haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2008 The other day I was picking up The Mist on Blu Ray at Target. After I paid for it and the register was printing my receipt, I also received a coupon for $5 off a Blu Ray. So, today I went back and picked up Iron Man. The strange thing is the standard Blu Ray, and the Limited Edition that comes in a swank helmet case are both the same price, so I only ended up paying about $24 after tax. Good buy. Stole the pic from Ebay.
Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2008 That's the worst Batman mask I've ever seen. By the way, Christopher Nolan looks to be attached to direct the third one according to Production Mag, an insider/business magazine in Hollywood that gets its news straight from the studios. Also, Smallville is due to be replaced by a show called The Graysons. Yes, those Graysons.

Jingus 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 That's the worst Batman mask I've ever seen. Wait, what the hell Batman mask are you talking about? Except for the teeny-tiny professional photographs on the DVD case of Bale in the suit, there's no Batman masks anywhere on the past two pages. Besides, that's not the worst Batman mask ever. THIS is the worst Batman mask ever: ...seriously, the goddamned Graysons? Why? Pre-Robin Dick Grayson is not even vaguely involved with anything in crime fighting. He was a trainee acrobat, living his happy life with his circus family. And he was like ten years old. The only way I can see them possibly making a series out of this is to rape the DC continuity in a manner which makes Smallville look like a kiss on the cheek in comparison. And seriously, how many devoted Robin fans are out there anyway? The character is so hated in some circles that Nolan's team has publicly stated they categorically refused to ever include him in their movies. No matter what, fanboys ain't gonna be happy with this. Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 Dick Grayson is actually one of my favorite comics characters. There are ways in which he's the center of the DC Universe, he's involved with so many teams, and he's liked and respected by pretty much everyone. And every girl wants to fuck him. But yeah, Robin done wrong, nobody wants to see that. he's a difficult character to handle.
Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 That's the worst Batman mask I've ever seen. Wait, what the hell Batman mask are you talking about? I was (jokingly) talking about all the Iron Man masks/DVD cases popping up in the thread. And I suppose the storyline for The Graysons will be the family driving around from town to town performing acrobatics (under AND over the Big Top!) and solving mysteries. Probably with a chimp. And an elephant. And a young man named Eddie Nygma will show up and make some stilted reference to riddles.

Uh, what? Robin is one of the best characters IN the DCU, Dick or Tim-wise. Even Jason's become a decent character. And everywhere I've seen online, most people seem to agree with me. The Graysons Tv Show is retarded though.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 You'd think they would have better options if they wanted to capitalize on the Batman popularity. It can be done right but I wouldn't trust the CW to pull it off.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 I'm actually surprised they didn't decide to do a series that goes deeper into Bruce's training as Batman. While the title is the Graysons...plural...I could somewhat see the parents quickly being cut to show Dick's early life pre Robin but post parent's death. However, I can also see this series lasting about as long as the "Birds of Prey" series did.
DMann2003 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2008 No no no no If CW wants to do a Batman related TV series, the choice is clear- "Gotham City"- a show about the various people who live and work in Gotham City, with mysterious reports of a 'bat-man' dispensing vigilante justice popping up in the background. Nightwing 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2008 No no no no If CW wants to do a Batman related TV series, the choice is clear- "Gotham City"- a show about the various people who live and work in Gotham City, with mysterious reports of a 'bat-man' dispensing vigilante justice popping up in the background. Change that to Gotham Central and you got a deal. Unfortunately, that show still does not. With a distinct lack of super-powered beings, you'd think they'd be jumping all over it. Hopefully they'll come to their senses and go for the more interesting choice instead of the better-known character.
Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2008 We're thinking about this all wrong... maybe it's not the past Graysons- it's the FUTURE Graysons- Dick, Barbara, and their kids.
Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2008 I have wanted a Gotham Central series for years. You can still have Batman in the series but always have him in the shadows. Robin and Nightwing could be seen from time to time as well. To me this series would be pure gold.

Molotov The Bear 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2008 We're thinking about this all wrong... maybe it's not the past Graysons- it's the FUTURE Graysons- Dick, Barbara, and their kids. It's not... Smallville's Souders & Peterson Fly With "The Graysons" The CW may have found their Smallville replacement, or at least a companion series if the show should go for another year. Variety has announced that Smallville executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders will soon be taking on another DC Comics legend - Robin - in a series called "The Graysons." Supernatural executive producer McG will also be involved. Not many details are known about the project at this time. Obviously this series will take place before Robin meets Batman, and before his acrobatic family is murdered. The series will feature young Dick Grayson, who for some reason is using the nickname "D.J.," as "he will face challenges involving first loves, young rivals and his family as he grows up." Stay tuned for more information when and if it becomes available.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2008 Using the name D.J. ...I get that they don't want to have to call him "Dick" a thousand times an episode...but it just kind of reinforces that this is a bad idea.
CBright7831 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 Christopher Nolan gave a very diplomatic answer when asked recently whether he could see himself NOT directing another Batman film. "Well ... let me think how to put this. There are two things to be said," Nolan told the Los Angeles Times. "One is the emphasis on story. What's the story? Is there a story that's going to keep me emotionally invested for the couple of years that it will take to make another one? That's the overriding question. On a more superficial level, I have to ask the question: How many good third movies in a franchise can people name? [Laughs.]" He continued, "At the same time, in taking on the second one, we had the challenge of trying to make a great second movie, and there haven't been too many of those either. It's all about the story really. If the story is there, everything is possible. I hope that was a suitably slippery answer." Nolan was also asked whether, given how The Dark Knight ended, if the plan was to bring The Joker back for the next installment. (That, obviously, would be difficult now in light of Heath Ledger's death.) "No, really and in truth, I only deal with one film at a time. I find myself sort of protesting this issue a lot. We've never attempted to save anything for a sequel or set up anything for a sequel. That seems improbable to some people because, particularly with Batman Begins, the film ended with a particular hook [with Jim Gordon showing Batman a Joker playing card announcing the arrival of a new villain in town]. But for me that was just about the excitement of people leaving the theater with the sense that now we have the character up and running." He added, "Then I got excited about seeing where that character would go. It was planned in advance, but it followed in that way. But we tried our hardest to really do everything in this movie that we would want to see the Joker do and to get that in the fabric of the story as much as possible. We wanted the Joker's final taunt to Batman to be that they are locked in an ongoing struggle because of Batman's rules. There's a paradox there. Batman won't kill. And the Joker is not interested in completely defeating Batman because he's fascinated by him and he enjoys sparring with him. It's trapped both of them. That was really the meaning of it. Of course what happened is Heath created the most extraordinary character that you would love to see 10 movies about. That's the bittersweet thing. It was incredible characterization. It is a bittersweet thing for all of us." http://movies.ign.com/articles/924/924096p1.html
MDH257 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2008 Dark Knight score disqualified from Oscar Consideration The score for the blockbuster Batman movie “The Dark Knight” has been disqualified from consideration for the Academy Awards, Variety reported. The score was deemed ineligible by an executive committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Variety said, because too many names were listed on the official musical cue sheet for the film; in addition to the score’s composers, Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard, the document also lists the music editor Alex Gibson, the music designer Mel Wesson and the composer Lorne Balfe. Cue sheets are also used by performing-rights societies to distribute royalties to composers and producers.

Looks like the academy was just "witch hunting" for a reason to not give it a nomination, IMO.
