One and Only Star Wars Geekiness Thread
SuperJerk replied to Black Lushus's topic in Television & Film
Its as if the setting became a character unto itself, which was never the point. -
Roslin realizing before Adama did that Cain was going to try to kill Adama seemed pretty out of character. The only rationale I can think of would be that some of the rumors about the crimes committed by Cain aboard Pegasus got to Rosalin, and Adama was still trying to convince himself that Cain was behaving ethically even though he disagreed with her decisions. Rosalin also seemed pretty quick with the "Hey, let's kill her" decision, but she's probably had time to think over worse-case scenarios since Cain was ignoring her and the civilian fleet for most of the last episode. The confrontation between the Vipers at the beginning was cool, even though no shots were fired. It was good to be reminded that these aren't Star Wars ships, and manuever according to the rules of a 3-dimensional, no-gravity environment (instead of zipping around like jetfighters). Since the Pegasus using nothing but the newer fighters, I'm wondering how they lasted this long without a Cylon computer virus. It was shown during and since the mini-series that the only reason Galactica survived was because she had older Vipers and no computer networks aboard.

I just finished watching all of season one. I really liked the way a one-liner about Saddam Hussein's palace from an episode earlier in the season got turned into an entire storyline at the end of the season.

Here's the key.

8 months later... My wife is upstairs watching this movie right now. "You've been watching this for an hour." "So?" "I haven't heard you laugh yet." "I didn't know it was supposed to be funny." Actual conversation.

Ron Moore's podcast for tonight's show is up. Resurrection Ship Part 1 http://scifi.com/battlestar/downloads/podcast/

I always test my setting by playing the Death Star explosion from A New Hope.

I've been hearing that the extended cut of "Pegasus" (the one Moore talked about in the podcast) will be on the BGS 2.5 set coming out later this year.

HHH vs Cena is the only thing close to something that would interest me, even though I know the match would suck hard. Even the WWE must realize Orton in the main event, after the way he's been repeatedly jobbed out to the Undertaker, is a terrible idea. This will make the third year in a row he'll be yanked from the main event if they decided not to do it.

This term needs to catch on. Its a great, but simple, description of what's really going on.

No offense, but I really think that's the worst one they did. It could've been good, but (if I'm remembering correctly) they decided to use footage Rock reciting stupid insults and catchphrases over memorable in-ring moments.

Tim White spoiler - I know you can't wait to know.

I guarantee that's 10 times better than anything they've thought up. -

Fucking liberal media.

This has not been a good year for the Republicans.

Maybe because other networks realize that pointing a TV camera at a TV monitor is a poor way to report the news. -
I'm hoping it has Marcellus Wallace's soul in it. I justed tried to remember the scene where Vega opens the briefcase, but got the clip of Eddie Guerrero and Booker T instead. I'm pathetic.

There was nothing original about the screenplay to Cinderella Man. -
The OaO Arrested Development Season 3 thread
SuperJerk replied to Gary Floyd's topic in Television & Film
This is totally scummy of FOX, since I think the cast might drift apart if FOX keeps stringing them along, not allowing other networks to sign them. If the show isn't cancelled, wouldn't cast still be contractually obligated to be on the show? -
WAHHHHH They're making fun of Republicans and I don't like it. WAHHHHHH That's all I'm hearing. Or reading.

There's gonna be a rumble to-night! A very Royal Rumble...that's right!

Everybody's missing the point. The point of me bringing up McDonald's was to show that majority rule is not a good way to determine quality, since the quality of McDonald's food is clearly subpar. The point of me bringing up the vast popularity of "Friends" was to show that the general consensus of opinion is that is was a really good show. "Friends" was a good show, but not as good as most people act like it was. Hence, it was over-rated. Or, at least, it is far more over-rated than "Arrested Development", which relies on being genuinely clever to be funny, rather than relying on catch-phrases and sarcastic dialogue. The entire strength of "Friends" was its cast, who worked really hard to make mediocre plots and predictable punchlines seem funnier than they actually were.
