Wii

Recommended Posts

It's kind of like Mario vs. Donkey Kong, or the Lolo games. Side view puzzler/platformer. You're a chubby little yellow chick trying to recover his brothers/sister's eggs to get them to safety. You gradually get different items to make things easier. You start with a bridge-building ability, you later get a teleport, and so on. The items are usually limited-use, so sometimes you may need to restart if you get yourself to a point where you can't finish. But each stage is pretty short, so you should be able to nail a solution with enough forethought...or trial and error.

However, the game gets pretty hard in the later stages. It's not so much twitch reaction as it is thinking. If you liked Zack and Wiki, it's along the same lines. You can actually play it like Zack and Wiki, using the pointer to control movement, or go for a nunchuck or something to play it like the original GBC.

There are trailers available through the Nintendo Channel as well.

I need to finish the first one. I've not played that game in so long, I need to pick it up again.

Having said that, I need to play NiGHTS again. I've only played it twice!

The Wii one?

That's enough play. You'll grow to hate it with enough time, I suspect. :P

I dont think its really a game. It's more of a way of seeing the pokemon you've already caught. Like a storage place for them.

That fatal frame looks pretty sweet.

I want Illusion of Gaia on the VC. I used to love that game as a kid.

I wonder if it's still any good or if I'm going to wind up horribly disappointed... like Startropics.

Did anyone download My pokemon ranch on wii-ware? Im wondering what its like.

The game lets you deposit and withdraw your pokemon, lets you watch them interact. In addition, she'll challenge you to collect Pokemon you don't have in your Pokedex, and will reward you with trades. You can earn a Phione or a Mew if you do well.

Has anyone else tried to do a system update and not been able to connect to the server? I'm finally getting around to hooking my Wii up to the internet, but I can't download the update needed to access the Wii Shop channel.

Today Alex Kidd in Miracle World is on Virtual Console.

As supposedly being a non-shitty game, I have to ask, is it really?

(I thought Genesis' Enchanted Castle was an unplayable turdburglar.)

So I lucked out while on my latest excursion to Tokyo. Found the Super Famicom "Club Nintendo" version of the Wii Classic Controller! $40 and I gotta say, completely worth it. Much more comfortable than the normal Wii Classic Controller!

It really bothers me when they release these games that are already populated on the Genesis Collection that I own for PS2. I know not everyone has it or has a PS2 for that matter.. but it still bugs me. I feel like they should be releasing older FF games or DW games or even fucking Pro Wrestling. Sure it's not a GREAT game.. but I'd rather have that than Alex Kid... :P

Miracle World is a Master System game and/so it wasn't on the Sega Genesis Collection.

Square isn't going to let Nintendo put Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest up because they can release remakes on portable systems for 30-40 bucks a pop. That's why we have King's Knight and not Chrono Trigger. Maybe, just maybe, they'll start doing it for FF1 and 2 since they've remade them FOUR FUCKING TIMES already.

Also, having the games on a compilation on another system doesn't mean it shouldn't be on VC. I have no idea when the Wii SNK Arcade Collection is coming out, but come hell or high water, I would like to be able to play a full-speed Shock Troopers on it or VC, instead of that travesty that is Shock Troopers on the PS2 SNK Arcade Collection.

Oh no doubt. Though, I kinda wish they'd use that Everybody Votes channel for something useful.. like deciding some upcoming VC releases.

Hey Andrew, I like Miracle World a lot. Moreso than Enchanted Castle, which I don't hate as much as you do (but that might only because the three Alex Kidd sequels for Master System are so freakin' horrible). MW and EC have the same structure and gameplay style, but Miracle World is just more fun. I can't say why or how. It just is.

You all suck.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World is the greatest game ever made ever anywhere ever.

Man, I grew up playing that game, was waiting forever for someone to draft it in the Video Games draft.

Enchanted Castle was the worst follow-up ever. Just like Alex Kidd & The Lost Stars.

...

Bow down to his greatness:

If you're using a wireless router, switch the channel to 1 or 11.

I tried that -- turns out I was on channel 11 to start with. Neither one makes a difference.

Can you provide Router make, model number, and firmware version?

It's a Netgear MR814. I don't know how to find out what firmware version it is.

In my experience, Netgear routers are terrible for Wii online, and have never worked for me. I prefer Linksys.

However, new information has come to light that may hold hope for you.

First, upgrade your router to the latest firmware. It looks like there are, at least, three different versions of the MR814 (denoted by MR814, MR814v2, MR814v3). There may be more than three at this point, but I think you know how to find the right version. Find out which one you have by looking at the bottom of the router itself. Then go to netgear.com and download the latest firmware if you need to. I know you said you don't know how to find out your firmware version, but I forget what the UI of the Netgear router setup looks like. Usually it's under somethnig like "Admin Settings' or something like that. If you don't have the latest firmware, update update update.

Then, try disabling the router's SPI Firewall. This is apparently the thing that breaks compatibility with the Wii.

You may also want to try setting up the Wii to connect via a static IP (Portforward.com will help with that), and setting your router to DMZ that Static IP.

If that doesn't work, buy a Linksys.
