  1. And they won't. The press SHOULD, but you're right, they likely won't. -=Mike I mean, I agree, this is something the press should look into, if they want to be all "fair and balanced" (LOL2004). It's long been suspected that this type of shady business was going on, but here we have something that's worth looking into, but unless conservatives actively FORCE the media to look into, they won't.
  2. Eh, a mixed bag for the administration. It upholds their policies. Not as much as would like, but in the long run, the authority to detain these men will remain. Especially since by the time their writs for habeas corpus get reviewed by the courts, they'll already have been in custody for a significant period of time anyway. One thing of interest, though: Way to go, SCROTUM - you pussed out again.
  3. The only way anything comes of this is if the Republicans make something out of it.
  4. I'd just like to go back to the beginning of the second page of this thread, and just say to Jobber: Cobra so fucking rules. Don't even TRY to equate the awesomeness of Cobra Commander with your little pussy party.
  5. Heh. That's going to happen no matter who wins in November.
  6. What does this mean? Simply this: we now don't have to worry about insurgents trying to perform a terrorist action on the 30th to interrupt the transfer of power, because we've already gone and done it behind their backs. In that regard, this move was brilliant. The insurgents will no doubt be spurred to action in retaliation for this, but still - they won't have ruined the transfer like they no doubt intended to do. It's a small victory, but we'll take it.
  7. Jobber, your best response would have been to simply ignore this post. Because you can go, "Well, they had served their time", but you can't really defend them for hiring CHILD MOLESTERS when this group clearly stated that they didn't intend to send out former felons who had been found guilty of "violent or other serious offenses." Someone fucked up here, big time. If I was the parent or guardian of the child that was endangered, I'd sue this organization for negligence, for every fucking dollar they had. I'd be owning everything of there's down to the goddamn wall calendars by the time it was all over and done with.
  8. That was a totally bitchin' Genesis game, my friend. ........you know, I must say, I'd absolutely love for them to bring that game back and make a modern day version.
  9. I'm mildly interested in this (I did read Spiderman 2099 & X-Men 2099 back in the day), but my bank account isn't such that I can justify picking up five new titles at 2.99 a piece. Especially since September is also going to bring the debut of the new Dr. Strange series by JMS.
  10. I refuse to even vote in this things. Gargoyles is so much better than M.A.S.K. or Captain N or Voltron....I just refuse. This is my protest. Although I will give you one prop - good for you for recognizing "Might Max". It doesn't deserve a spot over Gargoyles, but it was a great comedy / action series.
  11. Whoo boy. I'm not thrilled with them signing him, as he's definitely a guy where, at this point in his life / career, the bad outweighs the good, BUT - for the sake of optimism - I'm going to hope that only having to wrestle once, maybe twice a week will keep him reasonably focused. If he only works one date a week, then perhaps he won't burn out so quickly or downward spiral into his usual routine. Yeah, I know, wishful thinking.
  12. Well, of COURSE Claremont wants her back. You know - I really hated the character and was glad she was killed off. But I read the storyline where he killed her off, and I have to say, he fucked even that up.
  13. Here's what I'm still trying to figure out - if Britain's adopting this new strategy of aggressively going after the "best U.S. shows" - why the hell are they trying so hard to pick up "Joey"??? Oh, and AS: For my money, no one on that show was more unbearable than Ross.
  14. Have you heard that Dave Chappelle routine?! "Didn't anybody think it was suspicious.....that every dead black guy the cops found had crack sprinkled on them?"
  15. Edited for accuracy.
  16. This story is kind of ridiculous. Not because it's fluff, but because as book reviews - just like movie reviews, or music reviews, etc. - are inherently subjective, a newspaper shouldn't be under ANY obligation to publish a positive review to counteract a negative one, and vice versa. But then again, hey, it's the NYT.
  17. The draft is a straw man. It's not going to happen. Even the bills that had been circulated recently, which caused the recent panty-twisting from people like Moore, would not necessarily require *military* service, even assuming that those bills were passed. Which they wouldn’t be.
  18. I'd never waste my money on a politically themed t-shirt, but I must say, that little cartoon Moore just looks hilarious. EXACTLY. Oh, and nl5 - you RAWK for having one of the girls from suicidegirls.com as your avatar.
  19. Yes. And they already have a Wolverine title, and a Rogue title.....and Mystique....and Emma Frost....am I leaving anyone out? Oh yes - the Madrox mini starts that month as well. Although at least that might potentially be interesting, given who's behind it. They're grossly oversaturating again.
  20. Why not? The Dudleys / Paul Heyman have already kidnapped him and threatened to kill him, without any punishment thus far. Just go ahead and have them finish him off, it's the logical conclusion to the angle.
  21. Bill Hicks had a funny routine on that.
  22. Jeffrey Combs + ANYTHING = Ownage. I'm hoping we get to see The Creeper return, myself.
  23. The latest revamp is just killing me. I'm not pleased with Austen, I'm INSANELY less please with them bringing Claremont back and giving Uncanny his shitacular X-Treme team, and the Magneto thing makes me want to pull all of my hair out in frustration. And anyone look through the Marvel Previews? They've apparently decided that every single X-man deserves their own comic. EVERY single one. Christ, Marvel had won me over with their Marvel Knights run a few years back. I'm starting to hate them again.
  24. Some of those numbers shouldn't be surprising. Popular opinion about abortion, for example, as that poll demonstrates, has grown steadily more negative over the years. I think the high number for homosexuals has everything to do with the push for gay marriage. Polls have been done ever since Lawrence v. TX was decided last year to gauge the public's opinion on homosexuality, and the disapproval numbers have grown ever since that case. I think that, in general, people are more modestly accepting of homosexuality, but the push for marriage rights has made them feel claustrophobic.
  25. John Doe rocked. And it had a bitching cliffhanger. Too bad we'll never see a resolution.
