WWE 24/7 Discussion Thread - November 2007

Recommended Posts

Hotbeds Philly features:

1. Stretcher Match: Killer Khan vs. Andre the Giant (11/14/1981)

2. ECW Tag Team Titles: The Pitbulls vs. Raven/Stevie Richards (10/7/1995)

3. High Incident: Brian Lee vs. Tommy Dreamer (10/26/1996)

Highly disappointing concerning they have over 30 years of Philly footage to choose from.

Not a bad lineup overall for the 2nd half of Nov. I sold a lot of my dvds so even the mainstream matches are welcome by me. Funny how JR pimps the hell out of the Briscoes/Funks and it's accompanied by a 5-minute match ending w/ an over the top rope DQ.

Not their best month but I'll take it over 6 1-minute diva videos and 3 random matches.

Yeah, it had to be him. IIRC, he only had one segment that involved foot kissing as DiBiase varied up the humiliation from week to week.

Actually, I thought Rob Van Dam was the kid DiBiase got to dribble the basketball and then in completely awesome heel fashion... he knocked the ball out in mid-dribble.

Kind of disappointed in the most recent WCW show... no Ric Flair at all. Usually he can save a lackluster episode with a couple of interviews alone.

Cornette on the mic, though, was good as they keep building to the match where the Midnight Express won the tag-team titles from Gibson and Morton.

Nah, that kid was blacker than Virgil.

Your Prime Time Lineup, including spoilers.

Randy Savage defeated Brady Boon

"The Natural" Butch Reed pinned Hillbilly Jim

Leilani Kai & Judy Martin defeated the Jumping Bomb Angels

Hercules and Billy Jack Haynes fought to a time-limit draw

The Hart Foundation defeated the British Bulldogs

The Savage/Boone and Jumping Bomb Angels matches appear to be from the Lake Placid show of July 16. The Hart Foundation and Butch Reed matches are from the MSG show. The Hercules match is also from MSG, but is from the June 14 show.

Crockett taped the TBS show on Tuesdays. Wish I knew if Flair had any previous commitments, cause if he was on TV in say..Florida, I doubt they'd air the same guy being on two different programs at once. I ran a search, but couldn't find anything. His schedule was hell, so he probably had a day off.

I didn't mind the show. I had never seen any of the matches featured and it was funny hearing Stevie Richards with a voice! I guess they went with the hardcore theme and 3 matches are always better than 1 in my eyes.

Ten bucks says next month though they do hot-beds middle east and it's a bunch of tribute to the troops bad matches.....

That's what I figured... either he had a day off or was doing a show somewhere that conflicted with the TV taping. I do remember Jim Cornette saying, though, that Flair would end up doing two shows a day depending on the schedule. He'd wrestle a show for Florida in the afternoon, for example, and then fly a private jet up to the Mid-Atlantic region and do a show there that evening.

welp, I am going to watch the 1/11/86 WCW on TBS show first(of course I always watch those 1st!)...Then I will watch Survivor Series 95 and then the SNME..

I keep hoping and hoping they will show more WCW PPVs and Events, but it just dont happen...

They continue to show all these MSG, Boston, Philly shows of old WWE, but how about some WCW from

that timeframe???? PLEASE..

Instead of WWE OLD SCHOOL, HOW ABOUT WCW OLD SCHOOL??

WWE has been and always will be biased to their product, but real wrestling fans know WCW was WAY freakin better than WWF in the old days..

Well unless WCW taped their house shows for braodcast on MSG, NESM, PRISM, or whatever the LA station is called, don't hold your breath for that. You just seem so angry at this channel sometimes...

Dont get me wrong, I enjoy 24/7, Cause I am a wrestling fan. Its just I was always a bigger WCW fan in the 80's and 90's.

Heck, Im just glad I my cable company finally fixed the issues with loading the content! Heck getting WWE/WWF Programming is better than getting nothing!

I just want them to show more WCW. Im not asking for Houseshows!!! How about showing all the Clashes!, Show More WCW PPVs from the 80s, and then start showing World Wide Wrestling(80s) OR NWA Pro Wrestling(80s) or WCW Sat Night from the 90s OR WCW Pro 1996 !! There is PLENTY in the vaults to show, its just its a WWE channel, so they show more WWE stuff...How about showing THUNDER(1998-2001)???

Right now, we get 3 Nitros per month, 3 WCW on TBS per month, and maybe 1 PPV of WCW per month.. I just wish it was MORE...

