So I wonder how Cuban is gonna feel representing the Mavericks at the Draft Lottery. Seriously, this team has had some bad luck over the last few seasons. Who can realisitcally pick up the slack without Dirk?

Posted

That championship window in Dallas shut pretty quickly. Unless they end up missing the playoffs and fluking their way to a high ping pong pick next year they look like they'll be just another of those teams that won a ton of regular season games over a 4 to 5 year span with nothing to show for it.

Dallas needs to just miss the playoffs and try to improve through the draft. Jason Kidd clearly isn't the answer. Dallas shouldn't have panicked when they saw everyone else in the West making huge trades.

New Jersey is awful too, but I think they have a better shot at making the playoffs than Dallas.

Philadelphia beat the Celtics tonight in Boston.

Iguodala worked the Boston for 10 straight points in the 4th during a Philly 19-0 run. Philly has won 10 of their last 12 games. They have wins over Phoenix, San Antonio, Denver, Boston, and Detroit during this current run.

They've got Chicago on Wednesday, so they'll be 11 of 13 on Friday when the face the Suns.

funny guy, that.

That was a disgraceful call to end an unbelievable basketball game. It's ridiculous that Delaney made that call when he's under the basket and can't even see the players being pulled down. The Warriors just got robbed.

Hey, the Mavs gotta stay in the playoff hunt somehow.

No kidding.

And where were the other refs on that one?

Well on NBA TV according to the replay it looked like there was one right next to the inbounder looking right at the play. Asinine that the baseline ref whose look at the play is partially obscured by the rest of the players makes that call.

I'm going to say no, but he'd be definitely be a footnote.

Yes he was a choker, constantly injured and did have a bad attitude at times. But on the flip side, he's probably up there statistically with other top PFs. If it was a really weak ballot I could see him possibly getting it.

His averages of 20.1/9.5/4.1 are pretty solid, but the career totals just don't match up to a HoFer in my mind. He's barely over 17,000 pts, and 8,000 rebounds with about 3,500 assists. He only made the all-NBA 1st team once, 2nd team 3 times and 3rd team once and was just a 5 time All-Star. If he'd been able to stay healthy and was closer to 20,000/10,000 then yes I think he would have made it without a doubt. If he gets in I think it'll be by the skin of his teeth and one of those guys that people always look to as the borderline HoFer you compare other borderline guys to.

Chris Webber should get in. Once again, I look to Bill Walton being in the HOF as a case of "if that fucker can get in."

And to think, Bill Walton used to always run Chris down when he was commentating his games...

I think 17-8 is close enough to the 20-10 number that almost should guarentee a big man a birth into the Hall. Especially when you consider those assist.

I still say he is probably one of the more underrated players of this era.

Webber should get in. I think it'll be close. He only played 70 or more games in 6 seasons. His career totals would be a lot better had he been a more durable player. I think with Webber you have to look at his career averages to get a sense of what kind of a quality player he was. With a 20 pts, 10 rebs, and 4 asts per game career average, that should be more than good enough for a power forward to get in.

Devin Harris.

OH WAIT HE'S GONE

How about Josh Howard, since ya know he was the 2nd best player behind Dirk on the team? Weak attempt to be funny.

Josh Howard's production is so high that he really can't step it up at a level to replace Dirk. They have no third scoring option, and it's going to kill them.

And I would let Chris Webber in the Hall, although he would certainly have to wait a few years.

Sixers continue to stay hot, winning big against the Bulls. Maybe I should add the Sixers flag to my sig. Or maybe I'm superstitious enough to believe if I don't, Sixers will win the championship. I'm going to the parade in June.

Assuming anyone is interested in HS basketball, the McDonald's All-America game is on ESPN right now. There's this one kid sporting a Kid-N-Play style boxcut.

On a somewhat related subject, David Stern apparently wants to raise the age limit again to 20, but this change wouldn't come until a few years down the road.
