Your 10 Favorite Albums

Recommended Posts

It's been awhile, right? There have been changes since the last time I compiled my list. The top three remains the same.

01. Tom Waits - Rain Dogs (1985)

02. David Bowie - Hunky Dory (1971)

03. OutKast - Aquemini (1998)

04. Wire - Pink Flag (1977)

05. Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life (1976)

06. The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico (1967)

07. Roxy Music - Avalon (1982)

08. Robyn Hitchcock & the Egyptians - Fegmania! (1985)

09. The Wedding Present - Seamonsters (1991)

10. The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers (1971)

Too many albums worth mentioning to bother with an Honorable Mention list.

I rarely ever make lists, so, when I do, it is carefully considered. My favorite-album list only changes whenever it is warranted, which isn't very often..

EDIT: Removed "every few years" to "whenever it is warranted, which isn't very often," as the latter is more accurate.

In no particular order...For some reason, the desert island disc I made a week ago is a bit different from this one. And its not all based on my tastes changing rapidly.

David Bowie- Station to Station ( I know coked up, blue eyed soul period Bowie isn't very popular on here but it's my favorite era of his)

The Beatles- Revolver

The Beatles- Abbey Road

Bryan Ferry- These Foolish Things

Michael Jackson- Off The Wall (Six months ago, it was Thriller. I've changed my mind though my preference is, has, and always will be a toss up)

Fountains of Wayne- Fountains of Wayne

Ben Folds Five- Ben Folds Five

The Beach Boys- Wild Honey

The Beach Boys- Sunflower

Bruce Springsteen- The Wild, The Innocent, and The E Street Shuffle (Thanks to Czech wherever he is for recommending me this one)

I'm not sure I'd say that. That album rules. Yeah, I think conventional wisdom gives Low, Hunky Dory, Ziggy, and maybe Scary Monsters more standing in his catalog, but you can't go wrong with IT'S NOT THE SIDE EFFECTS OF THE COCAINE I'M THINKIN THAT IT MUST BE LOVE.

Yeah, that's far and away my favorite Bowie (it very nearly made my own list but was cut in favor of Ghetto Music in the spirit of increased genre diversity). Coked up paranoia is one of my favorite aesthetics, and that album oozes it from every pore.

I know for certain, there was one notable poster here that didn't like Thin White Duke era Bowie and I probably mistakenly took that poster as the voice of the TSM Music Folder's conscience. I think it was Inc for the record.
