2GOLD 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 Homicide and Hernandez of LAX defeated AJ and Daniels to win the Tag Titles. Why not just do this on PPV? IMPACT has been the main pushing ground of LAX and it's been awhile since TNA did a title switch on the show. I don't see a problem with doing it on IMPACT. UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 Also creates an "exciting anything can happen" atmosphere on a show that might possibly get some new viewers from big-time TUF lead-in. Remember when AJ & Daniels had contracts for like every team to face them? Well, they got to challenge, what - 1 team?
Celtic Guardian 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 Homicide and Hernandez of LAX defeated AJ and Daniels to win the Tag Titles. Why not just do this on PPV? TNA wants to impress the larger Impact audience expected with the return of its Ultimate Fighter lead-in. Why not push your hot tag team act when it will have the most "Impact" (pun intended)? GODSON 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 That saving it for ppv method never been a really big deal in TNA's case. Their buyrates will remain on the same level no matter what, mostly because people would rather see TNA put all it's focus on Impact before they start buying ppvs(sounds stupid but I can't think of anything else that will work). Most people I've talk to on the net don't buy the ppvs because they think Impact is weak, storylines, matches, characters, etc. If I was Dixie Carter and Jeff Jarrett, I would put on 20-30 main events every show just to get people to talking. If that means less time for other wrestlers,so be it. A Paparazzi segment,LAX segment,1 squash and 25 minute match would be enough, that will take up the whole 45 minutes. Aero 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 Credit: Richard Trionfo and PWInsider.com Before the taping started, they taped segments with Mike Tenay and Don West that will be interspersed during the Ultimate Fighter premier episode's commercial breaks to hype that night's TNA Impact. Impact Thursday 8/17: AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels brawled into the Impact Zone with LAX. Rhino, Brother Runt, Samoa Joe, Monty Brown, and Abyss all brawl around the building. NWA champion Jeff Jarrett comes to the ring wondering what's going on. Jarrett came to the ring and they shot off confetti cannons to celebrate his win over Sting. The lights went off and when they returned, Sting was in the ring. Sting chased off Jarrett and said that he didn't lose to Jarrett, he lost because of Christian Cage. He challenged Jarrett to a rematch at Bound for Glory and said he would do anything to get the match. In the back, NWA Tag Team champions AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels were interviewed, although the audio wasn't clear. At the Spanish announce table, Konnan challenges Daniels and Styles to a rematch for the Tag Titles in a "Border Brawl" with no DQ and No Rules for the belts. Jeremy Borash was at Jeff Jarrett's locker room door trying to get a response to Sting's challenge. Eric Young comes out and says that Jarrett will give the answer later. Chris Sabin & Jay Lethal & Sonjay Dutt defeated Alex Shelley & Petey Williams & Johnny Devine. Earl Hebner attacked Slick Johnson during the match. No sign of Kevin Nash all night. In a Captain's Match, Chase Stevens defeated Chris Harris, Kazarian, and BG James to earn a NWA Tag Team title shot in the future for the Naturals. There was a lot of dissension teased between America's Most Wanted. After the match, they were pushing each other as Gail Kim tried to separate them. Storm finally walked off from Harris, leaving him in the ring. Samoa Joe defeated Ron Killings with the MuscleBuster. In the back, Jeff Jarrett told Jeremy Borash that he has conditions to face Sting, saying that he wants Sting to put his career on the line and wants Sting to deliver him a contract next week with that stipulation. Impact Thursday 8/24: LAX defeated Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles to become the new NWA Tag Team champions after Homicide hit an Ace Cutter on Daniels through a table for the pin in a "Border Brawl" match. Shane Douglas comes out and says that he hates to brag but he told everyone he would bring the Naturals to the top of the Tag Team division. Alex Shelley and Johnny Devine defeated The Naturals. Douglas returns to the ring and berates The Naturals. Christian Cage comes out and explains that he turned on Sting at Hard Justice because Sting lied to everyone about why he came back. He said Sting said