Ongoing ECW Spoilers for Jan 27, 2009

Recommended Posts

Real time spoilers taken from - http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/wwe-spoi...ary-27-2009.php

ECW opens with Theodore Long in the ring. He says that Matt Hardy has requested his release from ECW and will now be on SmackDown.

Brilliant decision Teddy. Why not try and trade him for something in return. Instead you let a former champion walk for nothing. And the puny roster gets smaller...

Complete ongoing spoiler -

Dolph Ziggler b. DJ Gabriel

- Ziggler gets the win following his finisher.

ECW On Sci-Fi: (Airing Tomorrow)

* ECW opens with Theodore Long in the ring. He says that Matt Hardy has requested his release from ECW and will now be on SmackDown. He then announces that Boogeyman is in the building. Jack Swagger comes out and interrupts him. Swagger says that there is going to be a championship celebration tonight. Boogeyman comes out from under the ring and chases him off.

* Ricky Ortiz vs. Boogeyman

- Ortiz comes out and tries to give Boogeyman a rally towel. Boogeyman clotheslines him out of the ring and the ref throws out the match before it gets started.

* A Tribute to the Troops video package is shown.

A backstage segment airs with Swagger complaining that somebody stole his belt

* Finlay b. Paul Burchill

- Katie Lea is out with Paul Burchill and Hornswoggle is with Finlay. The match goes back and forth for a while until Hornswoggle distracts Burchill long enough for Finlay to gain the advantage. Finlay gets the win following his Celtic Cross finisher. During the match Hornswoggle chases Katie Lea around ringside.

* Backstage Swagger tries to get Tiffany to help him find the missing ECW Championship belt.

* Jack Swagger then confronts Mark Henry about the belt.

Ooh - Finlay vs Burchill. I wonder how much time it got - I might have to tune in.

* Mark Henry b. Tommy Dreamer

- Mark Henry misses an elbow drop and slams into the ring. Tommy Dreamer goes to the top rope and jumps off. Henry catches him and hits the World's Strongest Slam followed by a pinfall.

* Theodore Long, Tiffany, and Jack Swagger head to the ring to get Swagger's ECW title belt back. Theodore Long gets on the mic and calls out whomever stole the title. Finlay makes his way out to ringside. Hornswoggle appears from underneath the ring with the ECW Championship belt. Swagger hits Hornswoggle and Finlay takes him out with a shot to the head to end this week's ECW.

That's this weeks show.

Wrestling isn't real... Teddy Long didn't really release Matt Hardy from ECW.

The WWE creative team decided to move Matt Hardy to SD! full time to further the Jeff Hardy storyline. Instead of blaming a fake general manger who has no control over what the creative team decides, blame the writers.

He's blaming the character. Because the character was written to release Hardy from his contract and free him up to go to SD. Thus he criticizes the character's decision.

Its like someone criticizing the actions of Locke from Lost. And coming back with "Locke didn't really decide to push that button. The Lost writers simply wrote him to do that because they wanted it to happen. Don't use that action to help shape your opinion of the character. It was the writers' fault."

So now this is a forum that speaks in kayfabe? I thought the only poster here who speaks in kayfabe is JN News.

Also, with Hardy moving to SmackDown!, they could have said they traded him for a future consideration, or a superstar to be named later. Then when a new guy shows up on ECW, they can say that his SmackDown! contract was traded to ECW as part of the Matt Hardy deal.

How is that kayfabe? Don't people in the TV and Movie forums constantly reference the character's motivations and discuss their actions? Don't we constantly criticize the actions of the character? Are all those people who call Samoa Joe a whiner calling Samoa Joe the performer a whiner? Or his character on TNA programming?

Teddy Long, the performer, is doing what the writer asked him to do. Teddy Long, the GM of SD, did something that seems stupid for a GM to do. Because the writers wrote it that way. Just like Swagger looks like a coward because he ran away from Boogey and someone looks like a loser because he loses a match.

Actually reacting to the programming is "keeping kayfabe"? I just assumed it was the point of watching actors and performers act. To actually watch their characters and the make believe worlds they live in.

EDIT: And yeah, there could be an added part to a "trade" that isn't mentioned, of course. But on the surface Long simply letting a valuable superstar go seems like a bad GM move.

Wow, ECW not only gets a spoiler thread but an ON-GOING spoilers thread this week?

Teddy Long has already shown to be inept with contracts (see: Kelly Kelly going to Raw) so it fits his character. Like others have said, all it really means if they didn't feel like wasting Matt's explanation on ECW.

I was going to say ArmDrag Fan, as the former Canadian Dragon, possibly dated this thread as the 30th because that's when it airs in Canada, but I'll change it.

I honestly can't believe they changed Finlay's usual go-to match finish. Rather than Hornswoggle distracting the referee long enough for Finlay to hit his opponent with his stick for the win. This time, Horswoggle distracts Burchill long enough for Finlay to hit the Celtic Cross for the win. I wonder where the storyline with Dreamer is going. Even JR said in his blog that he really could care less about Dreamer's retirement angle.

For the record, Finlay-Burchill gets about 4 1/2 minutes. Henry-Dreamer gets about 5 1/2.

Only in WWE can the guy with the retirement angle not get pushed.

Yeah, but it's Tommy Dreamer, he's always been booked as an underdog.

Matt Striker is great! Not only did he make reference to Mark Henry's Nation of Domination era, he also gave us a brilliant anecdote about going to see a Hip-Hop related film with a monster heel. Superb!
