Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2007 According to Alvarez, 'Santiano' was apparently only told Sunday that he needed to fly out to Italy for this deal, so it was literally a last minute deal.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2007 see...that's what I'm saying. I don't understand the direction they're going with Umaga, but to me, it's the same thing you see with a guy getting depushed. Ultimately, this whole thing is to get Lashley over...where does that leave Umaga? In big trouble. Umaga hasn't gotten the upper hand on Lashley by himself once that I can recall. They need to let Umaga get big time one on one revenge next week to fix what has been done to him. And I'm with HTQ and Lushus, that first part of the match made Umaga look really bad since he was really selling his ass off for a "fan". He should NOT have needed a no holds barred match to be able to take out a fan. The three chairshots look good if you ignore the rest of what happened. Guest robrabies Report post Posted April 17, 2007 It leaves Umaga like everyone else who is caught in the wake of the Hogan/Cena push--delegitimized as a threat. Instead of having a flexible system of top stars who could win the belt, you instead have one untouchable star who will never lose and whose challengers are viewed as fodder, not threats. It establishes the fuck out of the champ, and kills everyone else. Lazy and stupid booking 101.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2007 I don't think it made Umaga look weak at all. It took three chairshots and a spear from Lashley to get the job done. And remember the Fed most always lines up big debuts after Mania, and IMO this was a terrific way to introduce a new guy and giving him an instant story. The crowd loved it, so I guess mission accomplished. The live crowd loved it, because it was booked as a local hero winning. But why would anyone else care? Some random Italian fan as a champion is kind of a strange idea, and I don't think he'll be over in North America at all.
foleyfanforever88 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2007 My proposed Summerslam main events: Edge © vs Jeff Hardy- WWE Championship, Ladder Match Undertaker © vs Kennedy- World Heavyweight Championship Lashley © vs CM Punk DX vs MNM John Cena vs Randy Orton
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2007 Kinda hard to do DX/MNM since Joey Mercury is no longer employed.
foleyfanforever88 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2007 Kinda hard to do DX/MNM since Joey Mercury is no longer employed. Yes, I know that. But I'm fairly confident he'll be back soon enough. As a side note, I would book that card with Taker retaining in the middle of the card, and Punk taking the title from Lashley. Then at the end of the ladder match main event, Jeff goes for a swanton bomb off an "OMG 60 FOOT LADDER" but Edge moves, spear, Edge retains the title. Then, Kennedy hits the ring and nails Edge with a chair. Throws his briefcase to the ref, bell rings, Kennedy climbs to the top of the ladder and hits the Kenton Bomb (looking at Jeff like 'this is how its done') on Edge. Kennedy wins the title. EDIT: Triple H's return match would probably end up being the ME. The WWE title match would go on 2nd to last.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2007 I don't think they needed to point out that, conveniently enough, the "randomly chosen" fan happened to be a trained wrestler who dreamed of a WWE position. Would've been better if they acted like it was his first time ever seeing wrestling live, or something mildly sensible. Yeah, that'd be a great gimmick to give the Intercontinental Champion, 'guy who's never watched wrestling'. Watch the buyrates soar!
BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2007 He could be the guy pointing out all the logical errors on the show Orton: We are going to destroy Cena tonight. Guy: Why are we discussing our plans in front of this camera? Orton: What camera? Guy: That one right there. And why did you just get here, in the last 30 minutes before the show's over? And why a 2 on 1 handicap match anyway? Can't Coach just put Cena in a match with the whole roster? Orton: Uh....

I'm dead fucking serious. If Vince decided he wanted to push his dog, and the bookers put the belt on him and gave him hours of segments, the fanbase would STILL buy PPVs. Guest robrabies Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Question: Who are the worst 5 main eventers ever on the mic?? Doesn't Lashley have to be in that lisp...errr list??
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Sid Lex Luger
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Sid was great for all the wrong reasons. Does Yoko count? It wasn't really his character to speak anyways outside of BANZAI! Lesnar took a long time to get going with promos as well. Orton is usually atrocious doing promos. Luger was mentioned and that is a no-brainer.

Corkscrew_Senton 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Sid was amazing. I'd say Justin Credible was pretty bad. Oh god. He tried to compensate being awful on the mic by screaming a stream of obscenities. WTF was Pauley thinking? "Hey, my company's in the shitter financially. Mike Awesome jumped ship as champion. I know! Why don't I make this so-so worker with well-below-average mic skills champion!"
Guest robrabies Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Orton has been bad lately, but he's not terrible on the mic by any means. You can find his interview segment with Carlito the day after SS '06 that started their feud. It's a good piece of work. His stairwell promo was gold, and he cut a nice one before he gave the RKO to Moolah.

Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Orton's fine in taped skits or quick backstage promos but 90% of his routine consists of repeating his lines and mentioning destiny at least 3-4 times per sentence.

Nothing beats an intense fast talking Orton, like that promo against Edge that happened not so long ago. "THE RING YOU BETTAH GET OUT OF THIS RING. THE RING YOU BETTER GET OUT. ARGRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH" And he's yelling this out all mush mouthed like while Edge has got out of the ring before even Orton got in there.

He didn't say "You'd better get out of this ring", as if there were someone in the ring. He said it as "You'd better get out of this ring", as in 'yeah you damn well better run'. He clearly emphasised the right word. Of all the things to bitch about regarding Orton, this ranks somewhere near the top on the 'bitch for the sake of bitching' list.