he would be the champion but he isn't. Cage was full heel. Rhino comes to the ring and says that he's tired of listening to Cage talk and wants Cage to explain himself. Cage says that Rhino is good friends with Sting and he can see why because Sting was there for him all the time, like when Rhino broke his neck. He says that Sting visited him in the hospital and was there for him when he had problems with his wife, then corrects himself and reminds Rhino that he was the one actually there for him, not Sting. Cage hands Rhino a chair and turns him back on Rhino, asking him if he'll allow 10 years of friendship to be ruined. Rhino says he doesn't need a chair and starts brawling with Cage. Cage nails him with the chair and gives him the Conchairto. They announced a 10,000 Thumbtack match for next week on Impact with Abyss vs. Brother Runt. Jim Mitchell came to the announce table. Abyss pinned Cassidy Riley with the Black Hole Slam. He poured a bag of tacks into the ring, then punched them, impaling his fists with the tacks. Mike Tenay and Don West announced that Sting had signed the contract. Jeff Jarrett came out and said that he would execute the contract next week and also promised a "public execution next week" as well. Impact Thursday 8/31: NWA Tag Team champions LAX come to the ring. Konnan says that they dedicate their tag titles to the famous Latino wrestlers like Mil Mascaras, the Guerreros, Pedro Morales, and Tito Santana. AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels appeared on the video screen. Daniels said that they made a mistake giving LAX the title match but now they have a rematch and LAX will have to play their game. They announce an Ultimate X match for the NWA Tag Team straps at No Surrender on 9/24. Chris Sabin & Jay Lethal defeated TNA X-Division champion Senshi and Petey Williams. Williams and Senshi collided in the ring, so Senshi stood there and watched as Sabin pinned Williams. Eric Young pinned Shark Boy. After the match, Earl Hebner tries to pull Slick Johnson out of the ring and is escorted out. In the 10,000 thumbtacks match, Abyss defeated Brother Runt. Abyss blocked an Acid Drop and slammed Runt on the tacks. After the match, Abyss teased pressing and slamming Runt out of the ring through tables covered in thumb tacks. Raven made the save and then put Abyss through the tables. Jeff Jarrett came out to execute the contract. There was a noose hanging from the rafters and a "firing squad" in the ring. Jarrett had a "fan" (plant) thrown out after he threw a bottle at Jarrett. Jarrett said that he was going to publicly execute Sting's career. He said that the pen is mightier than the sword and signs the contract. A telephone at the announcing table rings and it's Jim Cornette. Cornette announces that the match will happen at Bound for Glory and he's tired of all the conspiracies, so next week, Jarrett will "be on trial." He noted that Jarrett passed a lie detector test and if he passes this, he won't have to wrestle until Bound for Glory. If Jarrett fails any part of the test, the fans will get their chance to get even with Jarrett. So, Joe doesn't get the belt at BFG I guess.

Magus 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 HA, knew it. Jarrett is NOT putting Joe over in any meaningful way EVER. I'd say he's not putting anyone else over either. BFG will be some mixture of Sting, Christian, Rhino, and JJ. Rhino and Cage are in good with D'Amore after all. Sting isn't getting his big win over Jarrett because Cage will keep getting in the way, and even if Rhino is next in line for the title, he's already been made Jarrett's bitch before, so it'll just happen again. Joe will probably get stuck now carrying Monty to a decent match at BFG. Or if they're really stupid, they can have JJ/Rhino/Joe as the main event and put over Joe without having him pin the champ. No matter how they play this out, it's gonna suck. But I've given up hope on these guys anyway. They can screw up Joe's push just as easily as WCW screwed up Benoit's. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 That had to be a typo cause it makes no sense for them to not mention NO SURRENDER at all for the title. I'm guessing it means if he passes the test, he doesn't wrestle Sting or anyone else at No Surrender but if he loses he'll probably be stuck in a cage match with Sting. If it truly means Sting vs JJ at BOUND, I have no CLUE what they are doing anymore. None whatsoever. ETA: Checking more results, seems he did say BOUND. Ok, I have no god damn CLUE what is going on. Joe just got dropped into LIMBO! God damn you Jeff Jarrett and TNA.

