godthedog 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2007 wow. i'm probably a bigger fan of these elaborate jokes than i should be (i also really like ben folds's "bitches ain't shit"), but still, way to commit to your premise. considering the whole thing was probably thrown together in an afternoon, that was way better than it had any right to be. the drama part was especially enjoyable. bravo, to someone i always assumed had no sense of humor. godthedog 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2007 i also have a soft spot for those soaring, heartrending melodies she does. 'supposed former infatuation junkie' was in regular rotation in my car during my senior year of high school. that's quite a good album. i wish i hadn't gotten rid of it. Copper Feel 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2007 You need to get on that quick man, the original is far more hilarious unintentionally than this cover version is intentionally. Yes, I am being sarcastic the original is a pile of hot poop.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2007 I've never heard the original, either.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2007 I find that almost impossible not to have heard that horrible horrible song. I dodged it for like 4 months, but it eventually got me.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2007 It'd be easy to miss if you never watch television or leave the house.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2007 I don't: 1) watch MTV 2) listen to pop/Top 40 radio 3) hang around people who would have the urge to play me the song 4) frequent malls Where would I have heard the song? I've heard PART of the song since it was in a Verizon (I think) commercial, but I've never heard the song in its entirety.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2007 I went about 6-7 months without hearing it, and I'm a tremendous consumer. Good fortune.

I've heard PART of the song since it was in a Verizon (I think) commercial, but I've never heard the song in its entirety. All of these things describe me perfectly. Yet somehow I managed to hear this song. I don't listen to radio at all. Maybe its the mall thing that got me. I can't remember, but I definately have heard it. Copper Feel 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2007 Taking a taxi to school sealed my fate. The taxi driver in question has now being fired for stealing fees, so there is some justice to the situation.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2007 I'm pretty positive Fergie's version has been featured prominently in many TV commercials as well, no?
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2007 I'm pretty positive Fergie's version has been featured prominently in many TV commercials as well, no? Seems like it has. I don't watch MTV or listen pop radio, but I've heard this song countless times. All you have to do is leave the house or turn on a tv to be exposed it. Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2007 I am remembering now. I got exposed in a music store in the mall. And then at a Hawks game.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2007 I'm pretty positive Fergie's version has been featured prominently in many TV commercials as well, no? It was Michael Scott's ringtone on The Office. Might still be, actually. I don't think I've seen Alanis dance like that since she was in a video with Joey Tribbiani. Great parody/satire there.

starvenger 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2007 I think it was used pretty prominently in a cell phone commercial. That's how I remember hearing it (a lot). Yeah, Spiff was saying something about Verizon, but it I don't think it was recent, and we get a lot of simulcasting up here in Canada so I get maybe a third of the US cell ads you guys do. I do remember hearing it something like 5 times an hour when I went down to Houston though.

Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2007 I've even heard it before. But, never paid attention to the lyrics. Reason #19175 I never listen to music anymore. you don't watch movies, you don't listen to music....what do you do? porn? sex with the hubby?
Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted April 5, 2007 Movies - I regularly steal them, but rarely watch any myself. I'm just not the type of person that enjoys getting engrossed in a 2 hour story. Music - None. I hate 98% of fairly current stuff. My regular day consists of work. Posting online about sports, clothing and trolling. "Cook" something. Go online more. Occasional sporting events. Sex. Then, an episode of SVU before bed, to get those rape feelings in my dreams.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2007 you don't strike me as a person that converses about clothing.
Dr. Zaius 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2007 Just for the sake of comparison. Somewhere in the back of my head, I kind of assumed this song was always meant to be self-parody of how shallow hip hop can be, but the message was lost on 99% of music consumers. Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2007 Yeah, but then you would have to explain "London Bridges" and "Fergilicious". I don't think they were trying to make the point that many times.
