In my copy of the Bible, it's "I am the root and offspring of David, and the bright and morning star." Isaiah 14:12 - St.Jerome translates 'morning star' into the Latin term, 'Lucifer', which is a name often associated with Satan. I just find it amusing that Jesus reveals himself to be Satan in the Bible. As for the quote, Cancer Marney's explanation is correct, it's from Thomas Paine's Age of Reason.
