 NA tag matches. Since I haven't seen much good wrestling the last few years, the timeframe will be from 1984-2003. Feel free to throw some match suggestions other than the obvious. Remember, this is U.S. only. I will begin putting the list together and start the thread in about a week.
slabinskia Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 I've come up with 70 matches without much trouble.Throw me some matches that I might have missed.

UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 WCW (That's 1990 to 2001) tag teams better than "Pretty Wonderful" (note: List will be updated through the night) 1. Doom 2. Rick & Scott Steiner 3. Jushin Liger & Brian Pillman 4. Dustin Rhodes & Barry Windham 5. Dustin Rhodes & Ricky Steamboat 6. Larry Zbyszko & Arn Anderson 7. Arn Anderson & Bobby Eaton 8. Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane 9. Ricky Morton & Thomas Rich ('90 face run) 10. Ricky Steamboat & Shane Douglas 11. Tom Zenk & Brian Pillman 12. Steve Williams & Terry Gordy 13. Booker T. & Stevie Ray 14. Cactus Jack & Kevin Sullivan 15. Cactus Jack & Maxx Payne 16. The Samoan Swat Team 17. The Road Warriors (the 1990 version, I'll give Pretty Wonderful the nod over the shitty post '95 version) 18. 2 Cold Scorpio & Marcus Alexander Bagwell 19. Arn Anderson & Barry Windham ('90-'91) 20. Tracy Smothers & Steve Armstrong 21. Steve Austin & Brian Pillman 22. Greg Valentine & The Taylor-Made-Man 23. Lord Steven Regal & The Earl of Eaton 24. Arn Anderson & Paul Roma (you're comparing ON FIRE Anderson to shits Orndorff, basically) 25. The Patriot & Marcus Alexander Bagwell 26. Mortis & Wrath 27. Meng & The Barbarian 28. Sting & Lex Luger (1991 team was incredible, 1995-96 team was exciting, as well) 29. Scott Hall & Kevin Nash 30. The Giant & Lex Luger (remember, at this time Giant was thinner, hitting top-rope missle dropkicks, and WORKING) 31. Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko 32. Barry Windham & Curt Hennig (and this team, IMO, sucked) 33. Rey Mysterio, Jr. & Billy Kidman 34. El Dandy & Silver King 35. Rey Mysterio, Jr. & Konan 36. Raven & Kanyon 37. Raven & Perry Saturn 38. Perry Saturn & Chris Benoit 39. Dallas Page & Kanyon 40. Bret Hart & Bill Goldberg 41. Big Vito & Johnny the Bull 42. Juventud Guerrera & Rey Mysterio, Jr. 43. Disco Inferno (Disqo) & Alex Wright 44. The Insane Clown Posse (BEFORE YOUR BITCH ABOUT THIS, check out their seriously good ringwork against Rey, Kidman and Eddie through the summer of 1999, including two very good six-mans with Vampiro on their side. They worked enough bouts to be considered, IMO, although this may be a stretch. They were carried? SURE. But at least they were in exciting bouts, unlike Pretty Terrible.) 45. Chavo Guerrero, Jr. (Lt. Loco) and Lash LeRoux (Crpl. Cajun) 46. The Rock 'N Roll Express (1990 version) 47. Tim Horner & Brad Armstrong 48. Big Van Vader & Mr. Hughes (who were both gods of bumping for Rick & Scotty as a mid-card tag team in 91-early 92) 49. Rick Rude & Steve Austin (singles champions with impressive Clash/GAB NWA tag title tourney run, late 91 to spring 92 house show teams, and NJPW team in late 92) 50. Kid Romeo & Elix Skipper 51. A.J. Styles & Air Paris 52. Lane & Rave 53. Hiroshi Hase & Kensuki Sasaki ('91) 54. Chris Benoit & Beef Wellington 55. Silver King & Dr. Wagner, Jr. (as "The Silver Kings") 56. Sting & Davey Boy Smith 57. Hiroshi Hase & Masahiro Chono ('91) 58. Arn Anderson & Brian Pillman ('95) 59. Arn Anderson & Ric Flair ('96) 60. Lance Storm & Mike Awesome ('00-01) 61. Shane Helms & Shannon Moore 62. Yang & Kaz Hayashi 63. Dean Malenko & Perry Saturn ('99) 64. Scott Hall & Syxx 65. Jacuqes Rougeau & Pierre Ouelette 66. Sting & Vampiro Teams "Pretty Wonderful" were better than: 1. Michael Hayes & Jimmy Garvin 2. Brian Knobbs & Jerry Sags (though the Nastys had a few winners in garbage brawls) 3. Bunkhouse Buck & Dick Slater 4. The Public Enemy 5. The American Males 6. Barry & Kendall Windham 7. Harris Brothers 8. Douglas & Bagwell 9. The Patriots 10. Kronik 11. The Master Blasters 12. The Wrecking Crew (1993) 13. Thunder & Lightning (1994) 14. Harlem Heat 2000 15. Bagwell & Total Package (Totally Buff) 16. The Cole Twins 17. Shawn Stasiak & Chuck Palumbo 18. Vampiro & The Great Muta 19. Tex Slazenger & Shanghai Pierce 20. The Awesome Kongs 21. Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker & Lt. James Earl Wright 22. The Renegade Warriors 23. Erik Watts & Kensuke Sasaki Unsure: 1. Vegas Connection - Shitty/OK Page & Not Very Good Vegas (Nash) 2. Scott Norton & Ice Train. 3. O'Haire & Palumbo
King Kamala Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 Now I may be the only WCW 2000 mark out there but I liked Kronik. So what if they were an A.P.A. ripoff? They had a decent look and I always liked the blatent marijuana references. And I was a huge Adam Bomb and Crush mark as a kid.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 I would have ranked them on the "better" list until footage of them chillaxin' in a sauna together aired at Havoc '00.
Just John Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 I've come up with 70 matches without much trouble.Throw me some matches that I might have missed. Bret/Owen Hart vs. The Steiners (1/11/94) Anderson/Flair vs. Savage/Eddie (Slamboree 96) <- Short, but very fun story-driven match Harlem Heat vs. The Steiners (Hog Wild 96) Glacier/Miller vs. Mortis/Wrath (Bash at the Beach 97) Hardy Boyz vs. E/C (No Way Out 2000) <- Should be surprisingly high Haas/Benjamin vs. Mysterio/Kidman (Vengeance 03)
slabinskia Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 Anything from watts, awa, memphis etc that I may be overlooking ?
razazteca Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 2. Brian Knobbs & Jerry Sags (though the Nastys had a few winners in garbage brawls Pretty Wonderful > Nasty Boys?????? are you crazy? Starcade 1994 Nasty Boys vs Harlem Heat 3. Halloween Havoc 1995 Nasty Boys vs Terry Funk & Buckhouse Buck 4. Bash at the Beach 1996 Nasty Boys vs Public Enemy
