therealworldschampion Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Nice job by Hamels and the Phils tonight. Here's a question: If the Phillies somehow make the playoffs as the WC and the Yankees don't at least win the AL pennant, does Bobby Abreu qualify for the Ewing Theory?
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Oh my God. ESPN just announced that Friday Aug. 4th, the Newark Bears minor league team will have: Britney Spears Baby Safety Night It will give tips on baby safety in the home and in the car. If you bring a baby or dress up like a baby you get in free. And if you bring a baby toy.
Vern Gagne Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Oh my God that's funny or Oh my God that's not funny?
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Oh My God as in that's so stupid, silly, and ridiculous that I like it.
Precious Roy Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 there is no fucking way manram gets the RI crown. Dude is like 34 already, no happening
the max Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 there is no fucking way manram gets the RI crown. Dude is like 34 already, no happening Maybe not, but there's an outside chance. It depends on how much Manny wants to play. He's averaged ~124 rbi over the last 10 seasons...he'd need about 6 more seasons to get the record...
C Dubya 04 Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Hamels is done, 7 IP, 1 ER, 2 H.....pretty good outing, he's been back on track lately and this was nice to see. You're tough. I'd at least give him a good outing for that one!
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 ESPNNews's bottom line indicates the Lopez to Boston trade is official.
Guest NYankees Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Huge ANDRUW JONES RUMOR If this is in the wrong place... feel free to move it... According to Buster Onley on the Dan Patrick Show... Andruw Jones has been claimed off waivers by the LA Angels of Anahiem. 24hrs to work out the deal... Onley said he was "claimed by A team off waivers" but then said "I think it is the Angels How does everyone think this will affect us.

The teams won't work out a deal and Jones will remain a Brave.

Open the Muggy Gate Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 ESPNNews just made that Andruw Jones announcement too. I really wonder who the hell can get him. Whoever it is, they are gonna be one fortunate team.
vivalaultra Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Wouldn't it be a bad move for the Braves to deal Andruw Jones? Not only would it be a terrible PR move, but they're not THAT many games back from the Wildcard. Even if they aren't able to negotiate a long-term deal after his current one expires, he's not making that much money relative to what he offers to the Braves' offense this year. If they do get rid of him, they're gutting about 70% of their offense. With that said, I hope for the Astros' sake they do trade him to the Angels. We've still got quite a few games with the Braves before the season's over.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 My god, the Pirates are going to hand Zambrano his first loss in ages. The Ronny Cedeno at second experiment is not off to a good start, either. By the way, I think Izturis is Spanish for "groundout."
Guest Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 That rumor is a load of garbage. Another team in the NL didn't claim Jones? Someone's never read their waiver rules. For Olney to report that the Angels were the team that made the claim, is asinine, as that means that a team lower in the standings couldn't have placed one, and a team equal in the standings to the Angels in the NL couldn't have claimed him. With all these teams in the NL Wildcard race, that's very unlikely.
devo Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 It's great to see Nady having such a good day (three doubles already, and it's only the fifth inning). I really like the guy and was none too happy to see him leave the Mets. With any luck, he'll be able to cash in a little bit next year and start for a team that doesn't suck.

Guest Princess Leena Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 I guess. But, there's teams out there with money. And I think Boston would have scooped him up immediately.

So they turned down Crisp/Hansen for someone who would actually have to clear waivers? Kind of a stupid move.
Guest NYankees Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 It is a sad day in Yankee Land. Bubba Crosby was DFA.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 If it hasn't been mentioned yet, Boston got Javy Lopez for a player to be named later.
devo Posted August 5, 2006 Report Posted August 5, 2006 Orlando Hernandez has balked twice in this inning, one of which brough the runner in from third. What's most frustrating about it is that so far he's having a darn good start otherwise.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted August 5, 2006 Report Posted August 5, 2006 You know, I'm glad the Phils don't have Bobby Abreu's awful defense anymore. I mean, no other outfielder would allow Orlando Hernandez to triple, right? Especially one that hustles and runs into walls. A lot of good THAT did.
KingPK Posted August 5, 2006 Report Posted August 5, 2006 It's Cowbell Night at Tropicana Field tonight. That's right Cowbell Night. Who comes up with these promotions?

Guest Felonies! Posted August 5, 2006 Report Posted August 5, 2006 Way to stay on top of the fads, Tampa Bay Devil Rays! Maybe in 2012 you can have Mr. Pibb & Red Vines Night, too.
Vern Gagne Posted August 5, 2006 Report Posted August 5, 2006 Santana with another shitty performance.
Cartman Posted August 5, 2006 Report Posted August 5, 2006 Top 8th game tied 2-2, Schilling coming our of the game after 102 Pitches... Papi HR. 3-2 Red Sox!
