majormayhem1 Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 I heard Chinese Democracy was due out this year I really hope "this is the year." But, I won't hold my breath.
Black Lushus Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 aren't all of the songs all over the internet by now anyway?
majormayhem1 Posted January 16, 2008 Author Report Posted January 16, 2008 aren't all of the songs all over the internet by now anyway? Various demo's have been leaked.
Cheech Tremendous Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 I recently read Chuck Klosterman's Fargo Rock City. It reportedly took him some degree of time to complete, and in it he has a running joke that his book will be released before Chinese Democracy comes out. This book came out over seven years ago... Chinese Democracy will never be released.
Youth N Asia Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 ...I don't even have it in me to talk about this alleged album anymore
snuffbox Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 I've no longer defend or anticipate this.
Copper Feel Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 I've no longer defend or anticipate this. *elephant noise* Better question: if Chinese Democracy ever does come out, how many of you will purchase it?
majormayhem1 Posted January 16, 2008 Author Report Posted January 16, 2008 Yeah but, didn't you know Axl's "Back in the Saddle."

If it ever did come out, I'd buy it the first day, partly for the novelty of the whole thing, but mostly because the songs are really good.
Youth N Asia Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 I can't even imagine how much money has been sunk into the black hole. Wonder how much money it will lose when/if it does come out
CanadianChris Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 There will be actual democracy in China before Chinese Democracy comes out.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 Axl Rose will die before this album is released.
UZI Suicide Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 The new rumor is that the album is done and in the hands of Geffen Records (the band announced recording was completed last year), but hasn't been released because Axl and the label can't agree on how to market it. I imagine the discussion probably went like this: Axl: "I need $3 million for the first music video" Record label: "Fuck off"
majormayhem1 Posted January 17, 2008 Author Report Posted January 17, 2008 Freedom through musical integrity.
King Kamala Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 I can't even imagine how much money has been sunk into the black hole. Wonder how much money it will lose when/if it does come out Rumor has it, $13 million.
majormayhem1 Posted January 17, 2008 Author Report Posted January 17, 2008 Last I heard, it was over 15 million and Axl was paying for it.
Ravenbomb Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Axl Rose will die before this album is released. Orson Welles has been dead for years and he'll have at least one new-ish movie out before this album is released.
majormayhem1 Posted January 18, 2008 Author Report Posted January 18, 2008 It would be best for his career if the album was released post-humously.
cd213 Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Axl does some tracks on the Sebastian Bach album, and those songs are so much better then the crap that has been leaked off of CD. I downloaded it over a year ago and it had maybe 2-3 listenable tracks. This album will never come out. Even if it does, it has to be the BEST ALBUM EVER with all the hype that has been building. If it is average, it will bomb.

If it is average, it will bomb. You have to remember that the leaks are just that. They're not finished product. The songs from "Angel Down" give me hope that the finished "Chinese Democracy" will be the BEST ALBUM EVER! You think they'd waste this much time and money if they weren't going to release it?
BUTT Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 The leaks sure sound like finished product considering the loads and loads of post-production done on them. I don't know why anyone would think the Sebastian Bach songs are better than the new GNR songs. Axl's new stuff at least has an interesting sound to it. Bach's stuff is just generic 80s-sounding ass-rock, Skid Row without any catchy hooks.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 I was actually a big fan of the leaked songs i heard. The Blues, Catcher in the Rye, Chinese Democracy, There Was a Time and Better all worked for me. It didn't sound like "Guns N Roses" but I thought it sounded like what a guys music 20 years removed from Appetite should sound like.

It didn't sound like "Guns N Roses" but I thought it sounded like what a guys music 20 years removed from Appetite should sound like. I saw them in concert in 2006 and they played at least half a dozen new songs. The material was very good, in my opinion. That's what's so perplexing about the continued delays of the album. There is obviously enough material at this point that they could piece together an album and Axl has to at least somewhat confident in the quality of the material if he toured behind it.
King Kamala Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 I think the record company is wondering how to market its release because there's little to no chance of the thing being profitable. . I mean this is a record that supposidely cost $15 million and hardly anybody buys CDs anymore.
Gary Floyd Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 Wasn't Shaq supposed to be involved in this somehow?
Use Your Illusion Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 Axl hasn't sunk millions (much of it his own money) and bled into this project to never release it. He will. Read Slash's book, it makes things a little easier to come to terms with in regards to understanding why the hell Axl is doing as much fucking around as he has with this album. It is coming out, God knows when though. Like it has been posted here though, rumour is that the album is with the label, but Axl and the execs cannot agree on what to actually do with the thing. My advice would be to fucking release it. UYI
Guest Cock Ring Warehouse Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 How much tinkering can even be done with it, really? It's just Guns n Roses. The leaks I heard just sounded like Bon Jovi, anyway.
