mfn 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Either way, this fucking sucks. They should find some way to let Cena wrestle. It just looks really bad when title after title after title has to be forfeited. Especially on a reign as long as Cena's. Didn't RVD's TV title reign end because he broke his ankle in a match with Rhino?? I don't see how this could damage Cena. Cena will come back even better because no one beat him, he's still an undefeated champion for what... 12+ months?
RepoMan 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 I have a feeling they're just going put the Title on trips and give him a redicolous amount of screen time to fill Cena's void. He by far the most over healthy wrestler they got.

Not that I'm saying the same thing will happen to the WWE title, but I just hate forfeiting titles. Hell, have Orton (and possibly more heels) jump Cena backstage, give him the punt a few times, and then have Orton beat Cena quickly for the title in the ring. Then, if needed, have some other face come out and face Orton. Even if it's a quick shitty match, I'd still rather the title be lost in a match, not in an interview. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 So if HHH goes down and Orton fails another drug test, does that mean RAW will just be an hour of the word "PANIC!" flashing on the screen?

Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 I fully agree that the title should be given to Jeff Hardy. Have Orton do the whole "raise my hand, give me the belt" bit, but Hardy interrupts. Lays claim to being the #1 contender by virtue of being Intercontinental Champion, and that he doesn't want someone like Orton representing RAW. Keep the Last Man Standing stip (because Jeff is at his best in car crash matches) and let them go balls out, with a bloody Jeff eeking out the victory. Kennedy can be kept in the background as a challenger, using the whole "I put Cena and Lashley out" gimmick, plus Orton would have a rematch built in by saying that he wasn't prepared for Jeff Hardy. Business wise, it makes sense as well. Jeff's as over as ever, and he draws in pretty much the same demographic that Cena does.
haVoc 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 I doubt they have enough faith in Jeff Hardy but I wouldn't mind that at all. Something new to shake things up and they can keep Orton on the chase since he's been really good in his role in the last month or two. I also wouldn't be against Jericho even if he does look like Jon Bon Jovi.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 When does Lashley expect to return? I heard beginning of 2008 somewhere, but I could be wrong. I knew something was up last night. At first I figured he'd dislocated the shoulder but you could tell after a while it was something muscle related. Chioda was on the earpiece a lot which was just the icing on the cake that something was up. I doubt the table spot did him any favours. Much as I was looking forward to Cena dropping the belt and am not a big fan, having him out for 6-8 months is just a catastrophic blow. Seems like with the way they're acknowledging the injury so quickly and so openly, they're maybe going to keep him on screen. There must be some way of doing the Austin route with him. Having him out of the ring for 6-8 months... well, I guess plenty would call that a blessing, but off screen for 6-8 months would be a major blow for ratings and for merchandise. And if it was from the hiptoss, I'm not 100% surprised. Cena's hiptoss is one of the ugliest moves in wrestling on a good day.

haVoc 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Here's the match from last night if anyone missed it. The Kennedy promo before the match is kind of funny now. Looking at it again, I take some blame off Kennedy. Cena landed awkward as usual.
fazzle 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Someone might wanna fix that subtopic: Diagnosed with complete right pectoral muscle I think it'd be more worrisome if he DIDN'T have a complete right pectoral muscle Edit: That was fast.
garfieldsnose 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Yeah, it didn't seem to be at any fault to Kennedy. I like JR's comment as the match started, "Cena can't afford to be injured." It also seems like Cena is asking the ref if Randy is coming after the match. Maybe he was bracing himself.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Man, I'm so bummed about this. I hated Cena as the WWE Champion because his character is just so God damn boring, but I didn't want him to get injured in the process. For the longest time, I wanted Cena to get his ass kicked and Orton was the right guy to do it. I was hoping No Mercy would have been the title change, but I think they were just going to a draw finish and stretch it out again for Cyber Sunday. They should have had Cena lose at Unforgiven, but noooooooo WWE wanted to drag the feud. Its a damn shame it took an injury to take Cena out and he won't even be able to be a part of Wrestlemania now. I have to give Cena credit though, other than that nasty fall he took at the 2004 Royal Rumble and the busted hand A-Train gave leading to WM XX, I can't remember any time Cena suffered a serious injury since he made his debut so I'm surprised he went this long before going down hurt. You always notice these injuries just coincidentally happen right before the PPV (Batista, Henry, Undertaker, Edge) ? And this is now the second time this year a Hell in a Cell match has been planned but not occured When was the first?
Perfection 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 one thing is for sure, orton just got another big name he can brag about putting out of action. At least the timing of the injury occurred in conjunction with orton whooping his ass so he can brag about it.

Human Fly 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Interesting to see where they go here: - First of all I fully expect to see HHH walk out with the belt. - A good spot here to pull the trigger on one final Ric Flair title reign if they are going to do it. - Count me in for someone else who would like to see a Jeff Hardy title reign. He is over enough to warrant. - A Jericho return and title win would produce an absolute nuclear pop. Here is hoping that they take advantage and try and do something different. I would rather Orton win the belt than HHH. PPV buyrates are usually pretty crappy between now and the Rumble right? (except for Survivor Series) A good chance to see what sticks when it is thrown against the wall.

Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 I am curious if Kennedy-Hunter is still the plan for WM. Given Kennedy's recent actions and the cold responses, I can't see them sticking with that plan. Orton-HHH has been planned since XX but it has obviously never come to fruition. Right now, in the current climate of Raw, that just might be the best and perhaps only real option. Orton taking the title on Sunday and carrying it to WM for HHH to reclaim seems like the WWE thing to do.

Perhaps they'll put the belt on Edge... Edge is still out until December and I think given the uncertainty of Raw right now, the planned Edge-UT program for WM is pretty important. Of course, Undertaker will blow his knee out at the Rumble leaving SD with Edge agianst Mysterio and then each will injure each other in a pose-down the week before WM.
