Enigma Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Back to normal? July 25, 2006 This week, ECW on Sci Fi returns to its regular time of 10/9 CT. In the main event, Big Show will defend the ECW World Championship against RAW's Big Red Monster, Kane, in an Extreme Rules Match. Big Show has had his troubles of late with Kane's brother Undertaker, but he's no stranger to the Big Red Monster either. Just four months ago, Kane & Big Show were World Tag Team Champions on RAW. After losing the gold, however, the two were at each other's throats for several weeks. Now, they will collide with the ECW World Championship on the line. Which 7-footer will walk out of Detroit with the gold? Last week, Tommy Dreamer once again tried to confront Paul Heyman about his recent actions, telling Paul that he owed the locker room an explanation. Instead of that, however, Dreamer received a Kiss of Death before being brutally attacked by Test. In the past, the "Kiss of Death" has led to the end of its recipients. In Biblical terms, Judas Iscariot gave Jesus Christ a Kiss of Death the night before Jesus was crucified. Also, in the movie The Godfather Part II, Michael Corleone plants a kiss on the lips of treasonous brother Fredo shortly before Fredo is executed. ECW.com tried to get comment from Paul Heyman, but the ECW representative is holding the contents of this week's show close to his vest. Wiill we see the next chapter in this bizarre saga? Find out Tuesday night at 10/9 CT on Sci Fi.
Vampiro69 Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 There had better be weapon shots in the Main Event match or it will suck just like all their other matches.
Hawk 34 Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 The fact WWE felt compelled to explain the Kiss of Death baffles me.
packwingfn Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 What led to Kane being the next victim of the Big Show? And where has kane been anyway?
Guest Oblivious Heel Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 That they set this up before running an angle on Raw baffles me.
Cheech Tremendous Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 The story they need to emphasize is that Big Show will take on any challenger from anywhere, as long it is on "his" turf and "his" type of match. Big Show plowing through outsiders every week would go a long ways towards establishing the ECW brand, the title, and Big Show as a main-event player.
Enigma Posted July 24, 2006 Author Report Posted July 24, 2006 The story they need to emphasize is that Big Show will take on any challenger from anywhere, as long it is on "his" turf and "his" type of match. Big Show plowing through outsiders every week would go a long ways towards establishing the ECW brand, the title, and Big Show as a main-event player. That would be true if it wasn't Big Show and it was actually somebody that wasn't a WWE product like Tommy Dreamer or The Sandman or even Rob Van Dam. But it's Big Show, so it doesn't make a bit of difference.
Guest Oblivious Heel Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 If Big Show, an ECW wrestler, will only play by his rules, then how did Teddy Long have the power to stick him in the whateverthefuckitwascalled prison match at GAB?
The Niggardly King Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 The fact WWE felt compelled to explain the Kiss of Death baffles me. They had to because many of their fans thought that Paul Heyman's new character was a gay control freak.
Danville_Wrestling Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 I guess it's RAW's turn to plug in a guy for the main event this week. What's next week? Rey Mysterio channeling the soul of ECW's Eddie Guerrero?
Guest Felonies! Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Also, in the movie The Godfather Part II, Michael Corleone plants a kiss on the lips of treasonous brother Fredo shortly before Fredo is executed. Shortly? That was like six months later.
razazteca Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 The fact WWE felt compelled to explain the Kiss of Death baffles me. They had to because many of their fans thought that Paul Heyman's new character was a gay control freak. The fans went brain dead the second they saw Test use the big boot! If they wanted to use the Godfather as the backstory then they should of had the Full Blooded Itallians beat Dreamer with a double team finisher and then have Big Guido do a top rope splash.
Just John Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 I hope Show and Kane do another scientific, mat-wrestling clinic like they did on Raw earlier this year (which to date is still one of the weirdest matches I've ever seen).
randomguy Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 LOL this sucks ass. Show is an awful worker now, and they keep putting him with other guys who are big and slow or can't work at all. When ECW was annouced I don't think Show vs. Kane is what people had in mind.

UZI Suicide Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Kane & Taker vs. Show & Khali at Summerslam?
Jericho2000Mark Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Michael Corleone plants a kiss on the lips of treasonous brother Fredo shortly before Fredo is executed. He gave him the kiss of death at least a year before he had Fredo killed... Words can't describe how ridiculous a Kane vs Big Show ECW Title match sounds...
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 "The fact WWE felt compelled to explain the Kiss of Death baffles me." Maybe because it's a lame, homoerotic, outdated act.
Scroby Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Words can't describe how ridiculous a Kane vs Big Show ECW Title match sounds... You know we all thought the same about Flair vs Big Show for the ECW title but that turned out to be a fun match. I'll give Kane vs Big Show a chance before I knock it. On the plus side I think RVD returns next week. I think next week his 30 days will be up.
cabbageboy Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 The goofy thing is that it's not like Show is some sort of serious longterm champ. Once RVD comes back they'll probably just have him beat Show at SS. I personally think all these guest stars of the week are there for filler till RVD gets back, since lord knows they haven't hyped anyone on ECW's actual roster. They could go with Sabu, but maybe don't want to have him job out to Show this early.

Not only are the "guest stars" filler people but I think they're also used to help draw ratings since NO ONE on the ECW roster other than RVD, Sabu, Big Show and Angle have been promoted as top talents.
Guest Overworked Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 It looks like they are trying to Do with Big Show what Shane Douglas did in 95 back in 95 Douglas as world champion threw out a challenge for anyone in the business to come and try to wrestle him, I have two tapes of Douglas during this challenge period where he took on Marty Jenetty and Tully Blanchard, both matches actually pretty good with Douglas selling the offenses of both men affectively. but all Show is doing is wrestling WWE wrestlers... little different

RedJed Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 When I saw the promo for this match on Raw, I literally yelled at the TV. It's become Vince's pet project (chuck full of Show v. other big men week after week) 110 percent now. UGH
uhftv Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 they're running out of old and/or tall guys. but seriously, the ratings have stayed pretty consistent aside from the big dip after the abysnal 1st show. what if they take it as a sign that these big guys are drawing the ratings? or that Big Show is drawing the ratings? so even when RVD returns they could keep Show in the ME every week for months.

UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 I think Cade and Murdoch came out well before Brokeback.
