Kinetic 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2008 Yeesh. Terrible game for the Spurs tonight. They obviously can't win the series without getting something from Ginobili, and I'm not sure that he's capable of stepping up right now.
The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2008 Man this is why I wanted the Hornets... at least they would have been a young team still being carried by their emotions... Spurs are old as hell and it's showing. Series is done in
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2008 It was showing against the Hornets, too, through the first six games.
Guest Report post Posted May 24, 2008 The Spurs get no offense from their role players...they have no bench. Horry and Finley need to retire. They're done in six at the most. The Lakers have them overmatched in the most critical areas. Speed, work ethic, overall talent. The Spurs have too many older players. The only guy that the Spurs are able to guard is Gasol. The rest are blowing by to the hole or spotting up and hitting jump shots.

The Spurs are not going to go quietly, despite getting beat in game 1 and hammered in game 2.
Guest Report post Posted May 24, 2008 I don't expect them to get blown out, but at the same time, I don't expect them to pick up their play by the margin they'll need to in order to win the series. I think they'll win Game 3 and lose Game 4.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2008 I personally think that the Spurs looked alot worse in their first two losses to New Orleans than they have in the first two losses to the Lakers. Until someone loses on the road, counting out anyone in this series is silly.
MFer 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2008 If the Celtics weren't playing a Flip Saunders coached team, then I'd say you're done after tonight's game... That, and the Pistons in general being a Jekyll & Hyde type team. I've never been one to assume things based on past events (i.e., if Boston can't win in Atlanta and Cleveland, surely they can't win in Detroit). Boston is good enough to win a road game, they just haven't done it. Of course I think Detroit will still win the series, but they could still screw it up ("Bad 'Sheed" could make a reappearance, Chauncey's hammy could flare up again, Rip could have one of those nights where he focuses more on drawing fouls than making shots, etc...). Looks like Mr. Hyde has reared his ugly head tonight...
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2008 The most entertaining part of the game was the spat between Jackson and Van Gundy. Meow.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2008 I didn't catch all the game b/c I was at a friends house getting ready for UFC. Was this the Celtics looking good or the Pistons looking very bad?
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2008 It's never just one or the other. The Pistons were missing tons of shots they would normally make, and that led to a lot of easy baskets at the other end. But credit Boston for taking it right to the Pistons from the start. Detroit looked like they were on their heels and passive for pretty much the entire game. Fun stat: Detroit's starting frontcourt did not make a single trip to the foul line in Game 3. bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2008 I love Billups but the man is seriously overrated as a Playoff Performer. He has sucked ass the last 3 ECF. One, you could blame on injury, not three. Stuckey, even in the loss, wildly out-played him again last night in less minutes. If Pistons get bounced by the Celts in 5 or 6, I would look into trading him and change for Allen Iverson or somebody, with Stuckey ready to jump in when Iverson gets too old. alfdogg 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2008 I've been thinking the same thing about Billups. He's a really good PG, obviously, but his success ratio in big moments is kind of low for a guy who's known as "Mr. Big Shot".
PUT THAT DICK IN MY MOUTH! 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2008 Being christened "Mr. Big Shot" was pretty much the worst thing to ever happen to Chauncey. Now it's like he thinks he has to be the guy making the plays down the stretch, even though the Pistons are at their absolute worst when one of them is trying to do too much and they're not sharing the ball. JohnnyBlaze 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2008 so glad the spurs are stopping the bs in this series...even marv on the tnt telecast seems happy that the spurs are about to even things up...hes pretty into it tonight.
Kinetic 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2008 So tonight's game went more or less according to script. San Antonio still has to win Game 4 to make a series of this.

It's only 2-1, and the Spurs need to bring this level to every game for the rest of the series if they want to win it.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2008 I dont think their losses have anything to do with lack of intensity. I think it was just their lack of consistant offense. Tonight they had it. You know, I never figured out why they never have seemed to just turn Brent Barry loose. I mean, i understand they have a tight system there, but if you let Brent play the way they let Ginobli play, they would be a much better team.
Guest Report post Posted May 26, 2008 I knew they were going to win this one. The offense failed the Lakers tonight...
KingPK 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2008 (edited) Nice to see the shitty officiating helping the Celtics for once. It's the only thing keeping them in the game right now. EDIT: And now the Celtics revert to Jumper Mode with a team in the penalty and referees calling everything in sight. Edited May 27, 2008 by KingPK
KingPK 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2008 (edited) This game may be worse than the two Cleveland games combined. A team that has any hope at all of winning a title would gladly accept Detroit's giving away of this game and run like hell. Whoever said it a few days ago (Ripper? Alf?) is dead on; this team just doesn't play well in close games at all. Edited May 27, 2008 by KingPK

Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2008 Jesus, ESPN just won't let it die about the Pistons passing on Carmelo Anthony. The Pistons have won a title since then, and they're at least in the running for another...Plus they do have that position filled solidly. I got over the Mello thing quickly
Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2008 You know, watching McDyess now reminds me of how we got robbed of some ridiculously amazing basketball because of his knee injuries. When he first got injured he could finish like Amare, his back to the basket game was amoung the best in the league and he had just started working on that outside jumper. If he never got hurt(or left phoenix for the Nuggets....*cries a little bit*) then there is no telling what he could have done. He and Larry Johnson always make me sad when I think about what could have been if not for injuries.

I got over the Mello thing quickly And seeing as Tayshawn is a better player than Carmelo, I would think they would have shut the fuck up by now. And yeah, I said it. Prince is a monster defender, and decent offensive player. Melo is a great scorer but his defense is nonexistant. You will win more game with a Prince than a Anthony. Mr. S£im Citrus 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 I never trip over Detroit passing up Anthony for Milicic... Although, I have been known to trip over them passing up Wade and Bosh for Milicic...

Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 There is no point in caring about it because whoever they drafted wouldn't have played. People forget Larry Brown was the coach. He found a way to not play Wade, James and Anthony on the fucking Olympic team. I am pretty sure that Wade, Bosh, and Anthony wouldn't have seen the court their rookie years.
