  1. While I think Marvel generally sells better than DC comics, I don't imagine DC is in bad shape......after all, they're owned by Time Warner, who has some deep pockets. The flashy Marvel paper is really more of a style thing. The Marvel head honchos go for that sort of thing to draw your attention, make their product look snazzier. Frankly, I'm the type of guy who'd go for the industry using cheaper paper if it'll help drop the cost of books down.
  2. You know, I do wonder if Josh got some of Rue. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he did.
  3. Because other posters here are right - Africa is, for most of the civilized world, insignificant. And because it would be even MORE difficult to make something respectable out of those countries than it has been in rebuilding Iraq. You think the Middle East is hard? Africa takes the fucking cake.
  4. I think it will be close - probably on par with the last election, although hopefully with much less clusterfucking around. In the end, though, I think Bush will win. Kerry's too weak of a candidate, and even help from a strong VP candidate (and who would that be? Outside of McCain, there isn't anyone who I would consider "strong" - even Jon Edwards is, at best, unproven) and a sizable anti-Bush lobby won't be enough to overcome his faults.
  5. I'll go with Seinfeld & Izzard as well. Seinfeld has got to be one of the greatest con artists of all time for fooling so many people into thinking he has one iota of comedic talent. As for Izzard, I know people who love his comedy with almost the same fanaticism of die-hard Monty Python fans. I'm sorry, I've heard his material, and I just. Don't. Get. The appeal.
  6. Male - Morgan Freeman. Oustanding actor. By my count, he should have won the Oscar for Best Male Performance at least twice by now. Female - Cate Blanchett. She's probably hurt somewhat by taking on roles in films that are less than winners, but I don't think I've ever seen her give a bad performance.
  7. I don't know if I really have a problem with the networks not airing this stuff. Although I think the Arnold speech should be televised. But this is what I WOULD have a problem with. If what the networks do show favors one party more so than the other (for example, showing 2 hours of Democratic convention coverage, and only one hour of Republican - or showing most of the speeches of Democrats, but cutting the speeches of the more prominent Repubs like Rudy or Arnold), then I'll have a BIG problem with this. And then the FCC should step in.
  8. I'll go with Van Helsing, although, honestly, I didn't see it - I heard it was awful from pretty much everyone who had seen it. I mean, literally, there wasn't a single person that I know who had seen it - and there was quite a few - that would even give it an indifferent "eh". It was all, "That film is crap. Don't bother." I didn't really expect the film to be fantastic, but I thought that it'd be a fun little horror-action movie, in the same vein as The Mummy or even Underworld. My theory is that Ebert went senile a few years back, not long after Siskel kicked it. The man's entirely untrustworthy these days, because for the past couple years at least, he's been giving good reviews to movies that have absolutely no business getting even TWO stars, let alone three or more. Van Helsing is just the latest example. Other disappointments: I was suckered into watching Episode One, back in the day when I thought that Lucas actually cared about the franchise and was going to do a good job with the prequels. Then this came out, and after 10 minutes of Jar Jar, I realized I was wrong. That didn't bother me so much as the Matrix sequels. I loved the original movie, and was very excited about Reloaded. Then I saw it, and realized that, outside of a few good fight scenes, the film sucked balls with more gusto than I thought was possible.
  9. You blatanly stole that from an episode of MacGyver. I know, because I saw the same episode.

    Kerry's VP

Kerry - Carter? Good lord, I'd slit my wrists.
  11. You're getting very close. Too much? Is Saddam talking in the third person now?
  12. Agreed. Although I don't have any confidence on Marvel's commitment to making them stay dead (especially since it looks as if they're bringing back Xorn, even though, in reality, he never TRULY existed). Who would you start with? My top three: 1.) Sage. Because I just don't like the character. 2.) Cannonball / Husk's younger brother, the guy who looks exactly like Angel and even has Angel's powers, but is of course, not even a fraction as cool or interesting as the real Angel (and let's stop and think about how questionable it is that Husk is dating Angel, who by coincidence, I'm sure, looks exactly like an older version of this brother of hers - you're going down a dark road here, Chuck Austen). 3.) Staci X. For obvious reasons. I forget, don't we have Joe Kelly to blame for her? Rectify the problem. I think they had the perfect opportunity with Cassandra Nova, but didn't go far enough. She destroyed Genosha, with a few million mutants that none of us were familiar with, but they should have had her clean up all of the scrubs we already know and hate.
  13. This Fifi actually looks excited to be there, rather than scared shitless. You know, they should just show an hour or so of the dog doing cute little tricks. It'd be more entertaining than the show we'll inevitably get.
  14. The man is, indeed, correct. And, might I also add, it appears as if Impact has been preempted again this week to show a replay of the Baltimore Orioles game. I wouldn't be so upset about that, if baseball, as a sport, wasn't less enjoyable than forcible anal sodomy.
  15. You continue to be a complete fucking moron. As to why it wasn't broadcast live - you ARE aware that there's a time zone difference between the Middle East & the Western world, right? Iraq runs 8 hours AHEAD of the U.S. time zones. That means that events which take place at, say, 12 o'clock noon in Baghdad are actually taking place at 4 o'clock in the fucking morning in America. They're not broadcasting it live for the simple reason that they want to show this footage when people are actually awake to see it.
  16. But how can this be true? That great patriot Wilson says otherwise.
  17. Hey, question: Does anyone remember how much Kofi Annan's son stole from the Food-For-Oil program? No, I in fact, do not. But I do know where it all went. Yep, you guessed it. *points to Bush's pockets*
  18. What's this "everyone" bullshit? YOU are a Democrat, shackled by your ideology. I am a free-thinking independent, no party holds sway over me!
  19. That's what I like about you, INXS. You're so completely over the top ridiculous that you're kind of endearing.
  20. Vyce

    Kerry's VP

You're crazy. And I mean that with all sincerity. If he really does pick Hillary, Bush can kick back and relax. Because Kerry just ensured him another 4 years.
  21. Independant does not signify one party as a whole... it means free of political party... so therefor, Mikey is an independant. It doesn't really fucking matter who you think is "more" independant... I mean, heck (trademark - MikeSC), there isn't even an independant base as far as political ideals are concerned it's really not a complicated thing to understand Well then, Jesus, I suppose that you and everyone else here should just go ahead and acknowledge that I'm an independent. Because, after all, while I'm registered to vote, I'm not registered as a Democrat, or a Republican, or any other party whatsoever.
  22. Wow. I'm going to be nice and just say, I think you give Moore far more credit than he deserves. INFINITELY more credit.
  23. Again, I'm no fan of Mordecai, but is it really early enough to label him a "failed project"? I don't even think the guy's had 5 televised matches.
  24. You know, I’m not thrilled with either Jindrack or Mordecai, but if they really want to elevate them as heels, they shouldn’t be so quick to job them out. ESPECIALLY jobbing Mordecai out to Rey.
  25. The article specifically states that these men must complete 8 years of service. I'm not well versed in military law, but I would imagine that unless these men have completed their 8 years or resigned their commission, the fact that they've retired or been discharged is irrelevant. In Cer's case, he was discharged AND resigned his commission - it appears that members of this reserve pool may have been discharged, but they retained their commission, thus making them eligible for recall.
