Maztinho Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 Moving from Breakfasts to deserts. Cake vs Pie. There can be only one.
The Metal Maniac Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 Cake. I don't like pie. I don't even like Washington Pie, which is actually a cake.
alfdogg Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 Depends on the variety. I would probably say cake overall, but I'd take a good cherry pie or peanut butter pie over most cakes. German chocolate is easily my favorite cake, it's what I have every year on my birthday.
Mr. S£im Citrus Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 Pie, unless it's upside down cake. Pineapple upside down cake > j00!
Guest Tzar Lysergic Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 See, this isn't like pancakes vs waffles. There's thousands of different kinds of cakes and pies. I'll take a devils food cake over a rhubarb pie, but a good lemon meringue beats the fuck out of just about every food on the planet.
Maztinho Posted June 8, 2008 Author Report Posted June 8, 2008 That's why I left it open. Also it could stir discussion on shades of cake vs pie. I'm alf in the German Chocolate Cake party. But my ex-wife make a chocolate Pie that was the greatest thing ever.
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 Fuck pie, with it's dry, flavorless crust. Fuck its mother, too. Cake all the way. What, you wanna go? Didn't think so.
Copper Feel Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 I am not really a large scale pie eater, but due to the quality of various variations of pie such as apple and cherry I would have to rank it far above cake overall, which I am not in the slightest bit fond of.
jwest27 Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 Pie has pumpkin pie, so pie wins. Man I love me some pumpkin pie.
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 My friend Nadine's chocolate pie is amazing. Otherwise, cake. EDIT: Yeah, I cleaned up a six-month-old drunk post.
devo Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 In most cases, pie. Hot apple pie a la mode is one of life's greatest joys.
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 Furthermore, is it gay of me to like angelfood cake? I hope not, because I don't like it, I fucking love it.
Maztinho Posted June 8, 2008 Author Report Posted June 8, 2008 Furthermore, is it gay of me to like angelfood cake? I hope not, because I don't like it, I fucking love it. Angelfood cake is perfectly acceptable. It's what Strawberry shortcake is made of. Shit yeah, son.
Broward83 Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 German chocolate is easily my favorite cake, it's what I have every year on my birthday. Cake, by armbar~!
Ravenbomb Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 Cake is all good stuff, whereas pie is occasionally good filling surrounded by a thin layer of bland, corrugated meh.
Dr. Zoidberg Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 Cake is the winner for me. I have yet to have a pie that tastes better than a good ol' fashioned Devil's Food Cake. Angel's Food, though...I'm on the fence about it.
Guest Tzar Lysergic Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 What kind of weak ass pie have you faggots been eating that has such a terrible crust? Did you buy it from the store or something?
Guest Vitamin X Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 In most cases, pie. Hot apple pie a la mode is one of life's greatest joys. ^ What he said. I don't like that many different kinds of cake, carrot, vanila, and chocolate flavors excepted. Pie is more wholesome and, when done right, fucking delicious. I'm a big fan of actual fruits and such making the pie taste good, not just some arbitrary flavoring. Cobbler, in my opinion, also counts as pie and it's fucking delicious.
Guest Tzar Lysergic Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 Sugar cream pie. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah.
MFer Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 Sugar cream pie. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah. That sounds (and looks) like heaven. I need to find one. I did say I liked cake better overall, but I sure do love me some egg custard pie (excuse the grammar).
Ravenbomb Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 Cake is the winner for me. I have yet to have a pie that tastes better than a good ol' fashioned Devil's Food Cake. Angel's Food, though...I'm on the fence about it. If I'm eating something else along with it, I will go to town on some Angel Food cake. On its own it's just okay. But if it's a piece of angel food cake and some strawberries, or a cinnamon bun, then it's good times.
NoCalMike Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 What would cheesecake be classified as? I mean yes, it has cake in the name, but it definately comes off more pie-like if you ask me. Pumpkin Pie, Sweet Potato Pie, Cream-Cheese Crust Topping & Dutch Apple pie(and other fruit) from this small apple orchard town called Apple Hill, 30 miles from Sacramento, make Pie the winner. Also a kickass peanut butter pie my mom makes. What about a Pasty vs. Danish challenge?
Lord of The Curry Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 Pie all day. I'm the only person at work who has requested the social committee bring me a strawberry rhubarb pie on my birthday.