Joe vs.JJ at No Surrender is what am predicting Joe absent from the shows means they have something huge plan for him and will build him up with promos instead. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 There can't be any way this goes off as planned. Or maybe I can see Joe getting a shot before BFG, either at No Surrender or at the TNA prime time special. Seriously, I find most of these Jarrett antics amusing since I look at him in almost a spoof sort of way. As in he's parodying what a serious heel would do. But there is no way they can justify keeping the belt on him past BFG given his total lack of positive heat.
AlaskanHero 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 Usually I support TNA's odd booking choices, trying to so the big picture, but now I'm kinda confused as to how TNA can miss the rather obvious booking move of putting Joe in the main event of Bound for Glory. Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 Cornette announces that the match will happen at Bound for Glory and he's tired of all the conspiracies, so next week, Jarrett will "be on trial." He noted that Jarrett passed a lie detector test and if he passes this, he won't have to wrestle until Bound for Glory. If Jarrett fails any part of the test, the fans will get their chance to get even with Jarrett. I think a lot of you are jumping the gun. Read that part of the spoiler again. Jarrett will fail the test, meaning a)the fans will choose to pit him against Joe at No Surrender, Joe will win the belt, and then JJ/Sting can wrap up at Bound For Glory without the title involved. Then there's option b)The fans will choose to have Jarrett have to take Sting on right away, at No Surrender, leaving the title shot open for Joe at Bound For Glory. A distant chance would be to have Joe win the belt on an episode of Impact, but I can't see that happening at all, unless they really do hope to spike ratings and give us a marquee main event episode. Magus 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 Sting retires Jarrett from TNA in October and takes the belt, faces Christian at the November PPV, then gets destroyed by Joe at the December PPV and bows out of TNA. Maybe this could work. Jarrett is by no means TNA's biggest heel. Christian could easily take the top heel spot, as could many others. But Jarrett isn't ducking out. Four years and he hasn't put over one soul to create a new star. In fact, everything in TNA has served to put Jarrett over, and that's just the way it's gonna be. There is NO WAY that Jarrett is "retiring" from TNA. And even if he does, he'll just show up later and screw Joe out of the title and we'll be back at square one. Mark my words, Joe WILL put over Jarrett. It's just a matter of time. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Jarrett actually did win his big final match against Sting, and a whole year of build up has been to just put him over yet again. I like the idea of people walking out when Jarrett comes out. It would send a powerful message.
cmpunk04 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 i dont normally post here but i mailed Meltzer about the Joe situation and by the looks of it Joe vs Jarrett is not happening yet. heres my mail and the reply: hi dave, sorry to bother you but i was wondering if you know whats going on with TNA. judging from the look at last nights tapings Sting vs Jarrett is headlining Bound For Glory. does this mean they have given up on Samoa Joe's push? Surely this would be bad business? thanks, And this is the response: No, Joe is planned to be the top singles star after Sting vs. Jarrett comes to a logical conclusion, not doing a screw job and not following up with the logical progression. Joe is under contract for years, rushing the title on him serves no purpose,

cmpunk04 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 Uh-hu, and if a certain bald Spike favourite just so happens to start up with TNA right after JJ retires Sting, then Joe will just have to wait a little longer....and longer... exactly, and then the cycle will go over and over again. As soon as a name becomes available TNA will sign them up and push them into feuds either with or against Jarrett meaning Joe will keep getting overlooked. Its the way TNA has been for ages now. Tell me one name worker who has came in and not had interaction with Jarrett and I bet nobody can come up with anyone.
