Did Tito Santana have some different music after the Strike Force break-up? The 10/89 MSG show sounds like his singles theme is dubbed into the show (and yes I realize I'm asking a question about a show that shouldn't even be on 24/7 right now, but someone might know now).

I remember that match from CV's Mega Matches (1991). I figured this board would crush me years ago for admitting to liking a Jim Duggan match, but no. This match was one of those worth the price of admission to the fans there as they really got into it and forgot that they were essentially at a house show.

WWE Old School

WWE Philly card: 3/14/87

Thankfully the Philly card is still up on WWE 24/7 Classics On Demand, so maybe someone will have the answer to this question. Dick Graham made a comment before the card begain, stating Gorilla Monsoon wasn't 'there' this week and Kenny Resnick was taking his place on commentary.

If you fast forward to the Piper's Pit segment and pause the program at 1:40 (1 Hour & 40 Minutes), you'll see a man in a blue long sleeve shirt with glasses escorting "Adorable" Adrian Adonis to the back area. This was after Adonis interfeared in the segment. The guy in the blue longsleeve shirt looks just like Moonsoon. I guess they goofed up saying Moonsoon wasn't there, when in fact he was there. Even at the end of the program Graham said Monsoon was 'visiting elsewhere'.

Anyone know if this was really Moonson? It sure looks like him.

They probably made a goof just like you did...

How did I goof up?

::confused::

I thought it was Monsoon, just asking for other people's thoughts on the matter. Sorry if it sounded like I didn't think it was Monsoon.

Sorry about the spelling mistakes. I didn't know this message board critiqued all that. I'll be sure to use a different spell check program, I guess it didn't catch the mistakes, nor did I. This is the program that I use.

I'm in the hospital (sick) so I had to finish up that post quickly. Wish I had more time on the PC. I think I typed 'Moonsoon' because I was talking to a nurse about moon pies just several minutes before that post. I guess it was on my mind still. HA!

I'll be sure to use a better program in the future. Thanks for understanding.

I wouldn't sweat it. You're proper use of italices with WWE 24/7 On Demand makes up for it imo.

Thanks :D

In the December 1982 Madison Square Garden show, I love how both Vince McMahon and Gorilla Monsoon are trying their hardest at the start of the show to get the attention of ring announcer Mel Phillips so he can turn around and face the camera. When they can't get his attention, they try to get Eddie Gilbert's attention to tell him and when that doesn't work, they finally get the attention of S.D. Jones who politely walks up to Phillips and turns him towards the camera.

It's amazing how bad Graham looked there. I think he wasn't yet 40 there, but he looked like he was a rough 60+. On the flipside, although he's gained weight since the mid 80's, he's actually looked the same since then.

And man was that a bad match.

Backlund and Graham barely looked like they were hitting each other.

On his DVD, Graham tells an interesting story leading up to that match. According to him, he overdosed the day of the match because of all the pills he was taking and went to the hospital. He told the doctor he was going to leave and yanked out everything he was hooked up to. Two orderlys came in to stop him but after taking one look at him, move out of his way. Might be where that bandage came from.

I used to have a tape of the MSG feed of this show and that was Tito's actual theme at the time. No dubbing necessary.

I really enjoy these old school cards. I just wish they'd show more cards from the 1970s. I'm not complaining one bit, because these gems are a real treat.

For those who haven't watched the Houston Show they put up this week, I wouldn't even bother. Tito vs Jake Roberts is a disappointment, lacking any real action or excitement. JYD vs Savage isn't bad, and I was entertained by the interaction between Savage and Monsoon, but the rest of the card is almost exclusively jobber squashes. You also have to love the crowd chanting "USA" during a British Bulldogs vs Sheik and Volkoff match.

That's too bad. I never recall a match between these two and I think they could be capable of a great one.

Was Monsoon calling Savage "The Not-So-Macho Man."?

Worse . . . he tried getting an interview w/ Elizabeth during the match. That set Savage off.

IIRC, Santana/Roberts was one of those matches where if you go in expecting something great, you'll be disappointed. If you're expecting it to be not so good, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

That probably was Savage shooting given how nuts he was.
