  1. COMPLETELY incorrect. The Constitution serves two general functions: it authorizes / grants power to the three branches of government (things such as the tax & spend power, etc.), and it protects the citizens from violations of their rights by the GOVERNMENT. There MUST be state action. You're completely wrong. It has NOTHING to do preventing tyranny by the majority, only tyranny by the state. That's why any redneck can discriminate against a homosexual and be COMPLETELY in the clear about it (outside of perhaps a tort action), so long as they're not agents of the state. If civil unions are established that would grant any couple who engages in them all of the same rights and privileges as are given to the institution of marriage, i.e. if those unions differ from marriage in name and name alone - then they may very well be in accordance with the 14th amendment. It's never been proven with any definitive scientific certainty that homosexuality is biological. If it had been, all of this would be moot - courts would be forced to recognize homosexuals just as they would a person of a particular race, color, etc. It hasn't definitively been proven that homosexuality isn't anything more than a lifestyle choice, which is why they're not afforded the same civil rights as other groups. Hell, they're not even considered a "suspect class" - thus they aren't even protected under the Civil Rights acts of the 1960s.
  2. Steve Corino's WWE debut at No Way Out 2004: This is, of course, merely a continuation of my current Smackdown main angle of Edge & friends (America's Most Wanted & Ricky Steamboat) vs. "The Elite" (Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles, Joe E. Legend, Paul Heyman - and now Steve Corino)
  3. Not the prequel trilogy. *shakes head in a nono fashion* Not the prequels? Shit, not even the ORIGINAL trilogy.
  4. You may not LIKE it, but you will learn to LOVE it. All you assholes stop with your boo-boo faces.
  5. Finally, an Oscar night I actually enjoyed.
  6. YES!!!!!! DEAL WITH IT, YE FUCKERS!!!!!
  7. HE DOESN'T DESERVE A STANDING OVATION.
  8. Fuck. I had to be this cocksucker. Even Jude Law would have been better than this.
  9. I would take great pleasure in Bill FUCKING Murray winning this.
  10. Sofia Coppola is kind of cute in a way.
  11. I have to give him credit, bravo. Of course, why would he ruin the moment just to get in a cheap shot? Thankfully, he had some class. I normally can't stomach the man, but he deserves some props tonight.
  12. I think you mean "While You Were Out", which WAS sort of good, but host Theresa Strauss left and now some dude has taken over. If I'm going to watch a show about home redecorating, I'd at least like to see a cute girl hosting, rather than be reminded at how gay the show is by having a total sausage host it. "Monster House" is a pretty good show, especially when the builders act like bitches and Steve has to put them in line. Oh, and "American Chopper" OWNS. I could watch that (and some of the other shows - like "Great Biker Build-Off" - go Billy Lane!) all day long.
  13. I know I'm the only one who watches MAD-TV, but they did another skit (in wake of the Michael Moore one they did a few months back) that I found funny - Mike, you would have liked this one too. The skit was what if our president was decided via American Idol? With celebrity judges - including Bill O'Reilly fulfilling the role of Simon Cowell (and it really WAS Bill O'Reilly in the sketch). Anyway, one of the cast members played John Kerry. Kerry: I'm John Kerry - I'm a Vietnam war hero. In the Vietnam War, I did things that were heroic. Sometimes my voice drones on until someone slaps me on the back. *Bill walks over and slaps him on the back* Kerry: Thanks. You know, that reminds me of something I did in the Vietnam War.... *questioning begins* Bill: Mr. Kerry, would you consider yourself aligned with the politics of Ted Kennedy? Kerry: I know Ted Kennedy. I've known him since not long after I was in the Vietnam War, in which I fought.....
  14. I'm actually somewhat anticipating the remake. I don't like remakes in general, but I'd like to see this one. I'm one of the few who actually LIKES the new "zombies that run fast" philosophy that's currently in flavor.
  15. Food fight? Feh. You have to win a tuxedo match to earn my respect.
  16. Now, now, kkk, Kerry DID serve in Vietnam, which gives him perfect justification for protesting against it. ....As well as completely disrespecting veterans..... ....As well as refusing to grant necessary monetary aid to our current troops..... Are you DARING to question his great PATRIOTISM?!?!
  17. Alright then, genius, if they fabricated the evidence, wouldn't it have made more sense for them to pin it all on Saddam Hussein, as that's who they wanted to get from the beginning? 1) People are not being killed there - as you yourself have stated.....be consistent. 2) News flash - we KNOW that some of them (most of them, probably) ARE terrorists. They're not all a bunch of Arabs we pulled from a convenience store here in America - a lot of them HAVE taken up arms against our country, not in a figurative sense, but LITERALLY. You're just a fucking moron. Thank god people like you weren't the majority back during WW2. Lord, save me from this man. I find it utterly inconceivable that any rational human being can think the way you do in spite of the fact that the others here have quite well shown that you're WRONG about Gitmo on just about every level. A great deal of anti-semitism these days is masked as mere 'criticism' of Israel and her policies. There ARE such things as child soldiers, you know. Islamic terrorist groups don't exactly have age limits on recruitment. MOST Palestinian suicide bombers are young people in their teens or twenties. I get on my knees every night and thank God that there are enough strong men in the world to protect the spineless ones like you.
  18. That is shocking - that Kerry actually showed up to vote on something. He hasn't been doing that for several MONTHS now....
  19. No, that's not what the 14th amendment says. You're making a normative argument - that gays have the right to marry - but nothing in the constitution, specifically the 14th amendment, says that, and it was certainly NOT something the drafters of that amendment considered. The 14th amendment has been interpreted, over the years, to grant such things as interracial marriage (see Loving v. Virginia), under the "right of privacy" (which is also NOT in the constitution textually). But the right to marriage for homosexuals has not been defined by the court as a right protected by the 14th amendment - largely due to the fact that gays are NOT considered a suspect class or considered, under the law, as deserving of special civil rights status simply because they're homosexual. Does that mean you're 100% wrong? No, because who knows, the Supreme Court might decide that gay marriage is a right. But as it stands, those who are making the argument that gay marriage is not a right? Their argument is just as valid, constitutionally, as yours.
  20. Holy shit! GMU is my alma matter! And I'm from D.C.! Dutt's my new favorite wrestler.
  21. Thoughts: 1) Rock's nuts to mutilate his body like that - all the tats DO place limits upon his marketability. 2) Foley is nuts for doing what he's doing to his body just to get Randy fucking Orton over. 3) Wouldn't it make more sense to put Kenzo on Smackdown with Tajire's group?
  22. Exactly, Mike. I mean, so he's tried to murder someone in cold blood just to rape their corpse - who are we to deny him a second chance at life?
  23. WHAT?!?!?!?! Seriously..... WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Joss is approaching near Manson levels in the term of bizarre cult control he has on some of you. Some of you are just losing all reason.
  24. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Old school, yeah, but I love Holmes. LOVE HIM. I was lucky enough to find some of the BBC Radio dramatizations of some of the Holmes stories at my local library, and my interest has been rekindled these past few months.
  25. That's just crazy talk. That show was godawful. You know what? I'll go one better. There isn't even a Kevin Smith MOVIE that is as good as Family Guy is.
