cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2006 Same deal as last week, here are the games for week 3 with predictions and I'm also going to add the spreads this time. 1:00 games: NY Jets at Buffalo (Buffalo by 6). The Bills have been a nice surprise thus far. I'll go with the Bills here at home, by roughly the 6 predicted. Cincinnati at Pittsburgh (Pitt by 3). With Roethlisberger ailing it's tough to know what to expect here, but the Bengals look stronger thus far. Cincy by 7 in a big road win. Jacksonville at Indianapolis (Indy by 9 1/2). The Colts need to end the Jags hype before it gets absurd, and they'll likely do so. They won't cover though. Colts by 7 or so in an ugly 14-7 type game. Tennessee at Miami (Miami by 11). Wow, Dolphins favored by THIS much despite totally sucking thus far? I will take Miami to pick up their first win, but they won't cover here. Miami by 3. Washington at Houston (Washington by 4). Washington might be inept, but that aren't so inept as to lose to the Texans. Skins by 6. Chicago at Minnesota (Chicago by 3). Bears have been stellar against awful teams thus far, but now they have a test. Vikings have won close ones thus far, and for some reason I see them pulling this off by hook or crook. Vikings by 3 (what else?). Carolina at Tampa Bay (Carolina by 3). Matchup of two surprising 0-2 teams. Not sure what Steve Smith's status is, but the Panthers have been less crappy than the Bucs. Simms will toss another 3 INTs as the Panthers win by 10. Green Bay at Detroit (Detroit by 6 1/2). It's like the blind vs. the blind. Favre had trouble winning in Detroit in his prime, can't see him winning now. Lions by 7. 4:00 games: Baltimore at Cleveland (Baltimore by 6 1/2). This will be an ugly game. Ravens continue the beatings and likely injure someone from the Browns. Ravens by 17. St. Louis at Arizona (Arizona by 4 1/2). Kurt Warner vs. his former team! The Rams are a puzzling team, beating Denver and then losing at SF. I'll go with the Cardinals here by 6, but have no real conviction on this one either way. NY Giants at Seattle (Seattle by 3 1/2). Game of the day, 3rd week in a row for the Giants. Seattle got an ultra lame win over NY last year with Feeley's missed FGs. Won't happen again. Giants pick up a big road win as Feeley redeems himself, or at least doesn't suck as bad. Giants by 3. Philadelphia at San Francisco (Philly by 6). It's a tough one to predict since it's hard to gauge the Niners thus far. Can't see the Eagles losing this one though. Philly 28-20. 8:00 game: Denver at New England (NE by 6 1/2). Denver has looked really bad thus far and is lucky to be 1-1. Pats have picked up 2 uninspired wins. Since this is a revenge game for NE I'll take them to humble Jake the Snake and win by 7. MNF: Atlanta at New Orleans (can't find the line yet). Saints are a nice feel good story, but the Falcons are better than them. Atlanta by 10.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted September 19, 2006 What Jags hype. I guess you watched a lot of ESPN the last 24 hours. I'm putting quite a bit of money on the Jets this week. Very confident on that game. Hopefully it pans out.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2006 Billy Volek traded to Chargers Great deal for the Chargers, who only appear to be giving up a 5th or 6th round pick. Having a back-up who isn't Charlie Whitehurst--and who could probably start in this league just fine if he wasn't a dope--is more than worth that.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2006 The Colts like the Steelers will have no running game against the Jags so expect Manning to throw 50 passes to every single player on the offense. The Jags will win the game on a INT return for a TD late in the 4th quarter by Mathis or Peterson. The game will be more ugly than Raven/Brown and Panthers/Bucs and Packers/Lions....damn the whole week looks ugly. 10-7 Jags.
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2006 If Droughns can cause another LB to be wheeled off the field, I'll be a happy man. It won't happen . . . the Browns will lose and with Cleveland's luck, will lose Charlie Frye for the year.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted September 19, 2006 What happened with Volek and the Titans anyway. He was a productive QB the few chances he started there. Then, all of a sudden, he was trash this preseason.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2006 I find it humorous that they find Kerry Collins to be more valuable than Volek...they may as well toss Young out there and see what he can do.

jwest27 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 Well, he did more than Kerry Collins. Not saying much, I know.
devo 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 I always particularly enjoy watching Jets/Bills. Should be a fairly competitive contest, so long as Pennington continues his string of surprisingly good performances intact.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 Well, he did more than Kerry Collins. Not saying much, I know. I knew Collins had a horrible day, but I didn't know until I watched PTI that his QB rating Sunday was 1.3. He's one step away from being Aaron Brooks. I knew Collins had a horrible day, but I didn't know until I watched PTI that his QB rating Sunday was 1.3. He's one step away from being Aaron Brooks. At least Collins could occasionally win a game as the Raiders QB. Brooks can't even do that because he's fumbling 4 times a game.
teke184 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 What happened with Volek and the Titans anyway. He was a productive QB the few chances he started there. Then, all of a sudden, he was trash this preseason. I think Volek's problem was along the lines of Tennessee having salary cap issues the last few years, so the remaining talent pool is pretty thin. It's hard to look good at QB if your protection sucks and you only have one good receiver.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 Here is the difference in the Colts and Steelers: The Colts at least KNOW they have no running game. It'll be an ugly game, but the Colts will stagger to some sort of victory. I mean come on, JAX has won due to having a field day with friggin Drew Bledsoe and Ben Roethlisberger with a 104 fever coming off an appendectomy. The Jags hype hasn't gotten going full steam, which is what I mean by saying the Colts need to nip this in the bud before people seriously start thinking the Jaguars can, you know, do something. Guest Report post Posted September 20, 2006 Ben Roethlisberger let the Jags offense get over 350 yards?
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted September 20, 2006 If the Jags win at IND, then that it is something as they'd have a virtual 2 game lead in the South. And hype would be deserved. If not, they'll again be the team that wins a bunch of games because TEN and HOU blow.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 I find it humorous that they find Kerry Collins to be more valuable than Volek...they may as well toss Young out there and see what he can do. He can prove he'll need to change his throwing motion and that the offensive line is horrible. At least with Collins out there they aren't really losing anything of value if he gets beat around. Just don't let him talk to Vince or offer anyone pointers on how to be a good quarterback. His "stare at the receiver you are going to throw to and make sure you alert everyone by pointing him out first" doesn't seem to be the greatest teaching method. MrRant 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 Opponents trying to quiet Qwest Field? Supposedly there was a call placed by the Giants on the noise at Qwest stadium. This is just going to make it louder.

The same thing goes for snipers who feel like they're being overlooked by the national media.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2006 So I like to see how the Giants defence going to match up against the Seahawks offense. Some quick screens and some slants, and that secondary is dead.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted September 24, 2006 Yeah, I know it's only been two weeks and all, but I think that NFC East is looking really weak. Like NFC North/West or AFC East/South weak. Giants and Redskins were kinda overrated and while the Cowboys have some weapons, a QB controversy a couple weeks into the season doesn't forebode well. In fact, I think the only two good division races this year will be in the NFC South and the AFC North.
