The Generation Next eight man is good, though i don't feel it really holds up as anything overly special, personally i preferred the Gen Next tags/6 man tags from the World Title Classic and both Death Before Dishonor 2 shows. Other 2004 ROH matches that come to mind other than the Joe/Punk series & Danielson/Cide; Samoa Joe vs Austin Aries (Final Battle), Samoa Joe vs Bryan Danielson (Midnight Express Reunion), Low Ki vs Jay Lethal (Midnight Express Reunion), Ki/Danielson vs Liger/Joe (Weekend of Thunder Night Two) and Samoa Joe vs Jay Briscoe (At Our Best) are all very good stuff.

SWF Smarkdown Card - May 22nd!
Cuban Linx replied to the.weej's topic in Smarks Wrestling Federation
I'm alive, and will do something. I haven't sunk quite low enough to be no-showing against Matt Myers, yet anyway. -
Everyone on my team is up for trade aside from Pedro, and soon to be Johan Santana and Hanley Ramirez, though half my team is being traded already to get them. Whatever else is still around is fair game. Naturally the day after i propose the trade Hanley pops his shoulder out, but i'm mainly getting him for keeper purposes so whatever, losing Ensberg and Damon will make my offence suck but then it's already sucked enough to have me in last place so that's nothing new. On the plus side with Santana and Pedro giving me just about the most dominant 1-2 punch possible i could start 5 Jose Lima's along with them and still win most pitching stats.

Figures once the Rangers offence puts up a big score the pitching decides to totally fall to shit as well, i guess the rest of the bullpen didn't want to leave Francisco Cordero alone when it comes to blowing leads. If nothing else hopefully going 4/5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI's can get Mark Teixeira really kickstarted, as far as elite-level players go he's probably been the quietest so far.

That'd be the 12/6/96 Real World Tag League finals, a definite contender for best wrestling match ever. And i second the love for the '95 Champions Carnival, particularly since i'm a big Taue fan. In addition to the matches you mentioned Taue/Kawada is greatness as well, one of my favorite matches ever. Kawada/Akiyama is pretty damn good too.

Hero and Homicide had 2 matches in IWA Mid-South, the first was very good, the second, not so much. They also had a 2/3 falls match in Germany that falls in the middle, leaning to the good side. With the heat of the CZW/ROH angle behind them i'm sure they'd top their previous efforts now, particularly since Hero in particular has improved 1000 times over since 2003.

(8) Samoa Joe NC (?) Necro Butcher The whole thing went around 25-30 minutes, Necro came out through the crowd and knocked out Cruse... Then Joe came out. Necro KO'd the ROH ref (Kehner) and Joe KO'd the CZW ref (Remsberg). They fought around the ring for like five minutes and then Hero came out and they beat on Joe two on one. Claudio came out with a chair and nailed Joe. Then Pearce and Whitmer came out and they brawled all over the arena for like 15 minutes. The students carried out Joe. It was Hero/Necro/Claudio vs. Pearce/Whitmer and they teased a bunch of table spots (like powerbombing Hero from the apron through a table on the outside) The CZW guys went to superplex Whitmer through a table with Pearce on it and everything went dark and Homicide's music hit. Place went NUTS. 'Cide teased siding with CZW, then started beating the crap out of Hero. The students & co. drove out Hero and Claudio, which led to: (9)Homicide d. Necro Butcher in a crazy brawl. Sinclair came out and rang the bell, so this was an official match. They brawled around the ringside area for a while, then 'Cide told the fans to help him out. The threw a TON of chairs into the ring - Greg estimated at least 50% of the chairs were in there. Necro was laying on the mat, BURIED under chairs. 'Cide went back in and gave Necro a piledriver - kickout. Necro gave 'Cide a tiger driver - kickout. Then 'Cide suplexed necro off apron onto a bunch of chairs on the floor. He rolled him back in ring - Necro kicks out. He gave him a splash (I think) - kickotu. Then 'Cide nailed him with a lariat for the win... Post-match, 'Cide said Necro can come back to Ring of Homicide anytime he wants.

At least with Brazil they'll beat everyone else in the group as well as Australia, so they just have to worry about beating Japan and Croatia to advance. Not easy and probably unlikely but certainly achievable, you could do worse for your first World Cup in 32 years.

The Worst Wrestling Show of All-Time
Cuban Linx replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in General Wrestling
I agree with that, the rest of the show SUCKED, but those two matches lift it out of 'worst ever' territory for me, there's numerous WWE and WCW PPV's that don't have one match as good as either Rey/Chavo or Eddie/JBL, let alone two. Of course i never plan on seeing the rest of that show ever again, so i may be underestimating how earth-shatteringly bad it was overall. -
As far as juniors matches go i've seen Ohtani/Samurai 1/21/96 mentioned as the pinnacle of NJ Juniors matches quite a bit, as well as the usual candidates like Benoit/Sasuke J Cup, Ohtani/Ultimo J Crown (my personal favorite), Lyger/Ohtani 2/9/97, and Eddy/Benoit & Eddy/Lyger from the '96 Super Juniors semi's and final. Never seen the likes of Lyger/Samurai '92, the Lyger/Sano series or the Takada/Koshinaka era 80's junior stuff so i can't comment on them, though they've all been highly praised as well.

I'm sure Portland is looking to trade for him as we speak, i don't think they've had a shoplifter yet in their band of merry idiots/assholes/criminals.

