Lt. Al Giardello Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 Was thinking about starting this myself... I'm down.
Dr. Zoidberg Posted June 25, 2008 Author Report Posted June 25, 2008 Let's try and get 10 people in this, then we'll get it started. I pretty much already know the first round selections.
BruteSquad_BRODY Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 Toss in Super Heavyweights for amusement
Lei Tong Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 I imagine the draft order will follow Sherdog's Top Ten pretty closely.
Dr. Zoidberg Posted June 25, 2008 Author Report Posted June 25, 2008 Yeah. I dunno. It'd make the selections seem more "legit" I guess. I dunno. I'm just throwing out ideas here. Nothing's final yet.
Lord of The Curry Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 These things confuse me. I am not really sure about being down. Plus it's kinda gay. Let fighters be fighters.
Dr. Zoidberg Posted June 25, 2008 Author Report Posted June 25, 2008 These things confuse me. I am not really sure about being down. Plus it's kinda gay. Let fighters be fighters. How on earth is choosing your favorite strong tough man who can roll around with other strong tough men considered "gay?"
starvenger Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 Let's do it. But just to clarify, which weight classes? Heavyweight - 206-265 Light-Heavyweight - 186-205 Middleweight - 171-185 Welterweight - 161-170 Lightweight - 146-160 Featherweight - 136-145 Bantamweight - 126-135 Caranoweight - 140-whateverthehellsheweighsinat.
Mik Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 Here's what I propose. One guy from each main weight class, which works out to 7 guys. (HW, LHW, MW, WW, LW, FW, BW) Then we each get to pick 3 additional guys from whatever you want, which would include the super heavyweights or girls or what have you. So everyone gets 10 selections. So, let's say for instance that in round one I select B.J. Penn... I could still select Roger Huerta in round 3 as sort of a wild card selection but by the time I get to the end of all 10 rounds I would have to have someone from every weight class. I think that's the best way to do it. I'll do it as well.
The Niggardly King Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 I'm in bitches. Alexander Otsuka, Zulu, and a shitty Gracie say we gonna have the best draft yet.
Youth N Asia Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 Truth be told I wouldn't know enough anything below lightweight
starvenger Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 We could probably lump them in as 160 and under then?
Dr. Zoidberg Posted June 26, 2008 Author Report Posted June 26, 2008 I like Mik's idea, but let's make it the Five main UFC weight classes, the lowest being Lightweight. Mainly because I don't think I've ever seen a Bantam or Featherweight fight. This is just easier all in all. 8 picks all together, weight class picks first, then 3 Wild cards from whatever Everyone down? It's closed to new entrants, James Thompson's Cauliflower Ear is up first
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 Boo! Last pick. Does this mean I get the first pick in Round 2?
Dr. Zoidberg Posted June 26, 2008 Author Report Posted June 26, 2008 You get two picks when it gets to you.
Mik Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 I don't think we should each have to pick a certain weight class in each round because then the guys in the middle will never have a #1 ranked fighter. I think it's just best available... need to fill all weight classes. I'm telling you right now that I'm not thinking HW at #2.

Dr. Zoidberg Posted June 26, 2008 Author Report Posted June 26, 2008 Done and done. Changing it right now.
Youth N Asia Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 I posted the same thing as Mik but it didn't come up. Yeah. I think you should be free to pick whoever you want, but it's up to you to fill your weight classes.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 1st pick is no suprise to anyone... Anderson Silva, pound 4 pound the best fighter in the world today.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 I bet I know who the next two picks are.
Mik Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 To the surprise of probably no one I will select BJ Penn.
Dr. Zoidberg Posted June 27, 2008 Author Report Posted June 27, 2008 My first pick, is none other than Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.
