Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2006 I better see some fresh blood in the Wii numbers thread. I'll have mine up after the new year. I can't get it online until I'm back at college. Incidentally, I think this is the first time I've posted anything since the morning I got my Wii. It has devoured my life. If I'm not playing it, I'm taking it to someone else's house to play it with them. Believe it or not, a friend of mine wanted to sell his (overheated) Xbox 360 and buy a Wii after playing Wii Sports once. I honestly think I've sold three or four Wiis for Nintendo. I picked up Zelda two weeks ago and I'm at the Goron Mines and loving it.
Blue Bacchus 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2006 If they have product, it must be on display and not horded to drive up prices and demand. If there isn't stock already out on the shelves. When I used to be at Blockbusters that was how it worked, and so we always made sure we had our product out (for sale that is, rentals is a different story strangely enough). I don't think Blockbuster in terms of products being put out just like Best Buy, right? That's incorrect. The stores are not driving up the prices, the second hand market is. If a store wants to save some of their systems till the middle of the week, they will and can.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2006 I waited in from midnight until 8 AM at Circuit City this morning, with a 101 fever and some booze. They had *eight* systems. I was fifth in line and my two friends were six and seven. We must've turned away like 80 people until morning, but still, a bunch (like 30) sticked around, despite the sign saying they only had eight. So annoying hearing them bitch, they get there at 6:00 AM and are shocked the line was filled. Some guy offered me a PlayStation 3 and $100. I told him to go away. Like I want that bugged up shit. I ran out of the store screaming "OOOOoooooo....Wiiiiiii!" at the crowd of dissapointed assholes and went home to sleep.

UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2006 The manager who gave the "Elite 8" the vouchers first gave us this talk about "how many of the Wiis he has sold have been returned" and how we should get some $50 insurance to make our lives easier. Which was such a buzzkill. No one bought said insurance. They had a few nunchuks, like 14 games (3 of them looked good, incl. Zelda). No Trauma, Red Steel, Marvel Alliance, though. Disappointing. This Circuit City was in Lawrenceville, NJ by the way. I also tried one in Philly and one in Deptford, NJ. I shared a TON of information that I learned in this thread with the people in line. A couple of whom were college friends that lined up around 11 PM and were all "Hurry up, get in line!" Funny story of the night: Me & 2 friends roll up to CC at midnight, drive by a van that is pulled over by a cop RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE ENTRANCE, and park and get out. Minutes later, the cop car drives away, and the van pulls up with teens in it, ready to get in line. Only problem is - the line is now full. Thanks cops. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2006 Amazon Wii/PS3 Lottery (ends tonight) Now this shit is right up my alley. Took like four seconds. The odds on the Wii are only 25:1 right now..not that bad with about 4 hours to go. I went ahead and for the hell of it put an order in for the PS3. I could either sell it back or keep it as a cheap BR player.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2006 *sigh* I struck out...got to the nearest Super Target around 5:20, number 33 in line...by 6:15, the manager came out and said they only had 18 systems and it was first come first serve. Of course heaven forbid they do anything like a lottery or something, but I guess if I really wanted it that bad I should have got there earlier. Oh well, I opted to get a new comp. anyway since my old one went to shit again.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 18, 2006 Lotteries would actually make sense. It's like these stores want losers to hang around their store all night... Now, if these stores were smart... they'd tell the people in line that they're not selling until 4pm or something, which would make them hang around and buy stuff. Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 18, 2006 Toys 'R Us is saying they're getting "thousands" of Wii's this week. Also, rumor is the next "big" shipments will be coming for the 29th. That is when I'm finally getting this damn thing.
Guest NYankees Report post Posted December 18, 2006 Thousands of Wii this week divided by how many Thousands of stores?
devo 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2006 There's about 600 Toys 'R Us stores in the US, so even the most conservative estimate puts three or four Wiis at each store.

Maybe its a business policy then, though I was sure that's why. And I'm striking out on finding a Wii this morning. Future Shop didn't get any (at least the location nearest me didn't) and if its an afternoon shipment then I'm screwed because I'm stuck here at work. The late night long lines draw attention to the stores, so yes, a store may want a long late night line of losers in front of their store.

Downhome 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2006 I called two Walmarts, they said they had about six Wiis in stock, I took off to go get one and before I even got there they were sold out. That's it, I give up on actually trying to get a Wii. I'm pissed and frustrated over it, and it's not worth the headache anymore. If I just happen to be in a store and I see one, I'll buy it, but I'm not going to go out of my way to try to find one anymore.
Sideburnious 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2006 I think I'm going have to wait until I've finished college/ in the summer to get a Wii. I'll just have to concentrate on graduating first, and I probably wont get a chance to play it until then anyway. Besides, I still love my gamecube.
dubq 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2006 You're nowhere near the 100 "UR MOM PLAYED WITH MY WII LOLLZZZ" topics at Gamefaqs. The sad part is that I've actually heard someone making this joke in person. Of course it was at an EB Games, and the guy making it probably couldn't find his "Wii" anyway due to the size of his gut. But yeah. It was sad nonetheless.

Saturday I heard people discussing how Nintendo had recalled the Wii completely. (when of course it's just the strap) and in October I heard some people complaining because "Zelda is out in the lower 48, but we don't get it until December!!" To me they're the equivalent of the guys who you'd see at WWF house shows talking really loudly in line about all the "insider" news they're privy to - such as Kerry Von Erich being the Ultimate Warrior because the original Warrior was dead. Also - every single time I enter an EB Games store, it always smells like farts in there. Big time. Like all these guys are eating is Taco Bell or something.
