BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2006 Here's a more detailed set that seems to indicate the tag match was not for the titles. From PWInsider.com WWE Smackdown was filmed in Florence, South Carolina last night, and here are the results of the show: In a dark match, Henry Godwin (with the slop bucket) and Ray Gordy defeated Rob Conway and Tatanka when Godwin hit the Slop Drop on Conway. Smackdown began with a hearse parked near the entrance ramp. Ken Kennedy came to the ring and talked about how he had beaten the Undertaker twice and had nothing left to prove. The bells then tolled, the hearse backed up to the ring, and the Undertaker got out. Kennedy ran out of the ring and escaped through the crowd as the Undertaker posed. William Regal and Dave Taylor defeated London and Kendrick. London was outside the ring protecting Ashley or something of the sort when Kendrick was pinned. Once again, we got the World Heavyweight Champion wrestling in the middle of the show next as Batista beat Finlay by disqualification. Little Bastard came out from under the ring during the match and jumped off of the top turnbuckle. Batista caught him, and I believe this is when Finlay hit Batista with the shillelagh. Then, King Booker ran out and got Finlay dq'ed as they both beat Batista down. Surprisingly, Cena did not appear to help Batista. In the next match, Jimmy Wang Yang beat Jamie Noble for the number one contendership to the Cruiserweight title. I assume this will take place at Armageddon. Gregory Helms was commentating during this match. Chris Benoit did a backstage interview talking about Chavo and Vickie when Vickie walked up in a neck brace and whined about Benoit knocking her off the apron. She then slapped Benoit and stormed off. When she got around the corner, Chavo was there waiting. They chuckled about it, and it seemed like Vickie was faking the injury. MVP complained to Teddy Long about being put in the Inferno Match at Armageddon against Kane. Long said he would give MVP a chance to soften Kane up next week on Smackdown, as it would be MVP and Ken Kennedy against Kane...and the Undertaker. MVP flipped out. Chris Benoit beat Sylvan in a squash. The Miz beat Scotty 2 Hotty in a quick match. Afterwards, Boogieman came down and beat on Miz outside the ring. He then ate worms. The main event was Ken Kennedy vs. Kane. MVP came out and helped Kennedy beat Kane down. Undertaker's music hit and the lights went out. When the lights came back on, Kane was gone. Then the lights went out again and when they came back on, Undertaker and Kane were standing in the ring behind MVP and Kennedy. I assume this is where Smackdown went off the air. The four men had a match afterwards (probably a dark match), but I left before it was over. So, after this taping, the Armageddon card is taking shape. In addition to the 3 matches already announced, it appears that Benoit will take on Chavo, Regal and Taylor will get a tag title shot against Kendrick and London, Gregory Helms will defend the Cruiserweight title against Jimmy Wang Yang, and the Boogieman will face the Miz. I wonder if the dark match result indicates Conway coming to SD?

Ginger Snaps 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2006 I'm so bored with "random heel in feud with Undertaker is scared of his spooky supernatural powers". That's every Undertaker feud since Wrestlemania XX. I don't think there is anyone in the company who's feuds are more cookie cutter than his.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2006 I'm so bored with "random heel in feud with Undertaker is scared of his spooky supernatural powers". That's every Undertaker feud since Wrestlemania XX. I don't think there is anyone in the company who's feuds are more cookie cutter than his. They can't do anything else with the current Undertaker character. He can't be scared, can't be hurt unless it's against a giant, can't sell anything emotional, so all they really have is the same formula of Undertaker using his 'supernatural powers' to scare the chickenshit heel. They'd have more leeway if Undertaker was willing to sell for people who aren't giants, but that isn't happening.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2006 What gets me is that on some occasion, Undertaker will decide to go "MMA" and throw the dead-man gimmick to the side and have a wrestling match instead. If the American Badass character is what it takes to keep that version of the Undertaker active, then so be it. This version is just a great entrance and plodding matches. With the WM main event set for WM right now, it's just going to be turned up.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2006 I wonder if the dark match result indicates Conway coming to SD? I hope so, but probably not. Hey, team him up w/ Noble, since the Teacher's Pets have seemingly fallen off the face of the earth (probably due to Michelle McCool's injury/condition/whatever). Looks like they're still building to Kendrick & London breaking up over Ashley, which is going to suck. Working as a team is probably the best option for them, as much as a feud between the 2 would probably rock. Breaking them up would also eliminate the only face team on the show. I hope they go back to what originally got Bats over... the smart cool face. He shouldn't be afraid of Taker's "powers", but he should not crap all over them, as it makes everyone else who has fallen for them look like shit... if that makes sense. King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 When was the last time Helms defended the Cruiserweight Title?
Just John 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 Helms defended the title, ironically against Jimmy Wang Yang, the week before Survivor Series I think. And how quickly people forget the Angle/Taker feud. UT was doing all his dark powers shit, but Angle never backed down and still got right in his face telling him how he was going to break his ankle. It was simple and effective, and it's exactly what they should do with Batista.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2006 The little Bastard was driving the Hearst. >_> I had a mental picture of LB on HHH's shoulders hitting him making him go.. That was a pretty ok SD all things considered. Again, MVP is so obviously losing the inferno match as long as he's dressed up as a power ranger. I couldn't care one bit about Cena/Batista vs Finlay/Booker. Taker/Mr. Kennedy wont be any better than at SS.
Hasbeen1 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2006 I like MVP a lot more than I did at first. I forgot to tape the show tonight, no surprise. Anyone know how close Ray Gordy is to moving up, if close at all. And would a heel turn for the Undertaker showing his supernatural powers are all just special effects work, like he's been paying backstage technicians for years to intimidate and frighten opponents, etc. That would be the end to the gimmick for good, but he could have one more badass run after that too. Enigma 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2006 Given how awesome Booker T. has been in the King Booker gimmick, I now wonder how well he would have pulled off Papa Shango 2004 if they had went with it as UT's first feud after WM20.

It's pretty much the same thing over and over again Yeah, the, "I can easily defeat you but I must run away now, MOM!" approach is getting really old. I really don't know how you get around it though but it would be nice for someone to find a way to turn Taker's powers against him or something. Anything. Or hell, come to the ring with a flashlight when he makes the arena go dark.
Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2006 They can properly build it up by having the challenger not be afraid of Taker's powers and every week Taker tries something new to scare him but never works. A week before the PPV, have Taker do something really extreme and have the challenger be slightly freaked out and finally buy that Taker really has supernatural powers. That's all you gotta do.
