Boon 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2007 I love how Brewers fans get defensive of a team that is being nationally praised and compared to last year's World Series runner-up, despite the fact that we're 1/4 of the way through the season.
devo 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2007 Yeesh. I'm glad I was at work and wasn't able to watch the game today. Pelfrey pretty clearly isn't ready to pitch at the major league level, and now the question becomes whether Randolph sticks with the guy or pulls someone off of the minor league scrap heap (maybe Brian Lawerence) to take his place. In any case, tomorrow's game could be really really good if the right Oliver Perez shows up. I don't get a lot of chances to watch baseball other than Mets games, so I'm glad I get to watch the Brewers in action and see just what the team's like. Guest Report post Posted May 13, 2007 Here's a story from my childhood, Banky. I sent Sparky Anderson a letter asking him for an autograph & he sent me his 1959 rookie card signed. What a nice guy! I sent Tim Hardaway a basketball card with a letter inside asking him to sign it. He sent it back from a PO Box with only the card inside, unsigned. Fag. I don't think anyone is getting defensive about them. They're doing well, and it's worth talking about.

devo 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2007 http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/news/press_rel...sp&c_id=nym Didn't have to wait long on that decision. Pelfrey's gone and in his place is outfield prospect Carlos Gomez, which is a pretty surprising callup not only since you'd think they'd just bring a different pitcher up but because Gomez only has 140 AB at the AAA level. Still, he wasn't doing bad at New Orleans by any means (.286/.363/.414) and it'll be cool to see him with the Mets even if he's just sitting in the dugout the whole time. Strike that. He's starting in right field today. Jeez.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2007 I'll not talk bad about the Os for a full month if they hand Beckett his first loss today (he has to take the loss, the Os cant beat somebody out of their bullpen). It aint gonna happen though, so my negativity can keep on goin.

KingPK 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2007 AL Rookie: Hideki Okajima I just hope nobody cracks a line drive right at him because with his delivery, he'll never know about it until it nails him in the temple.

Guest George's Box Report post Posted May 13, 2007 Marvin, stop making stupid little promises to yourself regarding the Orioles. It's like watching a kid at an aquatic center trying to see how long he can hold his breath underwater, as if anyone cares. Just talk about the Orioles, geez. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2007 Well hey now..Becketts on the hook for the loss as its 3-0 and hes out with skin irritation (BLISTER) on his middle finger of his pitching hand..at least he wont win his 8th start consecutively. 3-0 wont hold up though. LOL @ Wally the Green Monster and his mother at the ballgame..
devo 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2007 Great win for the Mets today. - Oliver Perez was amazing (8.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 6 K). - Wright stole three bases, a personal best. - Carlos Gomez had an impressive debut, getting two hits and two scoring two runs while playing a terrific right field. - Damion Easley seems to improve every time he puts on a Met uniform, playing a solid second base today and going 3 for 4 with 4 RBI and a home run. The Mets' big eighth inning in particular was a blast to watch, especially since it was capped off with Beltran's home run that struck the foul pole before it could fall out of play. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2007 Guthrie has really impressed me today, if he pitches like he has today consitently hes a nice fill in for Jaret Wright. Id like to see him go back out there in the 7th but Perlozzo will go to the bullpen..and odds are they'll blow it..because the pen has been over worked.. Mik 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2007 With another blister flareup I think it's safe to say that the trade advantage is firmly back in the hands of the Marlins. Beckett won't be the same the rest of the season. I've been this happen a million times.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2007 Why the FUCK did Perlozzo pull Guthrie? He got a pop-up to the CATCHER who dropped it and then for some reason, Guthrie gets pulled and the bullpen just IMPLODES again. Fucking stupid decision of stupid decisions. Guthrie was FINE, absolutely FINE. Wasn't tired, wasn't having problems with his control, wasn't getting hit hard and you pull him two outs away from a shut-out in the ninth. Stupid crap. DrainYou42 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2007 6 runs in the 9th, with two outs, I love this team, and hope that it's nothing serious with Beckett.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2007 Wandy Rodriguez pitched another really strong game today against the D-Backs. Hunter Pence got another couple hits after getting a homerun and two doubles last nite. Brad Lidge has lowered his ERA from 10.12 to 3.50 in the last 2 weeks. Finally the 'Stros are able tow in a game on a day when the Brewers lost to move to 7 games back. In other news, BK Kim is going to the Marlins in exchange for Jorge Julio. In fairness, how often does that move blow up like that? With the Orioles, quite a bit actually. The minute we saw Guthrie walk off the mound both me and my dad said the same thing, "This game is about to get horrible." Sure enough, they just couldn't come through. Damn mess. The greatest reliever in Marlins history, gone like that. For shame. Not one single successful appearance... and someone actually wanted him. Not like Kim is treasure, but whatever. I bet he can get 3 outs once every few outings.

devo 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2007 So, I tuned into the Indians game just in time to see Jack Cust hit a three-run walk-off homer, his sixth home run in 26 at-bats. My goodness. Also, the Reds bullpen lost them another game today. They're becoming really frustrating to watch.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 Disappointing loss for the Brewers today, but I guess every team needs to lose a series now and then. Hopefully they do better in Philly.
Bored 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 Cust for MVP! Now he isn't going to hit six homeruns every week but if he remains productive it will be interesting to see if they entertain the idea of moving Piazza back to catcher when he comes off the DL as Kendall is a black hole offensively.
