I'm happy for Garnett, always been one of my favorite players.

Call me an old curmudgeon but I wish pro sports would go back to the locker room, champagne bukake for trophy presentations of yesteryear rather than these made for t.v. on the court/field presentations with everyone's damn kids. It's even more annoying when the road team wins.

That was wierd.

"Almost 22 points a game averaged..." and he pauses so people can boo him?

Well, that commercial insures that I'll never buy a Denali in my life.

Those commercials are awesome.

I loved Paul Pierces speech also. It started off coherent, but just turned to him yelling random words that didn't go together.

The "Where is Kobe?" chant = awesome

"Se-ven-teen!"= awesome

Na na na na.... = overused and cliche.

A "run it up!" chant with Belichick on the tron would have made my night.

EDIT:

Lol @ the guy walking around the back giving interviews in a raincoat.

That's Cedric Maxwell ('81 Finals MVP) that does the radio calls. He's absolutely insane and I love listening to him call games.

Wow, I figured the Lakers would lose in anticlimactic fashion tonight, but by 39? They couldn't even put forth the Sonics 1996 "Yeah we're going to lose but at least sorta try" Game 6 effort.

Garnett's post game speech had me rolling. Ah well, he finally won a title so he's entitled to a bit of ranting and raving.

As far as which was worse between 2004 and 2008 for the Lakers, it was easily 2004. This team is Kobe and not much else, and also went against a Celtics team with a 9 game better record. The 2004 team had a juggernaut lineup on paper with Shaq, Kobe, Malone, and Payton, but the team fell apart at the seams during the Finals against a Detroit team that few gave any shot of winning.

I'm glad to see KG (and his primal screaming) and Allen get their rings. Pierce? Meh.

This series is gonna kill Kobe's legacy (and Phil's to a lesser extent), at least in the eyes of many NBA fans.

And just think guys, if it wasn't for this:

we'd have been a minute of football time away from Boston holding all 3 major championship titles.

Congrats to KG, but I think Ray Allen is a POS. Pierce deserved the work he put in, and the Lakers didn't look like they belonged in this at ALL. It was over from Game 5. What a horrible cap to a terrible postseason. I don't care much for the Lakers anymore, but I really didn't want to see Boston win another title, and it would've been nice to see Phil win his 10th against Red Auerbach's team.

Auerbach's probably lit up the victory cigar up above.

Wow, that was just badass to watch. I called into work to watch this game. I was thinking LA might take it. The paranoia was creeping in since my favorite teams always find a way to blow it (except the red sox) and then they get up that big!? I was laughing the entire time because the score just kept getting more and more absurd. I was waiting for the run to end and it never did.

Now I hope that guy is working at Champs tomorrow when I go in to buy my championship shirt.

I don't get all the Pierce hate, dude's one of my favorite players. For a while there he was the only player on Boston I could root for (well, i liked delonte west) and he still remains my fav.

I know everyone's saying that the Lakers will be all right next year, but they showed absolutely NO physical presence in this series save for stretches in games 3 and 5. That doesn't bode well for them since what should be the top teams in the East in '09 (Boston, Detroit, Cleveland, etc.) are physical teams. Bynum should help, but Pau Gasol absolutely wilted like a flower in this series and they really, really need to move Odom somewhere else.

You got me, dude; I don't get the hate for any of the "big three."

Someone on ESPN.com, not sure who, said if the Lakers got Bynum back healthy they could go 72-9 next season. That was a little head scratching.

Would the other team forfeit the last game cause the Lakers are too nasty?

I guess he said 73-9. Actually, he might've really said 72-9.

So how does everyone think this team looks next season? I assume the big three all hang around. I also assume Cassell and Brown retire. I hope they hold onto Posey and House though. And I'm still a Tony Allen fan, I hope he grows as a player and gets more time next season.

I'm happy for KG, but the Big Two and Ray Allen won't be as hungry next year. They'll win 50-52 games and lose in the 1st round to the 6th seeded Hawks in 7.

And to all of you Boston haters, just thank Eli for saving you from the single most insufferable 3-4 months of sports talk EVER. I think the entire US would have needed a sports media blackout if they would have had the 3 trophies that matter until October.

Odom and Gasol just fell off the map in this series. I cannot believe how shitty the LA defense was tonight and I'm glad to see KG get that "can't perform in big games" monkey off his back. Just a pretty amazing run from a year ago and good for the Cs brass and veterans.

I really don't want further sporting joy being brought to the lives of Bill Simmons and Boon.
