The thing which pisses me off most about this latest reboot of the franchises is that it's totally unnecessary. Even if you're going to install new writers on a couple of the books (Uncanny, New X-Men), there's no need to overhaul the ENTIRE franchise. It makes no sense, and it's only going to fuck things up. And I have to add my two cents to the Austen discussion: while I'm not anything resembling a fan of his, he is so NOT worse than Claremont. Pretty much everything Claremont writes these days makes me cringe. Austen's work is at least passable. He's not really up to writing a major book like X-Men, though.

Well, that story does seem to paint Austin's girlfriend in a less than favorable light, and if true, would absolve Steve somewhat of his recent actions. That said, he's still a piece of shit. We know he at least beat the one wife / girlfriend. And that's enough for me to count him as shit in my book.

I still plan on seeing this some time in the next week, but I agree with you about how the film looks visually. I was very excited to see this film, UNTIL I saw the first trailer for it. And I sat there and thought to myself......"Where did all the CHEESE come from?" Bad looking monsters, bad-looking CGI.....this has the potential to just be awful. But like I said, I'll still see it, for a couple reasons: 1) I'm a slave to horror movies. Even not-really-a-horror-movie, just-an-action-movie-with-monsters flicks like this one. 2) Kate Beckinsale. My. Sweet. Godness.

That is, indeed, an awesome song. Country's a much maligned genre, and with some good reason - as soon as start getting into the "pop country" realm like the Dixie Chicks or modern day Garth Brooks, it's all shit. If you go for more of the harder, purer stuff, it can be quite good.
