I apologize for feeling like venting a little and having the audacity to post it in the "General Chat" area and then forcing you to read it. No Tom, they haven't done a thing to the plumbing except tell us that our toilet paper is too heavy and we should use a thinner brand. We're still fighting them on it, but damn man, I am tired of the fight. kkk: We had a home built for us. Nice house really, 3 bedroom, bath and a half, full basement. Very nice from the outside and in a very nice neighborhood. We paid, give or take about 150,000 which in our neck of the woods is about average, maybe a little high, but not bad for a new house.

This "owning your own home" crap is for the freakin' birds. I've had nothing but trouble with mine and my wife and I are nearly broke just trying to keep up with it. Add in the fact that I am a lazy bastard at heart and don't like the idea of having to use up all of my free time just to do upkeep on this stupid thing. I think I liked it better when we were renting. Sure, it was just money down a bottomless pit and the place was kind of a dump, but I didn't have sewage in the basement and I didn't have to mow the grass and if a window cracked or the plumbing got all f'd up, it wasn't my damn problem.

Well, Old School's got me by a couple of years, but I think I may qualify for second oldest at 31.

I can only speak for the shows I've been to recently, but the crowds in Ohio have been super-hot, even for a house show back in March or so. Hell, HWA was drawing 100 - 150 people a show with pretty terrible advertising right before they lost their Developmental Contract. The crowd in Dayton last night was incredibly hot most of the night. In fact, they blew the roof off the joint when Rhyno came out for a dark match. The only downer on the night were the rude freakin' security at the Nutter Center. Yelling at my friends and I to "keep moving" in the parking lot when I stopped to get a rock out of my shoe was just wrong. eh...

I was at the show in Dayton last night and the crowd was pretty good. But to say Benoit wasn't over with the live crowd is poppycock. I know the cheers sound loads different on TV than live, but I looked around the arena at howmany people were raising their hands and cheering when Benoit came out. The man was over. No two ways about it. Everything he did in the match was cheered and the only reason the crowd got quiet off and on was that we were suprised at the length of the match. We kept waiting for the srewy rush-job ending. The fact that Nutter Center has huge frickin' clocks all over the arena didn't help. All the guys in the main event got good pops.

Wow. I hadn't heard a thing about the Ithilien Crossroads scene. That's one of my favorite little moments of the book. I hope it makes it back in. Thanks Curry.

I can add a little knowledge to LotC's post from reading the "Collector's Edition" EW mag I got with the RotK Theatrical DVD. I'm not sure if this is confirmation, but what the hey? - Showdown between Gandalf and The Witch King Apparently, The Witch King breaks Gandalf's staff. - The Houses of Healing scenes w/ Aragorn and Eowyn. Faramir may be included in these scenes but it isn't confirmed. Faramir is included as they show the beginnins of the relationship shown at the coronation ceremony. - Confrontation at The Black Gate between Aragorn and Sauron's Lieutenant During this scene, the Mouth of Sauron taunts the good guys with Frodo's mithril shirt to make them think he is dead. - Frodo and Sam at The Crossroads before they enter Mordor I'm not sure about the "before they enter Mordor" part, but there is a scene where Frodo and Sam dump the orc mail and a bunch of their stuff at a crossroads in Mordor.

I can see that, but only in a way that any fantasy story that adheres to the "quest" motif would be a ripoff of Lord of the Rings.

I'm a Jack Daniel's man myself. How I drink it depends on what I feel like drinking. I like it striaght, on the rocks, in a chilled glass, mixed with Coke and mixed with Sour mix. As far as Tequila goes, I love the stuff but it gives me heartburn so I have to be careful to have some food in my stomach before I start drinking. For beer, I'll drink Corona, Killian's, Harp, Bass and the occasional Guiness. Other than those, there is a brewery here in town that has awesome Wheat Beer. And DFA: That's Jagermeister you're drinking with your Red Bull. Powerful mojo there my friend... powerful mojo.

Got it. I was thinking something different. However, I have to say that if he was feeling nostalgic for the Golden Age, he did a good job as mid-wife to the newer, more depressing and gritty comics we have today. Everyone is a tortured soul, even people who shouldn't be.

As a rule, location shooting is done as a group seperate from any studio work. Mind you that there are exceptions. Any location or production manager worth his salt will have a "weather location" ready to go during a location shoot in case of inclement weather. The order of scened shot has more to do with availability of locations and actual studio sets than anything. For example, if there is a scene from the beginning of a movie, the middle and the end on a particualr location or set, you shoot those together so you don't have to go to the location over and over or you can strike the set and build a new one for a different scene. There is someone on the crew of nearly every movie called the continuity director or manager that is supposed to keep the mistakes you mentioned from happening. (The dents in the car and scratch on the face disappearing and reappearing for example). Hope that helps.

You've got a point K, but there is a small flaw in the logic. While comics had become more complex by the mid 80's, it was a combination of Watchmen and Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns (and to a lesser extent his run on Daredevil) that really pushed comics down the dark, gritty and realistic road. I remember reading an interview with Moore (the one linked above, I think) where he seems a little sorry for being one of the major causes of that movement in comics. I think he says something like "The comics are still in a bad mood I got over 20 years ago".

Biggest heartbreakers for me? The aforementioned Montana Miracle from Super Bowl XXIII. As a lifelong Bengals fan, I could hardly sleep that night. Reds / Mets - Playoff game 1999. But the biggest heartbreaker ever? Listening to Bud Selig cancel the rest of the '94 season, including the playoffs and World Series.

Hey... now while I admit to watching G.I. Joe: The movie about a hundred times, and I think that Nemesis Enforcer is about as cool as can be, all I'm saying is that with the franky goofy plot and terrible animation (if they shot in less than 3s, I'd be shocked) is is a far worse animated movie movie than Final Fantasy. And Shrek (1 & 2) are better than both of them.

Actually, I always kind of assumed that WWE existed in SWFLand. It makes more things make sense. And, with the right money behind the effort, I think apromotion closely modeled on ours could get over. Of course, we'd need our own network...

Those of you saying that Finding Nemo, Shrek or even Final Fantasy are the worst animated movies ever have obviously never seen such stunning examples of the artform as: Tom and Jerry in The Magic Ring The Land Before Time 2 - 11 The Black Cauldron My Little Pony: The Movie G.I. Joe: The Movie (Cobra-la-la-la-la-la) Titan A.E. The Lord of the Rings Pocahontas Space Jam ... shall I go on?

It was pretty good. Not great, not as good as the first but I didn't feel like I wasted my money. It seemed to me that part of the fun of the first movie was seeing all of the rules being broken (the heavy pop-culture stuff, the satiric edge, flat-out shots at Disney stuff) and we wondered "what will they do now?" We expect it in the second one, and while there are some tremendously funny scenes, it felt a little hollow to me. In my opinion, neither Shrek can hold a candle to the better Disney movies (Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Lion King) or the Pixar stuff. It annoys me to this day that Shrek beat Monsters, Inc. for best animated picture.

To throw my two cents worth in: Basically, I picked Dace's over Tom's mostly because of that elusive "flow" that everyone complains about. Dace's felt mre like a complete match than Tom's, I felt more like I watching a good match rather than reading a good match. More verisimillitude, I guess. In the final analysis, they were both really, really good matches and I think you can make a good argument that either of them could have won just depending on who was marking it. A stellar effort from both men.
