Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 This doesn't make sense. How does his wife and kid coughing up blood lead to his death? We don't know right now. It's possible they might not be linked. The possible circumstances of what happened are scary and I think we're going to have to accept that no matter what is discovered, it isn't going to be pretty and it might not make any sense right now or any time soon. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 If he were at home with them, perhaps it was a pathogen, or a result of chemical poisoning? Or maybe it's what we're all thinking could have happened but not want to say in full because it's a very bad thought.
Guest frostdude1 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 RIP Chris I knew something like this was gonna happen from the first second the McMahon death storyline began ... they were tempting fate !!! Lets see them get out of this hole now

Mecca 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 I have no words........truly my favorite wrestler of my lifetime, I just feel so numb right now about this.
Guest Report post Posted June 25, 2007 Sickening. I'm sort of numb to it since I haven't watched wrestling since Eddie died, but this shit is getting ridiculous. The business takes away more than it gives. It figures that this happens when McMahon was running a fake death angle. That's awful.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 I'll echo what Rudo said. Fuck the angle. It's a TV show angle. Sadly, real life played a hand. What really bothers me is that I'm already afraid of what they will do to him like they did with Eddie. I hate that I'm already thinking about that but after Eddie's death, I come to expect the worst. Oh, fuck this. USA just showed an ad...still promoting McMahon's funeral but made sure to edit Benoit out. Obviously, they could just go "Tonight, Raw pays tribute to Chris Benoit". converge241 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 just so sad.... i cant even begin to wrap my mind around what the circumstances were for him missing the show yesterday and what happened these 24-x hours in between a tragedy
cameron chaos 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 Since the start of this McMahon death angle two legends have died in consecutive weekends from all appearances, both due to unknown reasons. I'm a cynic by nature but I'd take that as a very bad omen. That an entire family has died with not one left to carry on is so incredibly sad. A distressed husband drops everything he's doing to go home to his family who are apparently vomiting blood and the next day they are all found dead. I am wondering if any calls were placed to the emergency services by any members of the family or Benoit or if in the panic and desperation their first thought was to call dad for help... This does seem to indicate some degree of foul play or a serious fast and fatal virus. The first things that came to mind for me in terms of agents that can cause that kind of violent reaction were mustard gas, ebola virus, malaria and anthrax. Hopefully if any people are found guilty of foul play they get life for robbing a family of their own. R.I.P. The Benoit family.

tigeraid 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 Christ, I feel sick to my stomach. He was my hero as a teen, at times the only reason I would bother watching WCW. When he showed up in WWE it was my main reason for watching WWE. Benoit winning the World Title was one of the happiest moments of my life. I just can't believe this shit. Celtic Jobber 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 I had last week's ECW on tape and I'm just now watching Chris's last match... this is so surreal. And tastelessly they played sad music and talked about Stephanie's emotional comments on her "dead father" right after Benoit's match was over... Of course WWE had no way of knowing what would happen less than a week later, but it's still morbid.

Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 If they didn't think about dropping the whole "Vince is dead" angle before, surely it will be dropped now. RIP Benoit family. This is all too wierd.
converge241 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 Vince McMahon broke the news to the wrestlers backstage about the death of Chris Benoit and his family. One wrestler who was present tells PWTorch that everyone was gathered for an urgent, impromptu gathering backstage. McMahon then explained the basics - that Chris Benoit and his wife and won were found dead. He didn't elaborate or provide any details, and may not have known any more himself. "I've never seen a locker room floored like that. Seventy percent of everyone was just floored like I've never seen before. Everyone is just sad. He was well-liked by everyone. No one ever had a bad word for him. He and Bobby Eaton, that's what people say about those two." He added: "He never complained about sh-- (in his personal life), but lately it always looked like something wasn't setting right with him inside, like something was eating at him." There are no police reports yet confirming the backstage info circulating that they all did of gunshot wounds.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 It's really hard to understand on any level what Chris Benoit was able to accomplish in his career. In a business that is more about the superficial, Benoit was able to be popular based on merit. Not hype, not look, not packaging or presentation, not what makes 99.999% of any wrestler who was ever a success, successful. By the end of his career, he got some of the biggest reactions out of any one in the building based on a body of work, and a recognition of effort. That is mind-boggling. We're talking about professional wrestling - Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Steve Austin... they got over on catchphrases and body gestures... hell, even Ric Flair and Bret Hart all had something else to put them over the top. Benoit didn't get over on promos. Or his appearance. Or some marketing scheme. There was no money put behind him. He just tried so hard that people ignored everything that made them like every other wrestler out there and cheered this guy who had none of it. Benoit earned every cheer he got. Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 I just found this out a few minutes ago.. Why isn't this reported on the damn mainstream news??? I'm very shocked at the moment. It's still quite breaking news and let's be honest, pro wrestling has burnt the mainstream many times. Including just two weeks ago. Many media outlets are probably waiting for more info for the story itself or to even believe it isn't just another WWE stunt.
cameron chaos 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 As tasteless as this may be to say now, while I am saddened by this news I am at the same time relieved that there is no one for the WWE to exploit or pin on Benoit's passing to as a means to push them. Unlike Eddie's passing, this will not see his family being used to promote anything or anyone in the WWE. Nancy Benoit and her children will not be paraded out like Vicki Guerrero or painfully interviewed like Melanie Pillman. Hopefully once a fitting tribute has been paid to the man they will not make light of this tragedy ever again except in a respectful manner and tone. I am not a huge wrestling fan like I used to be but if there is one person who exemplified professionalism in wrestling, it was Chris Benoit. Of course, this is unlikely and they'll find some way to spin things but I am hoping I am wrong and they'll actually finally do something sensible and re-evaluate their possible storyline avenues. Banter 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 WWE News RAW BROADCAST PLANS: Raw to air, but no live event taking place, as of last word By Wade Keller, Torch editor Jun 25, 2007, 18:45 Email This Article - Printer Friendly Page - Back to Main Listing -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As noted earlier, PWTorch has learned that a decision was made just a few minutes ago to cancel the live show tonight in Corpus Christi, Tex. Fans will be sent home. Wrestlers are being allowed to leave and mourn. UPDATE: As of last word, the plan being discussed was to have the announcers introduce the show and go to best-of clips of Chris Benoit matches as a tribute to him. It didn't look as if wrestlers were going to be asked to provide any tribute comments at this early stage as most were too broken up to even consider wrestling or expressing memories for the camera. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 I don't think Cam thought it through. I'm sure he meant he'd rather there be a family to be exploited than a family to be buried, but that in this case there is no dead horse to be beaten and this won't be put into an angle or prolonged for entertainment value.
