It wasn't really a spider. Try not to let the movie influence your perception of the end of the book. The spider and the turtle were just loose representations of entities which couldn't be comprehended or expressed in words. He was pretty much channeling Lovecraft there. It is my favorite book he's written, and the only one I really like. The rest are pretty good at best, It's the only one I'd call great. After that, I like The Regulators and it's companion Desperation, probably his most frenetic and bizarro work. Danse Macabre is interesting, though he's dead wrong about a lot of stuff, both factually and in my opinion.

I'll turn it around a bit, because I get asked "Do you work here?" fairly regularly... but I don't work there. At least once every couple of weeks somebody will just come up and ask where something is or something, and there's no indication at all that I'm employed by whatever store I'm in. That happens to my dad all the time too, guess it runs in the family. Less personal, but I hate people that get in an elevator and push a button that's already lit, or worse, keep pushing it like that will make it faster.

And if you've listened to the entire album, which I'm almost certain you would have, you'd know perfectly well that a line such as that works brilliantly with the demeanor Manson has created for 'Golden Age of the Grotesque'. Taking it out of context doesn't do Manson's brilliance any favours. True, you could pluck many such gems from the GA of G's lyrical hedgerow. I just particularly enjoy the line I quoted and you could probably sum up the spirit of the album with that one line (or maybe the chorus of "This Is the New Shit"). I like it's unmissable placement and repetion in the song... a lot of the great lyrics seem to kind of fly by, with a feeling of "Wait a minute... what the hell did he just say?" He's done better from an artistic standpoint, but for listening pleasure I think it's his best work.

I liked Wild Things pretty well too, and it had gratuitous sex on top of it. Not all that often you get that in a good movie. Cruel Intentions 2 was a failed tv pilot, by the way.

I was never too much of a Biggie fan, not cause I didn't like him, I just never really got around to listening to him if you know what I mean. If this thread gets a lot of replies I'll probably use it as a springboard, cause I have been meaning to get a little deeper into his catalogue. Anyway, in my limited experience, "Juicy" is probably my favorite song of his. "Who Shot Ya" is pretty good too. The rebuttal is probably better as a dis, but I still like it a lot.
