Maztinho 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 See? I was totally thinking of drafting Dr. J. Stevie's too much on the same wavelength for my taste.
Wally Balls 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 How did it take you guys so long to pick Kobe? He's probably the best player of all time next to MJ. Why is there this notion that just because a player is "old" or played in a previous era, that they are automatically better than the players of today?
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 In my case, it was because a franchise centre is more valuable than a franchise shooting guard.

Why is there this notion that just because a player is "old" or played in a previous era, that they are automatically better than the players of today? Because we are trying to build a whole team, historically speaking that means start with a big and put pieces around him. Plus your statement is kinda off since LeBron and KG both got drafted before Kobe.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 I was hoping to get Dr. J but I didn't really expect him to be around by the time I chose. Hopefully atleast one of my next 2 picks sticks around though.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 Cause Kobe is a ball hog, although I was considering him with my next pick. I had four guys I was looking at with these four picks (including the Dr. J pick). Dr. J was one of them, so I'm getting a little worried.
Maztinho 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 Cause Kobe is a ball hog, although I was considering him with my next pick. This is true also Pong, we are factoring in whether or not our teams could actually play cohesively as an unit at the end of the draft.

As for the Kobe thing, it's all about team cohesiveness. Nah, I was a head of you, I needed a big, but I almost took J with that pick. He wouldn't have lasted until my next pick anyways, but the next round you my take someone I was thinking of.

Jorge Gorgeous 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 Shaq has always been paired with a smooth, scoring 2/3, first Penny, then Kobe, then D-Wade... now? The Iceman. SG/SF - George Gervin 26.2 ppg in the NBA 3-time ABA All-Star 9-time NBA All-Star 5-time NBA First Team 2-time NBA Second Team 2-time ABA Second Team 4 NBA Scoring Titles From 1977-1982 averaged 27.2,29.6,33.1,27.1 and 32.3 point, respectively. He's just so saucy.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 In my case why I didn't draft Kobe... Is because I wanted a franchise PF/C 1st, and I felt KG was the most talented PF that was left on the board... Plus I feel KG would have better chemistry with Isiah then he would with Kobe. Isiah also had the ability to take a game over, and was very clutch when it came down to the wire. I wanted a true point guard to mess with KG, not a ballhog shooting guard who is only out for himself.

The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 Kidd has a chance of killing your coach whenever he feels like it. And I hope people keep forgetting one of the greatest players of the game, as he would fit perfectly for the team I'm building.

Maztinho 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 Payton picked over Jason Kidd? Wow... Actually if I couldn't get Stockton I was going to take Payton in the second round. I value his defensive abilities and he has a solid 3 point shot over what Kidd brings to the table.

I value his defensive abilities and he has a solid 3 point shot over what Kidd brings to the table. So you would take Payton over Thomas as well? Thats a pretty bold statement... I guess people will remember what Thomas did as a GM and Coach moreso then what he accomplished as a player. There are a few other PG's I'd take over Payton as well. I'd problay take 6 or 7 PG's ahead of Payton.

I'm also factoring in the play style I see my team playing, and Payton would fit the mold better than most of the Points still left out there.
