Guest wildpegasus Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Inspired by the Rocky Balboa trailor and seeing Rocky squatting (Da KING of all exercises) with 285 pds approximately I got motivated to start this thread. Basicaly, what are your favourite movies or Tv shows that have the greatest training sequences. Pick anything from the awesomeness of the original Dragonball to the Rocky series itself. The real point of the thread is to find out what movies feature squatting with a barbell/dumbells as that's what seperates the men from the boys but still feel free to name your favourites that don't feature any squatting.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 I'll probably get ripped, but I like the Montage training sequence of Team America. It takes all the aspects and throws them over the top, maknig it enjoyable to me.
Anakin Flair Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Batman Begins. Sword fighting on a glacier? How do you top that?
Guest wildpegasus Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Batman Begins. Sword fighting on a glacier? How do you top that? Sounds interesting but I'll raise you with the original Tiger Mask anime. It's going to be difficult to beat that one. Anyone who has seen it will understand. Right now, I'm just trying to think of the training stuff they had in it.
Guest NYankees Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 The Karate Kid when Daniel is practicing the Crane Kick standing on the wooden pole as the waves crash in with the sun rise/set behind him.
LessonInMachismo Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 Hogan and Okerlund in preparation for their match with Fuji and Steele. And good pick, RepoMan. When is THAT coming to DVD?
razazteca Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 Seinfeld, the episode with Lloyd Bridges on it.
tommytomlin Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 Randy Marsh training in The Losing Edge episode of South Park. It can't be topped.
Spaceman Spiff Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 Huey training Granddad in The Boondocks.
Black Lushus Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 Team Korea in Best of the Best. damn you, you took my pick! Team USA sis some cool stuff too...Tommy knocking Virgil into next week.
Special K Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 The Fearless Hyena starring Jackie Chan. Dumpling Duel (Chopsticks fight) Walking across a room on several clay pots while his master swats at his feet and the pots Then a rocky-esque sequence to inish it off. Overall my favorite JC movie besides Drunken Master II.
daileyxplanet Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 I used to really enjoy the Daredevil/Elektra training sequence. Then I started to hate Evanescense.
Special K Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 My friend used to rage about that sequence. "You can't fucking cut bags of sand with a Sai! It's a big metal spike! It has no edge!"
the max Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Team USA playing street hockey in D2 and finally coming together as a team. So cheesy, yet so, so wonderful.
SuperJerk Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Empire Strikes Back, though that training sequence made up 1/4 of the movie and didn't involve generic rock music.
razazteca Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Jean Claude Van Dam in Bloodsport: 1) the two chair split 2) the splits with tree 3) the flashback blind crab attack Seriously the greatest training sequence ever is from Master Killer.
RepoMan Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Team USA playing street hockey in D2 and finally coming together as a team. So cheesy, yet so, so wonderful. Best part is at the end when the black go is all like "go get 'em team USA, go get em" and chokes up a bit.
the max Posted June 30, 2006 Report Posted June 30, 2006 Team USA playing street hockey in D2 and finally coming together as a team. So cheesy, yet so, so wonderful. Best part is at the end when the black go is all like "go get 'em team USA, go get em" and chokes up a bit. Yeah. Especially when he basically walks on to the team in mid-tournament because of his trick shot (the knucklepuck). I tried the knucklepuck once. I broke a car window.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted June 30, 2006 Report Posted June 30, 2006 Team America -- because who can't use a montage when in a pinch?

I usually break out the Knucklepuck at least once when I play air hockey. Needless to say, I get yelled at often.
haws bah gawd Posted July 1, 2006 Report Posted July 1, 2006 Rocky 4 had those fucked up over-the-side-of-a-barn sit ups, and those lower body situps where Stallone was using his neck and shoulders to lift his entire lower body. Thats some hardcore shit.
