Guest RyechnaiaSobaka Report post Posted November 28, 2007 I liked the one time, I think it was on SNME, when Bret Hart quoted Phil Collins. Hercules also botched a promo that was like 20 seconds long during a Royal Rumble where he swore he was going to win the rumble royal, grrrrrr! All Kerry Von Erich promos are pretty good for this because he's so stupid that you can see it on his face.
majormayhem1 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2007 As much as I love Greg Valentine, he had to be the worst promo in wrestling from 1989 and on, rambling and bumbling, pumping his fists, with a fiery look in his eyes and tidlewave bangs. He seemed more relaxed and confident during his I-C and tag title runs. All in all, I think he should have been more like "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton or "Mean" Mike Enos, and stayed silent while the manager talked. "British Bulldog" was pretty bad, too. He seemed to get ahead of himself, eventually finishing the promo five times. But, it was always entertaining watching their interviews. Worst promo ever: Brutus Beefcake, WrestleMania I. Oh god, Davey Boy was horrible too. Another terrible Royal Rumble promo. "The hallowed halls of the Royal Albert Hall," good job dude - ever heard of not using the same word twice in a sentence? Valentine was pretty bad too, unfortunately. He would have been good at a Jake Roberts type promo if he was just real quiet because he had such a deep voice. I remember some Kayfabememories.com shoot interview or something like that where I guess he was commenting on his WMIV match against Savage and said that if Savage complained to him about being stiff he'd "stretch 'em" or something. Good times.
Diamonddust 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2007 Oh come on... we're forgetting the most obvious one: The Ultimate Warrior The absolute perfect example of a promo that made no sense whatsoever, although they were entertaining in a sense.

Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 Shane Douglas had some pretty bad promos during his late 90's/early 2000's WCW stint. The most famous being his first promo where he formed the Revolution stable and proceeded to say the word "revolution" about 87 times. Another classic one was when he repeatedly said "That's a fact!" to some wrestler.
The Buzz 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 I think Warrior's promos were good for the character he played. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but he was just this crazy spiritual type of character, so his promos had that...wacky out of his mind vibe. For bad promos look up a Jay Lethal or Shelton Benjamin promo, I guess it's not their fault what kind of voice they were born with.
Guest Smues Report post Posted November 29, 2007 Jack Roberts' pre-match drunken rambling promo at Heroes of Wrestling is the first thing that comes to mind. DangerousDamon 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 Roderick Strong and the NRC cut some hilariously bad promos. They remind me of frat boys who decided to become wrestlers. I remember during the Steel Cage Warfare promos, Roddy was all pissed because Jimmy Rave Pedigree'd his girlfriend in a parking lot. Roddy says something like, "Jimmy Rave! I'm gonna punch your face until it breaks!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g72Ph0z49o4 Here's Roddy's promo from one of the ROH England shows.
Papacita 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 Owen Hart tended to repeat himself a lot in his promos, so much so that it became an inside joke with me and my friends. Probably the best example I can think of is the night after SummerSlam 97 when he must have told Austin about 38 times that "I left you a crippled freak, and you'll never wrestle again." Somewhat understandable now after realizing the severity of the situation, but that one in particular always got a laugh out of me.

I can't find it on Youtube, but man was it bad. Sure it's 'so bad it's good' bad, but it's bad. So awesome. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 I remember that match up on Wrestlecrap. My favourite part was when he came out to the ring, stood in front of a couple female fans, put the snake between his legs and starting making jerk-off motions with it. Toxxic 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 Chris Nowinski to Devon at some WWE PPV when Rodney Mack and Teddy Long had for some reason teamed up with Nowinski. Corners Devon backstage when he's gone to get wrist tape for him and Bubba, and starts saying "just because we have different skin colour... just because we have different skin colour..." and completely forgets his lines, repeats himself, stumbles, and has to be rescued by Mack. WELL I GOT 2 OF THOSE TOO! D....D.....T......D...D...T......DDTDDTDDT! Good, bad, thats just a classic promo. A friend of mine has a video promo of Warrior ranting about an upcoming match with Hercules. My favorite line is Warrior talking about the two of them walking into the "Forest of Destiny", and how one of them will carry the "Axe of Judgement" to cut down the "Trees of Wisdom". It's great stuff.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 Hogan. Slamming Andre. The entire crowd would have to jump on his back as he carries them out when the arena collapses, including Donald Trump having to ride his back. That was the most bizzare thing I had seen at the time. I was a child and knew that made no sense.
vermilion 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 Even as a kid, watching the Ultimate Warrior just made me go That's pretty bad b/c I liked Hogan and he's not one to make much sense either. As a personal worst promo, I'd have to put Austin in there. Not overall, but Austin's "What?" promos. The crowd loves them so they aren't bad persay, but god are they annoying. The worst part is people still do it. Seriously, I saw Shelton Benjamin this past week on ECW (shitty promo as well) talking and people are saying "what?". It's 2007, almost 2008, move on people. Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2007 I think the saddest thing about the Jake promo, is that he was always one of the best promo guys there was. still very funny, and that announcer looked rather perturbed to say the least. as for my example, I'll go with Lalya's recent promo on kelly on last weeks ecw
Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2007 Hercules also botched a promo that was like 20 seconds long during a Royal Rumble where he swore he was going to win the rumble royal, grrrrrr! I thought that was a good promo before he said "I'm gonna win that Rumble Royal today..." However, that's just a minor messup. It's one of the better Herc promos I've ever seen. Hogan. Slamming Andre. The entire crowd would have to jump on his back as he carries them out when the arena collapses, including Donald Trump having to ride his back. That was the most bizzare thing I had seen at the time. I was a child and knew that made no sense. YES! When people ask me what the worst promo they've ever heard was I immediately point to this one. It's great for comedy value but it does NOTHING to sell the people on the match. It's absolutley absurd and ridiculous. To be honest, Hogan's WCW promos, especially in the mid 1990s in the NWO era, are horrible. On one Nitro tape I have he's talking about wrestling the Ultimate Warrior at Halloween Havoc and talking about wrestling "Gorgeous George in heaven, brother!" and in another promo he complains that there is too much "goo goo and ga ga" going around WCW. Like wtf?!?!

luke-o 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2007 I can't remember the context of the promo, but it was Monty Brown talking to a Bob the Builder doll as if it was Christian. In fact, most of Monty's promos sucked.
tbondrage99 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2007 I'll never forgive Austin for his stupid "What?" promos that still unfortunately haunt us to this day. Bobby Lashley is just plain awful, he might have the least intimating promo in history. I can only hope that he gets better with time. I remember that Chris Benoit was pretty bad once even though he did get better with time. Hopefully Lashley can do the same. Of course though, the measuring stick for awful promos is, and I can't believe no one has mentioned her yet, Linda McMahon
