King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2008 At the risk of sounding like a caveman, does anyone have the PS2 version? If so, is that worth a buy? I have HCTP and FPR2 and may be ready to pick this up. Also, how do some of the special matches play like Royal Rumble, HITC, Elimination Chamber, battle royals, ect? I have it for PS2. I love it. The only real special match I've played on 09 has been the Inferno match just to try it out. Otherwise Ive just been playing through Career/RtWM at the moment. The lack of Downloadable content is gonna suck, but its still worth it. Edit: Actually, HiTC is really fun this time around. Being able to toss people off the cell through the announce table is awesome. I've got it on PS2 as well and I'm impressed with the improvements on last year. A lot of them minor things, but after the past few years' lack of progression, it's all good. The only big complaint I've got so far is that Rumble matches are still utterly pointless. Would it be so hard to make it more testing to eliminate people, instead of people going out after just one grapple? As it is, the match is just too quick and too pointless to be enjoyable. As far as downloadable content, would it not be possible in theory for someone with a PS3 to save their game and put it up for download on a Max Drive or something similar, having saved their downloaded characters as a part of it, thus making it possible to have them on PS2? I'm not 'up' on how any of that really works.
This is Bo 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2008 I have a question, maybe it's been answered already before, I just dont want to go back and read everything. In Career mode with a CAS, after collecting the 6 traits that goes with your superstar, can you delete one and go for another trait? Example, if I want to get rid of 'dirty pins' and go for ladder or cage speacilist, can I do that? If so, how can I do it? The Rumble, once again is pointless, it's far toooooooo easy, the hell with the grapple this once your foe is holding on to the ropes. I think they should get beat up before getting eliminated and there should be a rumble specialist, meaning, it's hard to get eliminated, ie. holding on to the ropes for dear life. There should be moves that can help you eliminate your foe, ie. chothesline, hurricarana, suplex, powerbomb...they should make the rumble as realistic as you see on T.V. Another question... I'm looking for the skyhigh and the lowdown, are D-Lo's move set in the game?
Scroby 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2008 I doubt if the Lowdown is in the game, the skyhigh can probably be made or at least a crappy verison of the sky high. As far as getting rid of traits in favor of new ones, I don't think you can really do that. I think you get stuck with what you get the first time around. dubq 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2008 God bless the new economics of video games. I now have HMV and Koodo banners all over the game. Makes it real! Bizarre.. I haven't checked mine yet.. I just see "SmackPizza" a lot. Do they segment the real ads based on where the game is sold, or perhaps the PS3's region settings?

There should be more of a relationship between damage done and hoe easy it is to eliminate someone rather then the "if you have a red body part you can't hold the ropes on the way out" default. This is Bo 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2008 That's been my problem for the longest, even when they did the 6 man in the ring at the same time rumble, it still had the same feel. I mean, seriously, can Rey just wip big show over the top rope and then just push them out? That's no where near realistic. One thing that drives me crazy about this franchise is that they have yet to implement the weight issue. I mean, do honestly thing that CM Punk is going to do the GTS on Khali or Big show, or Mark Henry? seriously, that's just ludacris. I was trying to make the skyhigh in CAF, and there's nothing that can help me make a decent skyhigh, and of course, I cannot make a top rope finisher, so any chances of making D-Lo Brown is out of the question. Is there a code for me to enter so I can get all of the locked movelist? I think I'm missing two and I did all of the RTWM but one (Tag Team with Batista and Rey) but I'm doing that now and I just finished the RR (Which sucked btw). They did the weight class thing a few years back and it was brutal. You could not lift anyone above you weight class, and a small guy like Rey Rey couldn't even kick someone like the Big Show. I like the idea of the different weight classes meaning something, they just need to sit down and do it right.
This is Bo 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2008 I remember it being brutal, and it sucked, I agree with you, they need to do it right. Dammit, I'm tired of Rey Rey doing a tilt-a-whirl back breaker on the big show... IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN...EVER! I think people that use steroids has extra strenght to lift guys like the big show up, exp. CENA and Trips, but if they're too little like PUNK and REY, then it shouldnt be in. THQ wanted this game to be as close as realistic they could get, instead of adding shit, they should improve on others. I feel that sometimes you gotta take a few steps back in order to take a leap foward, and that's something they should do. Dont get me wrong, CAF is great, but it's the first year displaying it, therefore there's going to be some flaws, but the weight class shit has been naggin shit for a while now (To me) and they have not done anything about it. I mean, c'mon.
Toxxic 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2008 Yeah, the whole idea of Rey not being able to land pretty much any strike or running strike on Trevor Freakin' Murdoch was kinda stupid in my opinion. And it really REALLY skewed the game towards the 'big is better' mentality of the WWE in real life.

AntiLeaf33 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2008 I liked having the weight class option as it made me focus on having more practical moves as opposed to having an offense that consisted mostly of high impact moves that require me to pick the opponent up. DangerousDamon 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2008 The weight class system is still in the game, even though it isn't that great. If you have a little guy who is tired and you try to pick up a big guy, you won't lift them. However, if you take a breather and try again you'll succeed. Also the Sky High is in the game, it's one of Murdoch's Signature moves (Spinebuster 6 or something like that). No luck with the Low Down though. You'll have to use Eddie's Frog Splash or one of the lame diving body press that only goes in one direction.

Thanks for the heads up about the rumble. I'll probably just ask for it for Christmas. Being the huge Royal Rumble/battle royal mark I am, it sounds really disappointing . . . kind of like HCTP's rumble except that game was supposed to be sort of arcady. Definitely some good suggestions on how the rumble should be done. I mean I don't mind some quick eliminations here and there. For example, if you were charging your opponent w/ a clothesline near the ropes and he doesn't react, he goes over and may or may not hit the floor. If he counters, he ducks his shoulder, and you go flying over the top rope. That way, there'd be some timing involved. Maybe once a wrestler enters the ring, his moves will have double impact for 20 seconds or so to sell how fresh he is and how tired the field is. Blah, I don't know. Hopefully, they focus on it in an upcoming year.

I assume if you go online (at least in the 360 version) or maybe are just connected to Xbox Live while playing, the ads show up. They obviously are regional (Kodoo and Future Shop being Canadian stores). I also noticed now the "V" in my HVM ads is flipped over to be a Christmas tree AND I have Punisher ads! I like the Punisher banners.
dubq 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2008 I'm usually connected when playing, but it doesn't seem to change the ads on PS3. I haven't checked online matches yet though.. horrible lag, STILL. Everyone on that thing has a red bar.
This is Bo 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2008 Hopefully, D'Lo Brown will be in DLC Pack #2, so we can get some moves there. Oh Thoth, I wish, I only wish that his move set will be in the pack #2, or 3, or 4, I really dont give a damn when, just do it. I think the skyhigh is one of the most visually awesome move since...I'm going to say it... NO MERCY in N64. I've always been a D-Lo Brown fan and I want to make a CAS with his move set, running PB, Head shake leg drop, Sky high, Low Down, ect. But hey, that's just me. Oh, that other wannabe 'Sky high' sucks, that's a running counter with no movement. A sky high, to me, is always been considered a PB, not a spinebuster. This is Bo 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2008 That's why I dont play wrestling games, nor sports games on line. The lag is soooo terrible that I would never play it.
