Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2006 If you live in the Minnesota, Wisconsin, ND, SD, or Iowa areas the best guy to listen to is The Common Man Dan Cole on KFAN from noon-2pm.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2006 While driving to lunch today, I heard another thing I hate about TJRS, namely that damn song about his call screener. It's shitty pop-punk crap (two strikes) and he keeps saying "Clones, it's hilarious!" while I sit through the thing completely stone-faced because it isn't funny, and it's shitty pop-punk to boot. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2006 today was the first time I listened to Rome since Friday...on Friday, he was talking about his "buzzer noise" that he makes with his mouth....and again today, he was still talking about his "buzzer noise" that he makes with his mouth...he talks a lot about Myopia, I'm thinking "look in the mirror"! Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2006 I'm a talk radio fanatic, mostly because I hate commercial music radio. I was a big time Stern fan after I discovered him late in his broadcast career and now am hoping for Sirius to develop some kind of true walkman type deal. As it is, if I'm home and up and doing nothing all day I'll listen to Mike and Mike in the morning on ESPN, Stephanie Miller on Air America(funniest liberal show in the country), then Dale and Holly on WEEI, the Big Show, the flagship WWEI show, then either Randi Rhodes on Air America or nothing during the 6pm hour, On Point on NPR, then either Fresh Air on NPR or switch over to ESPN/WEEI, but I only listen to ESPN after midnight because I don't feel like listening to the BBC at night anymore, which is what NPR plays here and I hate Fox Sports Radio, JT the Brick has sucked ever since he left Sports Fan Radio Network

NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2006 JT the brick is a bag lady's version of Jim Rome. He is HORRIBLE with a capital H. The only reason he even has a show is because of Jim Rome. Not that he'll ever admit it. Yeah, wasn't he a Jim Rome caller back in the day, and he won one of the first smackoffs? On Jim Rome's OLD WEBSITE there used to be audio clips of all the smackoff winners. I think he got mad because Jim Rome started including a lot of non-sports material in his show(me personally, that is why I like Rome's show) JT will always try to take cheap shots at Rome, and then Rome has struck back a few times mocking the "It's YOUR SHOW CALLERS" schtick... kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2006 I hate Fox Sports Radio. I have on the 9-noon people on (the show with James Washington) because there's nothing else on in my market besides Beck, and I can't listen to him five days per week. JT the Brick has sucked ever since he left Sports Fan Radio Network I used to listen to JT all the time on Sports Fan Radio. I also tuned in at work to the Sports Pig on the weekends -- half of his callers were drunk. I was a regular caller of his during the 4-5 a.m. hour Sunday mornings after I got home from work. Since I lived at Sappy Valley he always assumed I wanted to talk PSU Football, so I just began saying I was listening via the Internet from Shittsburgh. And what ever happened to Sports Fan Radio -- did they go under or merge with some other company?
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2006 And what ever happened to Sports Fan Radio -- did they go under or merge with some other company? They went under not long after FSR went on the air. I haven't listened to a sports talk show regularly since Papa Joe Chevalier left Sporting News Radio. I'd listen to Rome if I could get it on the Internet for free, but I'm not paying to listen to him.

TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2006 Tony Paige is on WFAN tonight, as usual. He's on 6 nights a week. And he's un-fucking-bearable. I like to fall asleep to talk radio, usually sports unless there's something interesting on the George Noory/Art Bell show. The ESPN alternate is a fun show, but, since it's ESPN, it's clogged with Bonds and Reggie Bush talk. We used to get Loveline here way back in the day, which is what I used to listen to when I was like 15-16. Anyway, Tony Paige is on this station 1-5:30 am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and is on 9 pm - 1 am on Saturdays. It's supposed to be a sports opinion show, right? Well, this guy knows nothing about sports (Except boxing, which he can't shut the fuck up about - all he needs is one boxing call and he goes off), and has no opinions about anything. He agrees with every caller, even when their opinion is different than the one he just agreed with previously. He sits there and goes "Emmm hmmm, emmm hmmm, emmm hmmmm." Every other host on the station at least does a monologue on the hot topic or the recent happenings in New York sports for the first segment. Paige does about a 5 minute skim-job and goes right to his drone callers. And is voice is annoying as fuck.

Maybe it's just me, but I have a soft spot for late night talk radio. I think it's the callers who are so assbackwards and crazy that makes it enjoyable. BruiserKC 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2006 I listen to talk radio just about 95% of the time now when I listen to the radio because commercial music radio sucks ass. Only time I really listen to music is on my DirecTV since they added XM Radio channels. As for the sports...here in Des Moines Larry Cotlar does our morning drive show plus he would be on Sound-off after the Iowa football games. It's funny to watch this guy hammer on a subject than backpedal after someone takes him to task. A few years ago Iowa loses to Michigan at home and the Hawkeye fans are booing our QB at the time. Cotlar comes on and rips on how Hawkeye fans that boo their own guy that way aren't true fans, etc. He kept the schtick up for about 10 minutes and then a caller just reamed him a new one and basically told Cotlar where he can stick it. Cotlar was apologizing for the next two hours for his statement... it was so pathetic. My 15 minutes of fame on sports talk was when the former afternoon drive host Steve Deace nailed me for comments I made on a message board. He had been at the ESPN one and moved over to the Sporting News one. Michael Gartner ran the Sporting News one and all Deace before had pounded Gartner (who used to be the president of NBC News and got in trouble over rigging Ford trucks to go kaboom for a Dateline story) and talked about how he had no respect for him, etc. Plus, Gartner at the time was trying to keep a new arena in town from being built, or so it seemed. Deace switches sides and goes to Gartner's station...on an interview he conducted with Gartner I felt Deace sold out and went down on him. I blasted him for it and Deace spent 2 hours on his next show ripping me for it.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2007 Im sadly counting down the days til I wont hear Ron and Fez anymore with the merger...theres no way they make it even if O&A do, which Im doubtful of anyway. RAZZLE DAZZLE! Oh, and several years ago I emailed whoever it was on late night Fox Sports at the time on the topic of "change one event in sports history" and of course I went with Jefferey fucking Meier interfering in the 1996 playoffs...he doesn't do that, I think the Orioles would have won the Series and the Yankee dynasty is staved off.. The guy laughed and said the Os wouldnt have beaten the Yankees regardless..but its obvious the little prick interfering took the steam right of the Os for the rest of the series..and for the whole city of NY to celebrate the kid like he was some sort of hero was an embarassment..
