AmericanDragon 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2006 One of my friends last night made a good comment re: Silva facing the TUF winner: "That's supposed to be your reward?" At least that guy will get paid more than Franklin did to get his ass kicked by Silva.

randomguy 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2006 The finale for TUF 4 isn't for a while, and then that guy will need a layoff after the finale, but I suppose that isn't too long for Silva to be inactive. How often are titles defended, maybe once every 4 events or so? Swick or Marquadt would be logical choices after TUF4 jobber. Swick is more recognizable but Marquadt has a better chance of winning. I see Swick going first and maybe Marquadt getting on a PPV undercard as a way to build him up a bit. Of course if Swick loses his next fight then who knows. Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2006 Marquardt vs. Lister is being discussed for UFC 66, and White thinks Swick also needs another fight before facing Silva. With both of those fights likely after the season finale, it looks like the TUF 4 winner will be next in line. EDIT: The finale is only a month away, so the difference between layoff/prep time between its winner and Silva shouldn't be too much of an issue.
AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2006 Marquardt vs Lister scares me; it could either be really competitive or horribly boring.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2006 Both guys know what others think of them so hopefully that'll provide some motivation for them to.....ya know.....not bore the crowd to death. The real question is whether or not UFC will risk putting that on live or relegate it to undercard?

Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2006 Marquardt should punch Lister in the face. Like, a whole lot.
I like Forums 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2006 I'm a fan of Dean Lister's, mostly just because I'm a grappling mark. I did like his matches against Sakara and Arona.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2006 Medical suspensions are up, nothing significant cept for Franklin and Fitch who are both done until April with nasal fractures. Sucks for Fitch as I'm sure UFC had plans to put him on another card before then.

randomguy 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2006 Yeah according to what I read Franklin is out until April or until he has a note saying his nasal passage thing is cleared up. Seems kind of weird - shouldn't the person be out forever until they have the problem cleared up? I don't understand why a timetable is attached at all. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2006 I don't think the timetable is anything official but there is also a "Contact not allowed until _____" area of the suspensions which I assume relates to how long before they're allowed to go back to their training regimes or specifically stuff like sparring/grappling.
