Affliction: Day of Reckoning

Recommended Posts

After he beats up Barnett who's left for Fedor outside of the UFC

Alistair Overeem's the only remotely interesting opponent i can think of.

And despite almost needing to be stretchered out i fully expect Lindland to complain about the stoppage or have some sort of excuse for losing, god knows he's done it for every other loss in his career.

Tomorrow's going to be a repeat of Arlovski vs. Datsik.

Fedorable!!!

Just came back from the fight. I was also at the first Affliction too, but I enjoyed this one much more.

I hope Belfort can turn the annihilation of The Law into a re-match with Tito. I always felt Vitor got robbed in that fight.

For the boxing fans here; that Lindland KO was almost as frightening as the Codrington one at the hands of Green.

Robbed? I think most people would agree that the first round could have went either way, especially an early Belfort flurry ended up with him getting momentarily dropped and Tito ending the round with some decent G&P.

EDIT: And why would it lead to a rematch, when Belfort has stated he wants to stay at 185?

I think Ortiz and Belfort would be willing to change divisions for that fight. It has a built in angle and I think its pretty much the best fight for an Ortiz debut.

Ortiz ain't cutting to 185 short of cutting off a leg (though, considering one of his is almost useless at this point, maybe that's not too far-fetched...). Also, I don't actually think people really care much about a rematch between the two; plus, Tito is closing in on the end of his career, and with Vitor trying to find some relevance, I don't think a one-off fight would really benefit Affliction anymore than Tito versus any number of other guys.

I think they are gunning for Tito/Babalu.

I see no reason why Dana isn't on the phone with Vitor's people already.

that's like 10 times what the UFC was paying Arlovski. They gotta know they could have paid him much less and still gotten him

150 for lil Nog??? Why?

I cannot see Affliction surviving these payouts

I agree. I really don't see a 3rd show being economically feasible. While it turned out to be a great card, they will take a huge bath with this show.

Brock v. Fedor may happen sooner than people think.

Affliction has never been a barrier for the UFC agreement. Non-factor really. It's always been Fedor wanting to be able to do whatever he wants, and his management being huge douches. If the two sides wanted to deal, they'd deal.

Fedor would probably have signed with UFC years ago if it wasn't for his management. They honestly believe that using "M-1 Global" they can reach some level off Fedor's back that they can be competitive with UFC. I don't honestly think Fedor's fully aware of everything that's been said or done.
