Office Christmas Parties

God did it take me forever to edit this to be readable. (thank you sober fiance). So I just got back from my all expenses paid office Christmas party. It was at a moderately expensive restaurant, where we had the room where the bar was reserved just for us. Everything was paid for by the office so I got a bunch of food and a LOT of drinks. After they closed we left to bars #2 and #3 and at bar #2 one of the partners paid for everything, and at bar #3 the guy I share an office with paid for everything. I lost my train of thought and I'll feel like shit in the morning so let's sum up: My office Christmas party was awesome, everyone else share your stories. Oh and also include what your Christmas bonuses are like if you get them. (I have a friend that's worked at the Home Depot for 4 years. Every year their bonus has dropped. from like 2 $50 gift cards to 1 $50 gift card, to 1 25$ gift card, to this year a 20% off coupon. lame).

We're only having a little party during work hours someday before Christmas. But, the bonus check was nice. A little more than a week's pay.

We're not allowed to drink in our building because it's a state owned building. So we move next door and they just load everyone up with free booze. One rare three hour period when I get to drink on Cornell's tab.

Technically, our "office" is in Tallahassee, so it's a far place to go for a little shindig. Plus I don't think my company would be too into shelling out the big dough on a party when you consider that we're pretty far down on the payscale compared to other states and other companies in the area.

We're a smallish company, and the CFO is the ultimate penny-pincher, to such an extent that it's pretty hilarious. He refused to allow the holiday party to be called a party, so it's "Holiday ... 2006" and will last maybe an hour this Friday. I think he budgeted about $250 for an office of 30 or so. I also don't think anyone's getting bonuses at all. We just won a $12 million government contract, by the way. I think he probably would have been taking our desks were that not the case.

Since I work for my family, we have an office lunch every year, where I'll get a bonus check and a pair of tickets to a Kings game. I am actually looking forward to next year when I can actually go to a Christmas party for whatever my new job will be.

I was temping at Buetler Heating & Air a couple of years ago, and I guess they send their employees up to Reno to some big hotel for a huge bash. The company provides commerical buses, or you can drive yourself. The only thing you pay for is a room if you want to stay over......

I worked for Target Distribution Center for 3 years, and every year it is at the hilton, the dinner was always good, but the party itself got lamer. First year they raffled prizes like big screens, dvd players, trips....by the time I left, it was mostly coupons and no speeches made or anything, people just showed up, ate and left.

Last time we had a party of any sorts, I ended up having to take my boss and his wife home cause they were drunk off their asses.

I laughed at the list of things you shouldn't do at an office party. If you're the boss you can do whatever the hell you want.

Oh, and no Holiday Bonus for me, but I did get a Wal Mart gift card for a whopping $18.

yeehaw.

We are having our office christmas party at the city golf course this year. The best part is that they are paying for the meal and I am getting a big T-Bone steak for my meal.

The rest of it is going to be boring though because it envolves my fellow teachers and I don't think many of them are big partiers.

The plant I work at has one that you have to pay to go to, so fuck that. We have a pot-luck kinda thing on night shifts, though, that are alright. Get about an extra hour off work in the middle of the shift to eat some turkey is always fine with me.

Off topic:

But i met a few people from Brockville this past weekend while working in Niagara Falls. They were kinda surprised that I knew where Brockville was.

I'm self employed and am the only employee, so I will celebrate by not putting on one more event/gathering for myself to attend. I may make margaritas to have with chips and salsa, though.

Yeah, nothing big ever happens here. And most people who come down this way will just go to Ottawa or Kingston.

Last year I had to work on christmas eve, so I just got blazed as shit and let my employees drink a six pack on the clock after we got the dock cleared off.

The penny-pinchers take the staff out to some place for lunch and they go home early. Fuck that. I stay in my office and finish up my work so I'm all caught up when I return from the Christmas holiday. Last year the President's secretary said, when she found out I didn't "RSVP" for this stupid thing, that I wouldn't be allowed to leave early and would have to stay all day. Of course I work 6:30-3, so it's only like working an extra two hours. Me alone at the job > spending lunch with several people I have zero respect for.

We had our at a Country Club this year ... really good food (Medallions of Beef was my entree) and open bar all night. We had a really shitty turn-out, though, because we had layoffs in October & November so people skipped the holiday party as a protest ... yeah, I work with a group of Rosa Parks' all-right.

I had to go, since I'm management & all, but it just meant that the open bar that was supposed to last 2 hours ended up lasting all night. We then went to the bar area of the Club, and I ended up winning $50.00 on games of pool. And I still got out of there early enough to meet friends at the bar near my apartment.

The Wal*mart I work at had a formal a few years ago. Though I didn't go, I'm told it was a pay for, but it was a bargain all things considered. Although it was scrapped due to grossly excessive drunkeness.

Wal*mart is taking over the world. The one I work for had a formal-esque one for the day crew and the younger crowd that works there had there own party at boston pizza.

Meeting up for drinks this evening with the people I worked with in the summer. I'm going to try my utmost to get some of them out of the perfectly odious bar where they're planning to start. I really really fucking hate that place, and plus it's surrounded by more decent venues. I'm meeting up with a different (better) crowd in a club later anyway.