Im i'm, now making me the southernmost person on there. At least until Nice Guy Adam shows up, or some mysterious poster from Uruguay or Antarctica or somewhere.

San Antonio over Dallas in 7 LA over Phoenix in 6, if the Clippers try to play Suns-style basketball reverse this. Detroit over Cleveland in 5, if the Bucks got one LeBron surely can, that'll be it though. New Jersey over Miami in 6

My pitching has come together nicely, but my offence is revolting. When adding such notorious hitters like Scott Hatteberg, Mark Grudzielanek and Brad Ausmus significantly improves my lineup it must be bad. I knew as soon as Morgan Ensberg went cold i'd be doomed.

How about if Spike/Manson/JJJ win, Stryke gets a title shot, while if WC/Akira/Zyon win, Stryke gets a title shot. Nice and uncomplicated, everybody wins.

CZW Presents BEST of the BEST 6 on May 13th
Cuban Linx replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in General Wrestling
Final two brackets semi-announced: 3rd Bracket: Claudio Castagnoli vs. Roderick Strong vs. ??? 4th Bracket: Matt Sydal vs. Sabian vs. ??? Which would probably leave Dutt joining CC/Strong and Lethal added to Sabian/Sydal. Daniels/Niles/Frazier would probably be a 2-on-1 thing, expect that the Junior Title is on the line and with both men feuding for the last 100 years seemingly i'd expect a more standard everyone vs everyone-type match, putting them against Daniels looks to be giving them a shot to break out with a great performance. Daniels/Frazier interests me slightly as a second round match, but i expect Niles retains over Derek in the 3-way and face Daniels, and i really don't care to see that. Plus if Christopher Daniels loses to Niles Young i think i'll choke on my own vomit. Niles/Frazier ideally prove they're worth a damn with breakout matches while Daniels hopefully advances. Aries/B-Boy/Jigsaw is the most unpredictable match. With Aries/Strong vs Briscoes for the tag belts the same night Aries and Strong will probably go to round 2 and maybe the semis at most, and right now i can actually see CZW giving Jigsaw the upset win. They've made a big deal about how no qualifier for BOTB has ever advanced past round 1 and painting Jigsaw to be the undergdog that goes deep in the tournament against the odds, have Aries pin B-Boy to have ROH eliminate a former winner CZW wrestler, then let Aries/Jigsaw go wild and give Jigsaw the upset win and move on to face Daniels. Between Jigsaw/Aries and Jigsaw/Daniels they have a great chance to make Jigsaw the breakout star of the show, hopefully they take advantage of it. Daniels over Jigsaw to go to the finals. Bracket three i'm liking alot, stick Dutt in there to have a rematch from the finals 2 years ago between Sonjay and Strong, they have good chemistry together and Strong breaking Sonjay in half a million different ways rocked 2/3 years ago, with Strong's overwhelming improvement since then it should be even better now. Strong kills Sonjay in the three way, then we get the mouthwatering (and possibly first time ever) Claudio/Strong match in the second round. On paper that should be the match of the tournament, i've been looking forward to that particular matchup for a long time and the CZW/ROH feud added on top should just make it even hotter. Claudio over Roderick to move to the semis and let Strong travel to NJ. Assuming Lethal is in bracket four it could go lots of ways, a Sydal/Lethal match seems logical with the anti-ROH thing, but i don't see them jobbing Sabian either. Sydal is probably most likely to lose since i don't see CZW putting over every ROH guy, but Claudio/Sydal is easily the most interesting (and best) semi final match they can go with the highflyer/base dynamic they'd have. It seems a waste to have Lethal lose as well given he's an outside guy brought in for the show, so i don't know what they'll do. Screw Sabian, Lethal over Sabian since anytime two black wrestlers are together they either team or fight, then Sydal over Lethal, which could be a heated little match with Lethal being dumped from ROH and Sydal essentially tyaking his place as the spunky upper midcard underdog. Hell, Sydal even teamed with Joe recently to add to that. Claudio then beats Sydal in another should-be tremendous match. They'll probably have a spotfest fourway between the guys eliminated in round one to eat time before the finals, Derek Frazier vs B-Boy vs Sonjay Dutt vs Sabian seems to be exactly the sort of match CZW would do. That leaves Christopher Daniels vs CLaudio Castagnoli in the finals, with the CZW/ROH feud, their match on the last Philly ROH show, Daniels actually shaking CC's hand before Claudio followed up by turning on the company, plus the fact that they're Christopher Daniels and Claudio Castagnoli, should make for a damn good finals that could really go either way. Claudio could win and complete his super push through the tournament taking out a 3rd ROH guy, or since he's already likely had the 2 best matches of the tournament vs Strong and Sydal give ROH a win since CZW's had the upper hand on ROH's shows, and give Daniels the win. Plus having a big name like Daniels in the record books as a BOTB winner adds to the 'prestige' of the tournament, for those who care about that sort of thing. If i had to guess i'd say Daniels is winning. To me that sounds like a pretty good looking tournament, Claudio vs Daniels, Claudio vs Strong, Claudio vs Sydal, Lethal vs Sydal, Jigsaw vs Aries, plus non-tournament stuff weith BLKOUT and Hero/Necro/Dragon would get my money, and probably alot of other peoples as well. Of course it IS CZW, so who knows what they'll actually do. Probably something like Niles Young: Best of the Best champion, on a show i'll refuse to ever watch. -
