Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 No, I believe those teams have a REAL shot as well. I think the Hornets, Suns, Nuggets, and Mavs have as good a shot as the Spurs and Lakers. The Rockets, Jazz, and Warriors are the 2nd tier.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 I really can't grasp the people handing the Lakers a better chance at the finals over the suns right now. I just don't get it. I guess I never will. If the Suns hadn't have traded Marion, i don't think the Lakers could have beaten them in a series. With the Shaq trade, I still don't think they could beat the Suns. I will believe it when I see it. But, oh yeah. HELL THE FUCK YES FOR THE BIBBY TRADE. I don't give a SHIT if Bibby doesn't even play. They got rid of Tyronne Lue. Doesnt fix all the hawks problems(woodson is still a moron and Joe Johnson is still a bitch), but it gives Acie Law more consistant minutes, and gives us a shooter at the point. Doesnt fix all the hawks problems(woodson is still a moron and Joe Johnson is still a bitch), but it gives Acie Law more consistant minutes, and gives us a shooter at the point. How does it give Acie Law more consistent minutes? Wouldn't this essentially cause him to get no minutes? If he had trouble getting the game with Tyronn Lue around, how would the acquisition of a good point guard make things any better?
Ripper 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 Because Woodson started Anthony Johnson, then brought Tyronne Lue off the bench for him and occasionally Acie would get in the game after him (despite out playing them both in my eyes). Now, both those guys are gone, so he is by default the backup point guard and not sharing time with Lue. Especially since Mike Woodson would apparently cut off his own penis before he gave Salim Stoudmire minutes. So we now have a two point guard rotation instead of 3. Golgo 13 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 I'm gonna play some homer here. The Iverson/Melo concern is such a tired one by now. It's certainly true that they're the only two big scorers on the team, though because of the various inconsistencies and inconsistent minutes of Kleiza and Smith, waiting for Martin to come back into form... which he nearly has, and the only concern now is to see if he can hold up... and the injuries to Nene, along with Camby's only offensive game being his spot-up jumper since he has no post-up, have left the Nuggets with no real choice. Frankly, every time Camby spots up at the top of the key looking for his own shot, it only takes away from what he should be doing all the damn time, staying inside. I think the debate has been put to rest, honestly, and the criticism is only cited by those whose only consistent exposure to the Nuggets is through the media and their own year old plus concerns. Each of their PPG is down and Anthony himself has improved, since he's actually grabbing rebounds and looking to pass now. Granted, no one knows what'll happen come playoff time, but I think things will continue as they have been. What'll really sink the Nuggets is their horrid defense and having no true, defined third option/consistent perimeter scorer. It won't do anything about their defense, but I think Mike Miller is Denver's best bet out of all the trade rumors.
AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 So the Hawks just traded for Bibby? Great, I just waived Beno Udrih from my fantasy squad this morning...
Guest Report post Posted February 16, 2008 It's a really good trade for the Hawks. In a tight East, now they'll get into the playoffs. If things shake out well and chemistry is good, they could get out of the first round. Next year they'll be looking like a top 4 or 5 team in the East, provided that Josh Smith and Marvin Williams continue to form into top players.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 I really would like to see the Hawks make a move to the playoffs this year..theres enough talent there and with the East the way it is they could easily score an upset in the first round.

alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 To me, the major race for the title involves the Spurs, Suns, Lakers, Celtics, and Pistons. I really don't see any other team breaking through that group at this point, although I want to see the Suns play with Shaq to be sure about them. I think they're going to miss Marion sorely in the long run. Shaq's "defense presence " that the so-called experts keep harping on consists of commiting flagrant fouls on nearly every play and getting by with it from the refs. Aside from that, he hasn't been any good defensively for years. People see a high shot-blocking average and automatically think "good defender", but that's not always the case. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 OMG he blew the candle out and he only got a 46! WHAT?~!
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 (edited) I thought the fact that he didn't pop the cake off the rim was more impressive. That's not as good as Dwight Howard's dunk, though. Edited February 17, 2008 by alfdogg
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Shaq is pissed somewhere.. he should have gotten a deduction for not actually dunking the ball but he got a 50 again. even though it was awesome..

bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Did you see how HIGH he was? ordinarily i'da felt he had to be docked for not *quite* dunking it... but when you see how HIGH he was, he was literally throwing it DOWNWARDS. not to mention the actual CATCH (where was it thrown from?)... wow! naiwf 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Get the fuck outta here. Dwight Howard has just done three of the greatest dunks I've ever seen in succession.

bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 That dunk where he SPIKED the ball off the backboard IN MID AIR and caught it and dunked it... WOW!
naiwf 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Why is Dr. J even trying to make this thing seem like it was competitive? Dwight's "worst" dunk was still better than everything else with the possible exception of the "birthday cake". Dwight's first three are probably all close to top 5 of all time in the dunk contest.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Dr J was right though, that barefoot dunk was probably the hardest dunk of the night... but it's not the sort of thing an "un-informed" viewer can pick out as difficult. there was more hype for the 1st two, but Dwight's 3rd dunk was the most impressive imo, throwing the ball up, jumping up, in-mid-air spiking the ball off the backboard, and dunking it... that's impressive. Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Dwight Howard deserved to win, but I think the Superman dunk was overrated. He jumped from in front the free throw line and couldn't even get to the hoop. It wasn't that good. Green's birthday cake was underrated. To blow that shit out is tough. You gotta get your head up there.
Gert T 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 I think the "throw down" part fit well with the Superman theme. BTW, as mentioned earlier Barkley was gold. Kenny Smith "Magic go whisper in Dominique's ear that wasn't a 10." Barkley: "Magic go over and slap Karl Malone in the back of the head. Don't worry I got your back." bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 What was impressive about Dwight's first dunk was that his head was actually behind the backboard when he dunked it. he didn't pass under the backboard, his head was right up against the glass on the back side. very nice. Superman was kind of overrated, but it was a fun markout moment. the 3rd dunk was my favorite, he got it in mid-air and SPIKED it against the backboard and dunked it. that was ridiculously creative. The Electrifyer 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 That contest should Dwight Howard is truly a beast and Rudy Gay learnt nothing from Youtube. Edit: The two dunks that Dwight did were spoiled in his training video on the NBA.com dunk blog. He does the backboard spike dunk better at the 40 second mark: http://my.nba.com/thread.jspa?threadID=300023465

You gotta get your head up there. The reason Howard didn't reach the hoop is because his jump was a vertical jump. Jordan and Dr J. jumped off one leg. Howard planted both feet and then went up.
