Of course, Peyton did get the same kind of press as Donovan when he first started out, until the press suddenly decided he was a choker and collectively gave him that label. Just wait until Eli Manning hits the NFL if you are looking for a while quarterback who is going to be given the blowjob push by the media.

I think this one will actually bounce off quite easily. Schwarznegger has raised large amounts of money for the Simon Weisenthal center, and a leading rabbi and center founder has already done a news interview with CNN defending Arnorld and saying that he has helped more than any other actor to raise public awareness about the Holocaust.

Student may wear Bush 'terrorist' shirt
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to bob_barron's topic in Current Events
I remember Mick Jagger wearing a shirt with a big swastika on the front during a concert (in Buffalo?). -
That's basically correct, although the Liberal party of Canada (not one one under discussion here, which is the provincial Liberal party of Ontario) is really not very liberal. Members of the federal Libs would probably be a mix of moderate Republicans and moderate Democrats were they in the USA instead. To be reaslly simplistic about it, the Federal Liberal party is socially liberal and fiscally conservative. In the province I live in (BC) we have an even more conservative "Liberal" government. Most of the members are former conservatives who jumped on the Liberal party's bandwagon after they killed off the conservative party in the early 90s.

Won't happen, because they'll all throw their support behind Buchanan.

Peyton Manning received the same type of fawning attention from the media when he first broke in, and the press are already jumping over each other to proclaim Eli as the next Bret Favre or something.

I personally don't think either of the other two was an Oscar calibre movie, and I hope they don't give this one an Oscar just to satiate the salivating fanboys who think this is the Godfather trilogy or something.

Halftime band performance used Nazi flag...
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to kkktookmybabyaway's topic in Current Events
That's a pretty funny coincidence. As for the event itself, while I can appreciate what they were trying to do, there are some things that simply shouldn't be paraded around regardless of the context. -
The MNW DVD could be cool as long as they fill it with all the semi-shoot stuff like the DX Invasion of Nitro and the CNN Center, Bischoff giving away the results of RAW on the air ("pins the big guy with 3 superkicks"), X-Pacs return interview, etc.

The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection DVD Cover...
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to Steviekick's topic in The WWE Folder
It would be real hard for them to cover it up this time. Imagine all the fuzzy screen we'd see covering both the belt...AND the WWF logo!!! I was under the impression they don't have to blur out the pre attitude-era logo. -
From cnn.com Where's that quote of Marney's again?
-
He's not a bad person for Goldberg to squash, I suppose.

What's funny is that I bet Tim has no problem with guys like Jeff Lynch selling copyrighted WWE material.

So should Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, and DMX get billed as O'Shea Jackson, Calvin Broadus, and Earl Simmons? The fact is plenty of actors, particularly crossover stars, stick with their stage/gimmick names when they start doing movies, because they are more recognizable that way.

The BCS also produced one of the best bowl seasons in NCAA history in 2000, where we were treated to four great games: Sugar Bowl: Florida State 46 - Virginia Tech 29 Orange Bowl: Michigan 35 - Alabama 34 (OT) Fiesta Bowl: Nebraska 31 - Tennessee 21 Rose Bowl: Wisconsin 17 - Stanford 9
-
What's funny is that for all the bitching about the BCS, it has still managed to convincingly determine the national champion during every year of its existence. As a Michigan fan, I will take the BCS any day over seeing the #1 ranked Wolverines win their title game and fall to #2 in one poll because the stupid "traditional matchups" gave them a weaker opponent while the #2 team got to beat up on the #3 in another game.

Looks awesome. The battle in Zion looks great too.

I really like Blind Guardian - Nightfall on Middle Earth.
-
My prediction: Oklahoma goes undefeated, everyone else loses at least once, while Michigan sneaks into the Sugar Bowl by beating Ohio State in the final game of the year.

The One and Only Rundown Thread
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to iliketurtles's topic in Television & Film
I think the positive reviews and weaker competition are going to give this thing much better staying power than the Scorpion King though. -
One of the saddest things about this is it didn't even end up being funny, just pathetic. I read the "reasonings" on some of the cards, and I'd wager I could come up with something wittier in a bowl of alphabet soup.

Clark I think is just in there to make some noise and raise his public profile in anticipation of his friend Dean winning. Clark would then be Dean's running mate.

Return the Champagne Bottles...
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to The Dames's topic in No Holds Barred
The fact that the folder is called No Holds Barred makes it pretty clear that flaming is acceptable. May I remind you of the folder's tagline: All flaming and hatred threads (aimed at wrestlers, posters, whoever) go in here. If you don't like it, DON'T GO IN! -
There's nothing wrong with being pragmatic in politics. I personally have supported people who I wouldn't say were my personal favorite candidates, but I felt they were my best bet to get a representative whose views are reasonably close to my own. I'm certainly not going to be one of these idealists who votes for someone (or some party, as the case may be) with no chance of winning, then complains afterwards about not being fairly represented.
-
I'd agree with you if the votes weren't tallied from articles which dealt specifically with the debate, and if the question itself didn't deal directly with the debate. If it were "Who would be the best governor?" or something similar, then "star power" would play a more significant role. As for the issues, if you Californians have ever been interested in or knowledgeable about those, why in God's name did you not only elect but re-elect Gray Davis? Well, when the other side nominates someone as un-electable as Bill Simon, it's not a total surprise. I think Richard Riordan, who would have gotten strong endorsements from both Bush and his friend Ah-nuld, would have beaten Davis in the last election, but I suppose he wasn't conservative enough for the people who run the state republican party.
