  1. It's very early in the morning, and I don't really have time to point out how incredibly ridiculous I find your point of view. So I'll just say this: as I've said many times before, the majority of people in this country are against gay marriage - and while that doesn't make the majority right, I'm sure that those tens of millions (perhaps hundreds of millions) who aren't peachy keen with the idea of gay marriage don't ALL believe that way because a) they're conservative or b) because of religion. And I'm gonna say this, too: this is virtually a political NONissue in terms of the election. The differences between Kerry & Bush on this are almost negligible - and come November, people are going to decide whether to vote for Bush or Kerry on much bigger issues than this one. Well since neither candidate supports gay marriage, I think it is more telling to see if they both support civil unions, and if SO, would Bush be more likely to cave on that issue if the religious right start pulling on their strings. He's already said before, on several occasions, that he'd be in favor of civil union legislation. Civil unions is as far as EITHER candidate is going to go on the issue. And Bush shouldn't do a damn thing to try and favor the religious vote. Ultimately, when it comes down to it, who are most of them going to vote for? John Kerry?! Good lord. I think, perhaps, you're exaggerating JUST a tad.

  3. Jesus, is PLANNING for all possibilities so foreign a concept? -=Mike Why are you even trying to argue logically with them?
  4. Actually, in hindsight, it's rather obvious. He introduced a bunch of "Nightcrawlers" and then he was introducing more "Angels", so he was going for some sort of Heaven and Hell thing. A mutant war with characters that people hate (Azazel and Jay/Josh/Icarus), I guess. Holy Christ, I had almost purged the "multiple Nightcrawler" nonsense from my memory. And it was within the last year that they did that storyline. I'm with you.
  5. I just laughed so hard at some of those I almost vomited.
  6. If he had plans to introduce more "angels", then maybe it's best he's hit the road. Yes, I'm still sore over that goddamn Uncanny "The X-Men do Romeo & Juliet" storyline. What the fuck was he THINKING? "Hey.....I'll introduce a character who's EXACTLY like Angel - right down to even his powers - only I'll make him a teenager! And a member of a rock band! They'll love him!" ........I have to take a breather. I could get very angry here.
  7. Mott actually stole a line from, of all people, Stevie Ray, by calling Rico a "fruit booty" a few weeks back. Both Mott & Matthews have some VERY weird commentary at times.
  8. You're wrong, on many levels, but thank you anyway for proving my point.
  9. You do realize that John Kerry's position on gay marriage is more SIMILAR to that of George W. Bush than it is different, don't you?
  10. Man, the lengths one will go to nitpick. -=Mike I'm beginning to think that maybe Bush really did rape Jobber's mom.
  11. Are we still on this story? Hasn't it sort of been established that the only people who still give a shit about this story are people who hate Bush anyway and thus keep dragging this thing up every so often? Cause most of the moderate people I know don't even fucking care. I find it kind of funny that Clinton's mentioned, because this Bush story is about as relevant as was all of the "controversy" surrounding where Bill was during Vietnam and whether or not he actually inhaled. I just find it silly that of all of the things liberals & Democrats could slam Bush on, they keep trying to bring this one up.
  12. Tin foil hats, quack! Tin foil hats! The CIA can't read your thoughts when you have one on!!!!
  13. Of COURSE we all realize that our representatives bend the rules to get their bills passed. But it's only a bad thing when the Republicans do it. When the Democrats do this, we're supposed to look the other way. I'm rather shocked I have to point out the obvious here.
  14. I'm wondering, is it just this one four hour miniseries? Because it seems to me that they could probably do several minis, or just a few two-hour movies, and do quite well with them all around. It really would benefit them to keep the series around for a bit, if just in that limited fashion. Towards the end there, they had started to merchandize the show. Keeping it around would ensure that those opportunities remain open & viable.
  15. I caught a little of this on C-SPAN last night, and I have to say: props to Rockefeller, who completely no sold what the Senate report actually said and focused only on how this was entirely Bush's fault (even though that wasn't any part of the actual, you know, report). Wasn't surprising, just kind of amusing.
  16. Wow. I knew someone was going to go down that rather nasty and spiteful little road, but I'm kind of surprised & disappointed it was you.
  17. Shhhh. You're not supposed to point out how hilariously hypocritical he is. It's bad manners.
  18. Sci-Fi really can't justify cancelling Farscape and then replacing it with shows like "Tremors: The Series". I can MAYBE buy them buying the syndication rights to Stargate - because people do watch that show. But "Tremors"? No way you can convince me that drew in more viewers or drew more money than Farscape, which by the end did have a loyal fanbase which WOULD spend money on the product.
  19. That's awesome. Assholish moves like that are great, especially from politicians. If he really did that, I have to agree with sfaJack - Riordian becomes a minor hero of mine.
  20. Two burning questions arise from that picture. 1.) When did the Village People gain a soldier? Did they always have one? 2.) Did the Soldier serve with John Kerry in a little war we like to call Vietnam?
  21. Raz - haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm pretty sure that's it. I'll probably see this next week, since I'm a mark for Arthurian stuff, and because I want Keira Knightley to have my demon child. But I hear ya, bort, about the actors. I just don't feel Clive Owen at all. I'd be mortified if they make him the new Bond, as has been rumored so often.
  22. I loved Kingdom Hearts, so I'll be watching for KH2.... as well as the GBA's Chain of Memories. I loved KH too, and yes, I'll be buying Chains of Memory also. But it's Square Enix, and it's going to have cutscenes, so I can already anticipate the reaction of some people here. Hopefully, Lightning Filk will be on my side.
  23. If he had, then I'd be voting for him.
  24. Which planet are you living on again? Cause I know it's not the one called Earth. Maybe Earth-2. Hey, was that Jay Garrick I just saw running past the window?
  25. I'm sure the Daily Show has absolute NO political axe to grind, Mike. I still want to see this film very badly, as this film has the potential to be great because it's a parody not so much of Moore's politics, but of his own particular style of "documentary."
