For me, they did the Scream deal and had TWO masked men - Orton and Kennedy

Trailer is under My WWE -- Options -- for some weird reason. I like the idea of importing character models from one game to another.. I hope they let us do the vice versa as well with being able to import Legends into SvR.

He had a title match at No Way Out and I actually cost him the match (by DQ) by attacking either Kennedy or Orton - I think it was Kennedy, who was also the first guy after Shane I accused. Between NWO and Mania, Cena forms an alliance with you to fight in a tag match against the masked men.

Weird. I had a match against the masked man at NWO, and after I tried to rip off his mask, Shane sent Umaga and...Snitsky(? I think it was him) out after me to stop me from ripping it off. The Orton/Cena match at NWO was postponed until the next night on Raw, where Orton won the title. Shane WAS allied with the masked man in your story, right?

I saved at the point where I had to choose Orton or Kennedy, and did both paths. If you choose Orton, you do two matches with Masked Man, and in the second, you pull off his mask. Also, there's the Snitsky/Umaga run-in. Also, Orton wins the title from Cena on a Raw (where you are powerless to do anything, even though you're a manager), and it's one-on-one at WM. Cena hates you less in this path, by the way.

 

If you choose Kennedy, there are two masked men (Orton & Kennedy), and they reveal themselves on a Raw, and the title match is a Fatal Four-Way at WM, although Cena keeps his title up to that point.

Yeah nothing pops up, but its one of the "move the right analog stick around to make the submission hurt more" moves. If you have the upper body and head in red, and move the right analog around, it works. Works for me almost every time.

Ahh okay. Explains it. I just figured it was a "do nothing" submission move since nothing popped up, lol.

 

Also - you know what I really hate about the CAS mode? The call names. There should be an option to just turn off ring introductions for created wrestlers. Most of the time they just plain suck.. I'd rather hear entrance music and crowd noises for Eddy Guerrero over "Coming to the ring... Edward!!" =\

 

Oh, and since last night was my first experience with the CAS mode.. my copy seems to be fine with listing height in feet/inches. No CM here like others are reporting. Wierd!

So the general consensus is this game is better then the last few installments? I've held off buying it this year till I've read a few forums about it, since the last 2 were bugged to shit and generally disappointing.

In my honest opinion.. it's only been 4 and a half days that I've had this game and I've already logged more hours than on 2007 or 2008. I'm enjoying it that much. I don't think I've played a Smackdown game this much (or intended to play it much more) since HCTP or the first iteration of GM Mode - I can't remember what game that was in, heh.

I've enjoyed it much more than the installment two years ago. I did not get last year, well, because it sucked ass. I've been playing it from time to time since I just got COD5 and that game rocks. I've created my CAS but he's not done yet since I have to do his move set and entrance. The only thing that I'm dissapointed is the lack of option in CAM/CAF, I know it's the first year doing it, but that's the main reason I brought this game, so many finishers that I was thinking of doing cannot be done. example...

Other than that, the game is tight, RTWM is hot, although I would of like if they had a Ortan one and Edge, or MVP, you know, the heels. We're all human and sometimes we would like to see the badguys win.

 

I mean, this is the first real installment in a while and I give it a thumbs up, I think it deserves a 8.0 - 8.5 because of their creativity.

Hopefully next year we will see a bigger improvement.

One of the rumors going around for DLC are more storylines for the RTWM, so if that's true it's entirely possible that we'd get a heel storyline down the road. There is an internet audio show that recently interviewed one of the creative managers for THQ and he said that the DLC's are going to be in packs and that they're "big time" (or something to that effect). The first one is planned for the last week of November or the first week of December. Here's the show, he mentions DLC at around the 22m mark:

Honestly, CAF isn't that bad, yeah it could have been better, but for their first time doing it, it's pretty fucking good. In the next installment they should really focus on making it better though.

 

Maybe start off by making the player select where they would want to start the finisher in the ring. Like the selection menu would be like this...

Jumping off the turnbuckle (laying or standing opponent)

 

and then depending on your selection they give you a list of what you can do from that position.

 

One thing I'd really wish they change is that a player can do strong grapples from behind without turning your opponent around. If someone wants to turn their opponent around so that the player is facing their opponent then the player should just grapple that person than just hit LB or something.

CM Punk's story was a nice change of pace.

I've been conditioned to not being allowed to win title matches as they're just an exercise in futility until a run in occurs, but you actually win this time before Mania! And it sets awesome stuff up!

As for the metric stuff.. I'd be fine with it too as I'm pretty used to it from all of the import games like Firepro and KOC and whatnot. But not because I'm Canadian. We're supposed to be metric up here but I've never seen anyone use cm or kg over feet/inches or pounds.

 

Fun fact, according to Wikipedia - the 2006 US CIA World Factbook sez that the metric system is the primary or sole system of measurement for all nations except for Myanmar, Liberia and the United States.

It's hilarious to hear Taz bitch about CM Punk and how he's wrestling hardcore in the scripted portions of the storyline, but then during matches I'd be hitting guys with chairs and Taz'd be all "Yeah, that's the way to do it! Reminds me of the Old ECW days!" and so-on.

If you could make a CAW "Road To WrestleMania" story, what would your character's story be?

 

Mine? I'd call myself "Wrestling's" Chris Waters. I'd be normal for the most part...until I win the US Championship. Then, I come out on Raw, and claim that I'm a phoenix (not Beth) reborn...and replace the normal US title with the WCW version. Then I make the challenge to the World Heavyweight Champion to "liberate" the gold from the "tyranny" that it's been put under, and bring back WCW en mass. Choices would be who you try to convince to join "WCW"

Finally picked it up today. Really didn't have time to do anything besides enter all of the different codes to unlock various Wrestlers, arena's, etc. Played two short games, and the controls feel familiar, yet refined. Going to mess around with it a bit tonight and try out the create a superstar.
