JHawk Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 For my makeup pick, I'm taking SP Nolan Ryan. And no, I honestly didn't see he'd been taken.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 I originally was going to take Nolan Ryan, but I changed my mind and went with Cy Young instead. 511 wins is just to hard to pass over. Anyway since it's my pick, I'm going to start on my infield with... Ernie Banks
Fökai Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 I can't imagine letting this guy drop any further... Greg Maddux.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 17, 2009 Author Report Posted March 17, 2009 Fokai, that covers Monday's missed pick. You've got another pick you can make immediately, and then tomorrow's at 4am ET. (10pm your time)
Smartly Pretty Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 I almost took Maddux. I was deciding between Maddux and Pedro, but in the end, I couldn't take a guy responsible for so much childhood summertime angst. There's one more pitcher still out there I really like, and I plan on having my rotation 80% by tomorrow. These are fun again.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 I debated between Maddux and Ripken for a while but figured I wnated to continue focusing on my infield.
Brett Favre Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Ha. I also debated between Maddux and Carlton. I'll explain why I picked Carlton later.
Fökai Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Batting third to protect Ruth... First Baseman, Hank Greenberg.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Damn, hoping he would drop to me tomorrow.
HarleyQuinn Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 1B Cap Anson - 3418 Hits, .333 BA, 21 HR in 1884
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 18, 2009 Author Report Posted March 18, 2009 C Yogi Berra Forget the personality. This is a player who won three MVP awards in five seasons. He finished top four in MVP voting in seven consecutive seasons. An outstanding player.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Damnit! I was considering taking him this round, but went with Banks.
Fökai Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Moving around the infield, second basemen, Charlie Gehringer. Perhaps a reach, but a guy valued equally for his bat and glove. *1937 AL MVP *Finished in Top 6 of MVP Voting in five consecutive years, which I will go with. Batted over .325 with 200 hits and 100 RBI, then led the league in fielding percentage and assists in each of those seasons.
Gert T Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 With my 4th pick I select: LF Manny Ramirez
Agent of Oblivion Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 I'll get mine in a little early: Mark McGwire
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Well, I was gonna hold off on pitching and finish off my in-field but when Maddux and Spahn both escaped, I decided I needed a true ace. So I'll grab the most caucasian guy there is: Whitey Ford
Smartly Pretty Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 LHP Bill Foster. My rotation eats yours for breakfast.
Smues Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Johan Santana. No picture because I'm in a hurry. I wanted Mathews, and since he's gone I had no time to actually do research today. Bah.