Come on Vince FREE WCW!! LOL Of course he will not, cause he wants you watching WWE/WWF programming..Even on 24/7!

Oh BTW, I dont watch current WWE stuff, its trash.. However I am a HUGE TNA fan, for which in a way, its really WCW reborn!!! Thank GOD! It gives REAL wrestling fans who like to watch Real wrestling matches HOPE!

Actually, the WCW PPV's usually win the "Pick Your Big One" contest each month. I believe we're getting Starrcade 87 for this month.

I agree with you about the Clashes, though. I'd like to see them, but I doubt we'll see a series of the other WCW programming, especially since the only WWE television show we get other than Raw is Primetime and not something like Superstars of Wrestling.

Exactly my point, The WCW PPV usually wins the voting. that should tell Vince something right there!!!

How many WCW/NWA PPVs were there in the 1980s though? Starrcade 87 has been shown before, I got GAB 88 off 24/7 this year, Halloween Havoc 89 as well. Maybe show some goodies like GAB 89, and the various Flair/Steamboat PPVs.

I'd like some early 90s WCW PPVs. And some Clash shows as well.

I was shocked GAB '89 wasn't an option to choose from in the "Pick Your Big One" this past July.

Also, if I remember correctly, Chi-Town Rumble and Wrestlewar '89 weren't really that good without the Flair/Steamboat match on each card.

The thing that would be great to add would be a series on Smoky Mountain Wrestling since they own that catalog. I know it wouldn't be right to do it with Jim Cornette out of the company, but it would be a nice addition to the TV Classics page.

OVW would be nice too. They show the logo on the Territories map but I'm unsure if a single thing - even in those pre-program videos - has been shown.

Here's a question: Who owns the DSW library? I would assume WWE, but it currently airs on The Fight Network here in Canada (and it's not very good) and I thought WWE had some grudge with TFN for reasons I don't remember.

I am hoping that when TNT ends they start something new and don't just restart TNT. There are tons of things I would take that they could show in order from the start: Smokey Mountain, Smackdown, SNME, the early unopposed Raws, OVW, Stampede...hell, I'd even take Thunder.

I say the he early live Shotgun Saturday Night episodes would be a lot of fun and they might tie in a bit with the present MNW. Then again, they'd run out after a few episodes and then it'd be the generic squash show taped before RAW. And I can only take The Headbangers Vs The Oddities so many more times

The early Raws are part of 24/7 Online's line-up so I don't see them doing that. I want to see some Superstars!

My guess, if anything, they'll show Challenge since they won't have to worry about blurring the banners.

You guys didn't catch Sir Mo totally no-selling the UNDERTAKER's chokeslam just after Mabel gets counted out?

Bertha Faye also totally no-sells Alundra Blayze's German suplex after the 3-count, watch both of these.

Savio Vega gets hit by a perfect Lawler piledriver. And pops right up totally no-selling it to make the hot tag to Taker. Hilarious.

And yes, by "no-sell" I mean 100% popped to their feet and no-sold it. Watch these moments.

I think the psychology of the german suplex isn't so much that it hurts Faye. It's that it throws her weight onto her shoulders in a pinning predicament, so she's trapped to the mat under the weight of her own enormous body.

Survivor Series '87 won the PYBO poll, not Starrcade. And Thunder? God, that show was awful the first time. Do we really need to relive it? I'm already sick of the Monday Night Wars.

But the War is at it's best part! When the Fed becomes better!

I'm watching the MSG show right now, my first thought (with the bonus video from Superstars of Koko singing his theme song) was "shouldn't they have to dub him in singing Piledriver?", but then bam, he comes out to the theme on the actual show. Good stuff.

Speaking of dubbing, anyone want to venture a guess at why they replaced Austin's Disturbed theme with the original during the Rock-Austin match from X-7?

I can tolerate Savio's no sell of Lawler since Lawler had no credibility in the WWF anyway and Savio mostly just bounced up and made a last gasp tag to UT. The Bertha Faye one was more egregious, since she just got up and walked away like "fuck it." Who the hell booked Kong to win that right after The Kid won the opener? Two straight heel sole survivors?

Watching that again, Bulldog's performance in the Wild Card match was subtle heel hilarity. For the most part he gets along with HBK and Ahmed, but did all sorts of run ins and then tried to stop Ahmed from pinning Yoko later. That's a fun match.

During one of those pin breakups I think he outright fucked up.
