Personally I think it's a pretty nice ballpark and the immediate surrounding area isn't too bad.

I'd say it'd be worth your time to check out a game there. Very nice scenery and atmosphere and the food's pretty good.

Curt Schilling is not going to pitch this year, so this may be it for his career. Is he a Hall of Famer? Baseballreference.com has him right at the standard for getting in, so I think he'll get in. Maybe not as a first-ballot choice, but he'll get in.

I've only been to Dodger Stadium and Dolphins Stadium, personally. If only there were a lot more people, Marlins games would actually be really fun to go to.

I think he gets in, but on the 3rd or 4th ballot. He's come up huge in big games enough to overshadow whatever questions people might have about his numbers.

Haha, Cito Gaston. Oh man, you think maybe there's a reason he hasn't gotten another manager's job in 10 years?

He was going to be hired in 2004, but Reinsdorf intervened and signed Vinny Del Negro Ozzie Guillen instead.

"I told him next time he does that I'm going to get my blade out and cut him. I'm a gangster. You go gangster on me, I'm going to have to get you. You do that again, I'm going to cut you right on the field.

What.

I feel bad for Schilling. That he had to attempt rehab at all rather than surgery was a circumstance of having a one year contract. It was detrimental and ill fated from the start.

Hall of Fame? I say yes. 216 wins is at the lower end, but you have a high winning percentage, 127 ERA+ (42nd all time), and he is an amazing 11-2 in the postseason. He spent a few of his prime years with the Phillies when the offense was truly inept, keeping his win totals down. I don't sweat the counting stats if there's a HOF level peak, and Schilling certainly has it.

As for Ballparks:

Citizens Bank Park

Veterans Stadium

Yankee Stadium

Oriole Park at Camden Yards

I'm gonna listen to White Sox postgame. I'll keep a running tally of conspiracy theories and instances of the non-word "alls."

"They should've put Pablo Ozuna in instead of Jim Thome." Thome doesn't have the fire and the passion.

I just knew that the wheels would be coming off the bus this year. But it astonishes me how much the Jays have brought this on themselves.

Shows what people know about baseball in early March. I think there were a few people saying they were in the wild card hunt..ha.

/Will not mention that thanks to the Jays, the Os wont finish in last place this year like they were supposed to.

I wasn't aware that the season ended in the middle of June. Still over half the season to go.

This game is more like a suckfest than a slugfest. If I have to look at Craig Counsell's goofy-ass batting stance one more time, I'm going to defenestrate my television. I need some Piggly Wiggly Tailgate Tips. BADLY.

12th straight quality start for Edinson Volquez, who goes to 10-2 after beating the yankees.

Something funny though is Cincy Shortstops, I'm not sure if this has ever happened to Cincy, maybe someone here can say if it's happened to their favorite team.

Coming into season Shortstops

Alex Gonzalez--Put on DL with a broken knee

Jeff Keppinger takes over--put on DL with a broken knee

Jerry Hairston Jr. takes over--put on DL with a broken thumb

Jolbert Cabrera takes over--put on DL with a dislocated thumb

All of that by mid June

Paul Janish you're next, be afraid, be very afraid.

They're on their 5th ss by mid-June, none removed because of play, all due to injury.

What happens when a Switch Hitter faces a Switch Pitcher

Abbott and Costello would have loved Pat Venditte.

The comedy duo would have been proud to script the five-plus minute scene that occurred Thursday night in the ninth inning of the game between the Class A Staten Island Yankees and the Brooklyn Cyclones.

Venditte made his professional debut with Staten Island, less than two weeks after he was drafted by the Yankees in the 20th round. He pitched the ninth, and after retiring two batters and allowing a single, a switch hitter stepped to the plate.

That's hardly unusual. But it becomes intriguing against Venditte, a switch pitcher.

Things got a tad dizzying when designated hitter Ralph Henriquez, who had taken his on-deck circle swings as a lefty, entered the batter's box from the right side.

Venditte put his specially made glove (it has six fingers, two webs and fits on both hands) on his left hand, and got ready to pitch right-handed.

Henriquez then changed his mind and switched sides of the plate, because a batter sees the ball sooner when it is thrown by a pitcher using the opposite hand.

So Venditte shifted his glove to the other hand.

Then it happened again. And again. And again.

Apparently unsure of how the rules handle such an oddity, the umpires didn't stop the cat-and-mouse game until Venditte walked toward the plate and said something while pointing at Henriquez. Umpires and both managers then huddled and the umps decided the batter and pitcher can both change sides one time per at-bat, and that the batter must declare first.

The ruling favored the pitcher, since he gets to declare last.

About seven minutes after he first stepped in, Henriquez struck out on four pitches as a righty against a right-handed Venditte and slammed his bat in frustration. Staten Island won, 7-2.

AP

Ive always wondered why there werent more switch pitchers in baseball.

I swear the Toronto offense looks worse every time I get a chance to see it. They went against the Pirates who had the worst team ERA in the majors coming in and failed to score in 12 innings. Then of course they lost the game on what I believe went down as an unearned run.
